As with the Sertao/Dakar/Adventure the standard Sertao falls short in a few areas although a beautiful bike. Upgrade the bike w/options for: -Emulators and progressive fork springs -Foot peg/shifter relocation -Uprgaded raised handlebars or risers -Upgraded tunable rear suspension -All three seat options -rasing/lowering links -Spoked wheel options to include 21Front and 18 rear These basic mods would replace the current technology and create an out of the box great basic GS
Hi "Boxwoodgreen", it's a factory option, you just order the low version and you get suspension with less travel front and rear and a lower seat. When you select that from the option list, the centre stand automatically gets deselected. So I guess there's no original centre stand for a lowered G650GS
Hi Tuan, I'm 1.83, but as you can see this bike is too low for me. It had a suspension lowering kit (standard BMW option) and a lower saddle. Standard seat height is 780 mm, with low saddle 750mm, the lowering kit lowers that by another 30/35 mm (front/rear). You should be allright, I think...
F650GS is not too big/high. I'm exactly same 1.63 and I had before F650GS. I had a normal suspension, but lower seat. So the seat hight with lower seat was 790mm. For F650GS is also available lower suspension and then it´s about same 750mm like G650GS. I have never ridden G650GS, so I can´t compare the bikes.
Ground clearance and suspension travel are too small for offroad use. Also, the petrol tank (in the rear subframe) is to wide between your feet for standing comfortably on the pegs and there is no sump protection. Therefore, it is not really fit for offroad use, so it's not really an allroad. It's meant to stay on tarmac.
I know this is a 10 year old comment- but I thought I would add my thoughts. I find the comment highly flawed, as there are hundreds of videos of people doing offroad trips on it. Sure, it's no fully fledged dirtbike that can go through the complete bush- but it can easily handle trails etc.
@@eymanyouwell I know someone who crossed the Sahara on a Yamaha R1 Superbike. That is crazy, but he managed. That people use a bike offroad, doesn't mean it's perfect for it or even remotely suitable. Try a Yamaha WR450 or an KTM EXC450 and you will see the difference. 300 mm suspension travel and 112 kg makes offroading a piece of cake. Now, those two are rubbish on tarmac, if you are looking for a suitable bike to do both, a KTM 890 Adventure or a Ducati Desert X are the way to go. Or an older KTM 990 Adventure. I own both the EXC and the 990, so I know what I am talking about.
Hi, Could you tell me the type of tyres is it ? May be Karoo 3 Metzeler ? And the size ? Is it 110/80 R 19 for the front and 140/80 R 17 for the rear ? Thanks
you thing as much as this motorcycle costs that BMW could put a pair of good inverted forks on the bike & aluminum swing arm right? BMW rip off ! look for a different brand.
Had this bike for couple months and covered couple thousand miles and sold it. Do not recomend. Very snatchy, jerky natured engine not friendly for daly use. Clunky gearbox, wooden brakes (do not deserve Brembo name) and poor suspention. Do not hate BMW before anyone accuse me just saying for those who plan on buying it.
@Vstm I have looked at 10s of video reviews, and all of them state that the ride if very smooth on the bike and it is not jerky at all. I genuinely think your bike had problems with it.
@@eymanyouwell thanks for sharing. Or maybe this is down to perception of the user. Mine had only 4500km odo when i bought it second hand so it was practucally new
@@vstm3950 It's not the perception of the user- as I said, I watched a huge variety of reviews and pretty much all of them said similar things. Unless your point is a singular perception that is. Also new bikes can have problems from factory/even with super low kms.
