It's designed to always center itself, safety measure for those who forgot the wheel was turned once they've parked, and just hop in it to drive and go. It keeps a person from just pulling out in traffic from a parked spot, unless they've turned the wheel and it was in Drive.

Careful guys ,, don't step in that one might get stuck to you shoe. The control valve inside the steering box is sticking ,, will need rebuilt or replaced.

Those old Chrysler had a adjustment on the gearbox for that, I remember looking for the kick in the steering wheel when started to know if it needed adjustment

Loosen the adjuster, tap it one way, start the car. If it stops twitching, lock the adjuster down.

MOPAR OR NO CAR MY MAN!!!! Just a beautiful car that B body in 1967 is a stunner. Btw no kickdown in that dodge is a BAD thing. Y'all service that one thing bfor selling it to someone. Lines aren't getting pressure correctly and soon it'll be a broken trans. It's an easy cheap fix on a Chrysler trans heck..I'll do it for ya in 2 hrs for $200 y'all but the parts (they're cheap and available).
