I’m going to work on this, but I’m a little confused about which melody notes to play between chords. Do the melody notes stay in the same key (and which key do you use?) or are they chromatic? Thanks!
On the F7 resolving to Bb I'm playing on the Bb major scale. So it's the scale you're resolving to. But you have to hit target tones (chord tones) for each chord on the strong beats, and chromatic approach tones are okay.
Hi Kent! Question: when you are playing the melody in your right hand, are you holding down the sustain for all of those notes, or is it maybe the sostenuto pedal? I'm having an issue with dissonance when I try playing melodies with the sustain held down
I'm holding down the sustain pedal when I play the melody over the F7 and release it at the moment I play the Bb and hold it down on the Bb melody. You have to "clear" the sounds on the F7 or they will "bleed" into the Bb sound and create dissonance. Same for all steps. Your ear will tell you what sounds good.
