Testing 1:1 Aspect Ratio - Inline Skating Rock Island Rail Trail 🔳

Here I am testing a square aspect ratio as opposed to a 9:16 ratio that is used in all of my other current videos. Unfortunately 16:9 leaves some of my feet cut off (I likely need to hold the selfie stick at a different angle; more testing is needed 🤓). I am trying to improve my regular (non-short) videos and am still learning how to edit my Insta360 videos 😎

I am testing a 1:1 aspect ratio here; I think this is a nice compromise between 16:9 (wide) and 9 : 16 (tall) where 16:9 is typically preferred for non mobile viewing and 9 : 16 typically preferred for mobile viewing/shorts. Let me know your opinion on what aspect ratio you like to watch videos in!

You can actually disregard the aspect ratio as a whole and insert the h and w parameters in that field and it will just keep it standard to the size you recorded at.

@@RISk8ers are you talking about in the Insta360 app? I just figured out the other day that even when I record in “me mode” it allows me to change the aspect from 9 : 16 to 16:9 or 1:1 😅 so can record in me mode then pick aspect 😎

Great question. When viewing on my phone I prefer the 19:6 ratio but this only makes sense if the camera is focus on a person. If your filming rollerblading content, 9:16 is the way to go. For YT shorts and instagram reels, 9:16 ratio is acceptable. For long videos, the watch hour metric is important so 19:6 is preferred. I watch more rollerblading content on big screens. Unless I’m taking a dump, I use my iPhone. Sorry, TMI. 😂 On mobile version, you can pick the aspect ratio to export. When I first got my Insta360 I don’t believe the portrait mode was there and they recently updated their mobile editor to support both portrait and landscape. That was one of the number one complaint about their mobile version editor. For PC Insta360 editor, there is a resolution input boxes you can adjust. The Insta360 editor is limited so I use a freeware ShotCut for final edits. The beauty of Insta360 is we don’t need to worry about the prefect angle anymore unlike my iPhone. You can record yourself good enough. Then, pick the aspect ratio and angles to your liking. That was a great flow video you did. You are slowly moving into my Fantasy League Skaters. I mean I got Stuttering Skater, Bill Stoppard, Skating Squid and now Professor Will.

@@CatzzSkatesFamily I have only been using the mobile app for editing 😅 I need to check out the PC version and see what the differences are! Most of my viewing comes from phone so I don’t generally have preference on aspect ratio for viewing, but if I am watching on big screen I definitely want the wide aspect. Thanks so much for the comment, insight into editing, and the kind words at the end man! That means a lot!! ❤️ I am having a blast rollerblading daily, working on new skills, and watching my friends have fun and growing/learning on their YT channels 🎉

Man it took me about 2-3 months of stretching on and off skates to gain the flexibility to do that lol; then was able to hold them for about 3 seconds or so until one day something in the upper body position clicked at local rink.

@@PokeProfWill how often did u strech if u do not mind, and what was your stretching routine ?
@PokeProfWill
@PokeProfWill 5 месяцев назад
@@kokainakralj I was stretching about 2-3x per day for 5 min or so each session. When I stretched, I would create a V with my feet while standing and slowly widen them out towards Eagle position until it felt uncomfortable while trying to hold there. Using a wall to support balance helps too so that you can kind of roll in U shape while getting the angle wider 🙂
