There aren’t many metal shapers still in use in American machine shops. We have 12 inch and a 24-inch shapers. They require specially-crafted cutters which are not in production anywhere, so we must craft our own from special tool steel. This shows a test of Tom’s first-made shaper cutter. It worked fine, cutting a 1/8-inch-thick layer from a piece of steel. Tom plans to change the shape of his cutter blade slightly in order to achieve a better finish on the product. This Cincinnati shaper weighs about 3 tons and incorporates a ten-horsepower electric motor. What machining can we do for you? www.capitolmachineshop.com/
