Please please please do not use that seatbelt adjuster!!! It is not safe at all! The baby and you are much more protected with the normal seatbelt under your belly. These kind of adjusters are not crash tested. It is illegal in Canada to modify your seatbelt and it is probably written in the instructions manual of your car. Imagine if the plastic hook breaks during an accident, you would be flying out of the windshield. Please don't use it :(

I was going to say that too! It claims it doesn’t compromise safety but how can they claim that if it hasn’t been tested in a crash?! And like Rachel says, the seatbelt goes under the bump anyway so it sits on your pelvic bone, not on your bump.

I think this is meant for if the seatbelt doesn’t go underneath your belly and over it which is technically the proper position of the seatbelt in case of a car accident it would prevent the baby being squished by seatbelt. I definitely think talking to police or first responders is a good idea before using anything like this.

Miranda Stephens the use of the word “obviously” comes off as rude to the majority of people though. It makes the person you’re talking to feel like you are calling them dumb. I believe my philosophy professor taught us that my freshman year in a lesson about how to listen and respond to people lol

Michele Milano, as a first responder, I second this! That seat belt could easily lacerate the femoral artery in an accident that produces enough force, along with other things. Plus, just imagine the insurance nightmare that it would cause.

Came here to comment the same thing. I'm trained as a Child Passenger Safety Technician with NHTSA, and we're always emphasizing that you should never use these after market devices that alter seatbelts or child restraints.

I had that baby band when I was a nursing assistant at the hospital and pregnant. It helped support all that extra weight I was carrying around while constantly being on me feet for 12 hr shifts.

I hated the one I had. It made my back and especially pelvis and baby bump hurt way worse. I thought I might have had it on too tight but having it looseish felt the exact same. Maybe my hips were too wide 😅

Those seat belt things are dangerous and not approved to use. The concern would be if it snapped during an accident. Then there would be extra force to the abdomen.

You should try the jacket extender thing for pregnancy. Ive never had one but ive heard great things about it! Lots of women swear by it instead of buying a larger jacket or maternity jacket

I didn’t know this existed. I’m 17 weeks and my winter coat is getting to tight already. It’s November and we got 2” of snow last night! I really don’t want to spend a fortune on a new coat just for pregnancy.

You should try the universal jacket extenders they have available on amazon. A must have for our Canadian winters without having to invest in a maternity coat. Can also be used for baby wearing when not needed for maternity anymore!

Is there any point, ever, that you aren't absolutely beautiful? The baby gadgets are interesting. I wish they would have had the pillow & the wearable belt 28 years ago when I was pregnant! I was enormous and felt like if he were to get any bigger I was going to have to become a contortionist! LoL Pregnancy looks really good on you! Best wishes from Michigan!

I was not a fan of the stripes but at least it didn't have the word BABY with an arrow pointing down on it!! 🤣

The seatbelt thing apparently isn’t recommended by doctors and in an accident won’t be covered by your insurance. I wish I knew why. And what technically would make it worse than the normal crushing seatbelt right over the baby bump

Yaz Valentin it isn’t secure and in an actual accident it could potentially cause more harm and might also void your insurance. It’s like using aftermarket products in a car seat. seems like a good idea, but highly not recommended

There’s another comment higher up that said it’s unsafe for you if you get in an accident. I also saw a video where they tested it and it’s not safe. Also the seatbelt usually goes under the bump

If I was wearing a seatbelt when I was 25 weeks pregnant and got into a very bad double impact car accident, my son might not be alive today. I don’t have a “bump” until much later in pregnancy than most people, so the belt rests directly on my stomach. I was told if I was wearing it I probably would have ruptured my bag of water or detached my placenta. So having lived through that, I don’t see how this is anymore unsafe than a seatbelt being forced directly against the baby at 50 miles per hour 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sarah Mako That’s because a seatbelt is NOT supposed to go over your stomach pregnant or not. It’s meant to lay flat across your hips/thighs. So during pregnancy it’s especially important to always be sure to make sure it is being worn where it is supposed to, and that may mean constantly adjusting it.

I wish I knew about that pregnancy pillow when I had my last one 😭 The baby buds don’t make sense because sound already travels through the skin and baby can hear what’s happening around you, including your voice but more power to you if you feel like it’s worth it The support band was a life saver for me during both of my pregnancies, I got mine from a med supply store. That seatbelt thing was not crash tested in your vehicle and isn’t NHTSA approved, just a death trap waiting to happen.... keep bringing the quality content we love 💕

One of my fav hacks while pregnant is to use KT Tape on the belly. I felt like the pregnancy belt just didnt help much and was too obvious under my clothes. I could put as little or as much as I wanted or needed.

I LOVE the seatbelt adjuster! I didn’t have it for the 1st two pregnancies and complained that something like this needed to exist! I hated seatbelts with the bump. I installed it myself early in pregnancy so it was ready... I would even like it on days when my stomach is upset and I’m not pregnant!

3 things: 1. I absolutely love how you say "for baby" as if Baby is the baby's name, I do the exact same thing. Instead of saying "the baby moves a lot" I say "baby moves a lot". I'm currently 21 weeks and baby is a little acrobat. 2. I sleep with literally 5 pillows and a body pillow so I know the struggle lol. I'm extremely jealous of how my husband can just sleep anywhere 3. I love how you mimicked baby falling in your stomach. I was literally just describing that to my mom earlier today so I thought it was hilarious having you describe it as well.

Such an awesome video, thanks Rachel! I love being two weeks behind you in my pregnancy lol. I have a simple version of the support band from Thyme and I’m pretty impressed with it. I did ask my midwife about the seatbelt adjuster and she was very against it. Just like aftermarket products aren’t safe for car seats, they aren’t safe for adults either because they weren’t tested with the vehicle. There is no safety concern with having the lap belt positioned properly.

I had the exact same "maternity" band for my scoliosis 😂 It's really helps with back pain even if you're not pregnant, only problem that after sometime it gets kinda hot.

Fun cooking video idea.... You know how the Philosophy Shower products have food recipes on some of the bottles, you should do a series on making those recipes!! While using the Orange Cocoa and Cream Shower Gel the other day in the shower, I was reading the recipe on the bottle and thought you should make these recipes! :)

That pregnancy band is amazing!!! My second pregnancy I had way too much amniotic fluid in my belly and it was so tiring to walk around! In comes the belly band and life and back saver!!!🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

I have those seatbelt things in two vehicles 🙂 I feel waaay more safe with them, than with just a seatbelt - I’m a little bit paranoid about getting in an accident and the seatbelt digging into my stomach and harming the baby. I am definitely getting the pillow! Looks brilliant!

I used the baby headphones when I was pregnant. My son loved it when I put them on. When he was moving a lot I would do the story I recorded or classical music and he would settle down. Very good for bonding.

That recorder on the baby music thing is super cute! Lets say the father is away for work or out on deployment for the Army or whatever and they can record something do the baby is still hearing their voice! Awww
