We've been working on a new 56mm wheel for a while now, and last week I tested them on a pair of Balance 2 frames. I loved the way they skated, but got some wheel bite with groove tricks. Today I'm out at my favorite ledge with the same 56mm wheels on 50/50 Prime frames to see how they hold up.

Thanks for coming out and supporting our Frankenblade event, Law! It was a success and we got to help out bladers new and old in our area!

56 and 57 is the sweet spot of no wheel bite on frames that aren't dedicated flat frames.

My rec for overshooting topsides is to not aim for the frame to lock on the ledge, but aim for that line of frame bolts right on the edge of the frame.

I was a rail skater back in the day and have always struggled to get comfortable on ledges when doing topsides. With rails I would think about the soul area rather than the frame and that just doesn’t translate to ledges. Focusing on the frame area or more specifically the bolts rather than the soul is kind of light bulb moment right now. Can’t wait to try and put it into practice. Thanks for that 🎉

Yeooo. You've gotten so much better since last year. So much more relaxed and springy in your style.

The grind progression is showing in this video Law. The farfigs, true mizou, savannahs are dope. Also skating faster and land the 180s off the ledge.

hey man, I'm a ledge topside struggler as well and what really helped me with top acids and topsouls on ledge is doing 3 X-grinds prior to trying a top acid. gets me used to the angle my topside foot needs to be in and helps me commit to the top acid/topsoul after. think about it :) def gonna pick up some 60 mm white 50/50 wheels btw.

Thank you for the content. I’m 39 and overweight, your channel has been huge motivation to get back out there and have fun. Haven’t skated in like 20 years, lol. Last week when I went for my first time back, I could t even stand up. Yesterday I managed my first ramps. Takes so much energy to do now, I’m exhausted, lmao. Also, keep up the great work with 50/50. I’ve been eyeballing you guys’ products. Seem like really good quality stuff.

So fun! Nice job. I think bending your free leg and going for the grab on the back backslide will help you control your center of gravity and stabilize yourself. B/c right now your body is leaning back to make up for the weight of the free leg hanging. Anyway, it’s great to see another “adult” playing! Keep it going! It’s been a long while for me but I’m starting to feel the itch…

Good stuff for sure! I'm just getting back into blading at 41. I learned I don't bounce like I used to. 🤣

I put the Red Eye 55mm wheels in the balance 2 frames and loved that. I’d really love it if you got these 56mm wheels in either 90 or even 92a.

I may have betrayed agressive for rec, which showed up this week. K2 90s... but I'll still watch. That event is so good to bring in new recruits! Awesome. P.s. I like mega hard wheels .. and is it just me or are you more into it and able then when I was watching forever ago? Maybe all the skating for the channel keeping you fresh

Those Prime frames look great for flat!! Making those back roys/farvs look too easy! I think for the topacid it might be an idea to make that focus of the session sometime, rather than testing out new gear with all your staple tricks, then getting to top acid when your legs are already tired. I think maybe warm up with a few tricks then go straight for top acid whilst your legs are still fresh. And don't be scared to have a little weight over the outside of the ledge.. it's scary but essential for topsides on ledges.

You can’t half ass back backslides, you kind of need to go all in or they don’t happen. Looking forward to seeing you lace one 🤙

I mean I got the cheapest skates that were for sale around 1 year ago and those USD Sway 57 with Fluid IV flat frames are pretty identical but buget alternative. I am fairly confident now this setup is not good for grinding. I never really wanted to learn how to grind I both them because they looked like good Vert set up. But since I did not found a Vert Halfpipe in 500 KM radious I am now stuck at learining grinds. All I can do with this setup is frontside and royale. My sole plate takes grind too literally and does not slide. I am happy to see this videos because we need to see what better skilled riders can do with this setup that are not super pros that can do anything with everything. I am now testing my new 2 wheel freestyle frames because I decided to skip Antirocker and get rid of any dummy wheels that are useless. But ledge grinds are ... not an option with my current set-up.

I think it might be beneficial if you were to let some of those more seasoned locals do some testing for you. It makes testing inconclusive when your objective is achieving other goals that you're setting for yourself. While you're trying to land a top acid or back back is awesome & I'm sure everything's rooting for you but from a consumer's perspective, it doesn't exactly lend inspiration nor make one think, "damn, I need those frames" by watching you or anyone else for that matter, not lacing any of the grinds you've set out to do. Meanwhile you have those locals with a bagful of grinds shredding in the background that could give you & the consumer insight & feedback. I realize that's what you have sponsored Pros for but you're not trying to sell product to Pros who'll do what they do regardless of what skate, frames, wheels & bearings they're riding. Just thinking out loud.

Yeah, this is for his own content. You think it would promote the brand when he sets goals he can't reach, and always has an excuse for? He should be skating anti-rocker, but always has to attempt something as a promoter. He can do tricks, but when he cant, its always at some fault or excuse. Why the hell did you film it then? RU-vid skaters are just B-roll film.

Hi Lawrence, could u do a gear talk about wheel core debonding/separation? I have over 60 wheels set aside that that broke with the same issue. I never had your 50/50 wheels but on my wheel cemetery i have Ground Control, Kryptonics, Hyper (many), USD, Red Eye, Gawds, Razors and Rollerblade. I unfortunately can say this translates to $500 dollars flushed down the drain completely wasted.
@BacktoBlading
@BacktoBlading Год назад
I can make a note of it. In my understanding, that has a lot to do with urethane quality, skating conditions and core design. I think as you’ve had it happen with multiple brands, it might be the way you skate causing extra stress on the hub. Maybe harder wheels would help?
@AmassMoreMoney

Will you be adding the 56mm wheels to the core developer kit?
