Is your blower motor fan not turning off even with the key off? Having to pull the blower fan fuse just to keep the battery from dying? This video shows you how to test and ultimately repair this issue which is common on mid-2000's Chevy and GMC trucks and SUVs.
Thanks for watching!

All control mechanisms have a limited shelf life.. Even the light switch on the wall of your house, the solenoid on your starter, the relay running your fuel pump, the headlight switch behind your steering wheel.. etc. etc.. When you're dealing with something physically making and breaking contact while the power is still flowing through it, it will always arc and spark, and get carbon build up over time.... One of the only things that doesn't do that is power through induction; For example, when you set your phone onto a wireless charger, it starts transferring power without ever turning on a physical switch

Next time it would be nice to see you pull the resistor apart, just to see what's actually inside and how it works. Cheers.

I wasn't expecting the blower motor "processor" to have its own 5v regulator for the hvac module to pull-down. Apparently it's more than just a resistor!
@GoTechTraining
@GoTechTraining Год назад
Hello, I wasn't either, I originally had the blower processor disconnected and was looking for a signal output from the HVAC module. Pretty cool system! ~Ryan Wilsing

My guess is that the pigtail is not for a new design? but maybe in preparation for an overheated pigtail that is discolored? Thank you for the video. I am also wondering if what you called the resistor is actually the blower motor processor on the schematic since the head unit controls the speed via PWM and not a set of resistors like the old-school units, cheers.
@GoTechTraining
@GoTechTraining Год назад
Hey Duane, You are correct, the blower resistor is called the processor on the schematic. Thanks for watching! ~Ryan Wilsing

what i like is my 1994 ram 2500 has a knob that controls how hot or cold. a knob that controls speed it has a resister also but there aren't any computer controls controlling heater and guess what i have good heat and good ac and so easy to work on heat without a computer how can it be. its wonderful

What did you hook your computer up to or your multimeter?

Had this happen on a Ford Transit Diesel if I recall correctly. Those resistors are expensive.

I agree! If the blower motor is drawing excessive amperage and needs to be replaced also this repair can be really expensive Especially for a system that works, just won't stop working! Thanks for watching! ~Ryan Wilsing

You know what actually would be great. To Diagnose the fault the old fashion way not using a scope.... Do a Video on that. Basic Diagnostics.......
@GoTechTraining
@GoTechTraining Год назад
Hello, We do use a multimeter in the video, and show the difference in readings between the scope and meter. I agree a scope does not have to be used to get a diagnosis on this issue, but it is nice to see a clean pattern from the hvac control module. Thanks for reaching out! ~Ryan

A square wave is square; in other words, 50% ON TIME and 50% OFF TIME. That is a Pulse Width Modulated Wave; the ON TIME and OFF TIME changes as commanded.

At 4:55 you say it needs a blower motor resistor... a minute later, 5:58, you say it needs a processor! hmmm?

Hey Rick, Sorry for the confusion, the blower motor resistor is called a processor on the wiring diagram due to it being a auto system. They are two names for the same part. Thanks for watching! ~Ryan
