I recently installed a new iPad mount, applying the minimalist approach which I generally prefer. I'll share the details and let you ride along for my first flight testing it out, including a coupled ILS approach.
This is a pretty typical practice flight, with a few touch and goes and a couple of approaches to help me stay sharp running the equipment.

Awesome video, thanks. I’m based out of the landings, 82IS, just a short flight away.

I am really impressed with your panel. You have really made that Cardinal a nice plane.

Interesting. I bought an iPad Air a few days ago so it's bigger than yours I think. I considered fabricating a similar mount for the yoke but went for a RAM mount on the upper right side of the panel where I've seen folks mount one before. The way this panel is laid out on this 75' , it was about the only other option. I haven't got Foreflight just yet as im trying IflyGPS for 90 days. It has some interesting features I'm trying to learn. One of those is very valuable for the LA area. It will make a flight plan for you keeping you out of controlled air space and give you the best altitudes and routing for wind and weather. I'll see if it really works! Anyway, I also tried a fancy knee board for an iPad but the yoke kept hitting it so that's a non starter. Next idea is one mounted to the seat rails. Interesting video. Thank you!

I had a couple of other ideas rattling around too. One was the lower left panel, which is pretty blank on mine. I do have a center console option which would be like your seat rail ID, which I also considered. But that would be heads down time, not ideal. And dipping your head is very bad while IFR. And it's in the way of throttle action, plus interfering more with passengers. Still, worth considering! As for panel mounts, especially upper right, text size is a significant factor, so I'd encourage holding the device where you're thinking about mounting it to make sure you can see it, read it and touch it. Most of these apps call for a lot of accurate touching...
