First bending test on the newly developed PUSS (Prefab Ultra-lightweight Slab System) product with a new breed of shear connectors (horizontal shear studs and steel dowels).
TEST 1 - COMPLETED
Concrete type: NWC with density 2250 kg/m3
Slab Span: 4000 mm
Loading rate (Displacement controlled): 1mm /minute
Test Duration: 3 hours
SLS load: for SLS = L/360, load was 279 kN & for SLS = L/500, Load was 222 kN
SLS mid-span bending moment: for SLS = L/360, BM was 222 kN.m & for SLS = L/500, BM was 280 kN.m
ULD Capacity: 581 kN & Ultimate Bending Moment 449 kN.m
Destruction Load was not reached as the test stopped at the maximum opening of the hydraulic jack which is around 165mm, at this opening, the load was just a little bit less than ULD
PhD student: Mr Ahmed Alali (University of Leeds)
Project supervisor: Professor Konstantinos Daniel Tsavdaridis (City, University of London)
Video production: Professor Konstantinos Daniel Tsavdaridis
