On the Swedish waters of Volvo Penta’s Krossholmen Test Center, extensive testing is underway to set new standards and refine the Volvo Penta IPS Professional Platform. This system is being tested to ensure it delivers the ultimate experience at sea through flexibility, reliability, and performance.
A key element of this rigorous approach is the vessel Penta 40. This 37 m, 199-passenger ferry, which navigated the challenging Norwegian seas for nearly two decades, has been repowered with the Volvo Penta IPS Professional Platform.
Volvo Penta is logging thousands of hours in stringent trials of the system’s fully integrated helm-to-prop experience, including its intelligent dual power drive system, smart power sources, and integrated technologies. The intelligent Eco Mode feature, which optimizes engine performance and fuel consumption, is being tested extensively.
