Does this Mustang have lowering springs?

Yes, you can use the Koni Active with the Steeda Progressive springs and it will give a great ride. They are automatically adjusting with the way they're built. It's not manually adjustable

@@steedaautosports Köni itself insists that these Special Active dampers are designed to be used with OEM springs and not with lowering springs. So, are you sure about this?

@@gokceaydin3324 I've seen plenty of folks running Koni Special Active and lowering springs with no issue. They can accommodate a mild drop no problem. As long as you're not slamming it or going reallly low you'll be fine

Definitely. Switching between the cars the original felt twitchy and nervous, while the Koni felt really fluid and controlled. I can't overstate how much they transform the car. The difference in confidence was huge and much more so again when on bumpy roads. The brilliant thing about this technology was how they managed to gain so much more comfort while actually improving the car's handling and control. The intrusion of bumps ruined the experience on the standard car; with the Koni's you have a better feel for the car and what the chassis was doing because you aren't being jarred by every minor bump. It communicated the road conditions and retained a firmness to the car while no longer being harsh or jarring. The car felt flatter, more controlled, smoother, more comfortable, and was safer, faster, and much more enjoyable to drive at any speed. Every metric of what dampers can affect in a car was improved.

My 2 cents on the matter is that if your dampers (Shocks) have more dampening than the Konie's then no, they wont improve your body roll or handling on a smooth surface (i.e. Track). However; If you think of the road as a SIN wave or frequency these shocks can adjust to various Hz's (i.e various road conditions). How does this translate to driving? well, it is my opinion that a lot of cars with sifter coil overs or aftermarket suspensions are over dampened making cars over react to imperfections in the road and sometimes decreasing the contact patch between the tire and road, they also have only one Ideal dampening frequency which trips Dampers (shocks) up when they encounter continuous imperfections. This is why people report an increase in driver confidence when installing these dampers (shocks), the car will be better planted over a wider range of conditions. That being said it is also possible that the Koni actives have more dampening at their max stiffness setting than what you're currently running, which will increase your performance on smooth surfaces. Just remember the real world isn't smooth.

@@pasttraveller5767 supposedly comfy, it goes stiff when the bumps are at less then 10hz, so high impact are high damping (like with hard turning), low impact but high frequency are low damping (like with a really bumpy road) so it starts floating

@@THEedcbb3 what would this do with a high impact at high speed, for example, a sharp bump at high speed, will it float or will it try to crush your spine?

@@mad4tar77 I'm guessing itll try to pull your spine out through your ass. But even at max rebound it's still not super stiff, so probably wouldn't be as floaty as OEM, but wouldn't hit you as much as race spec coilovers

@@mad4tar77 actually had a quick look at their website, they're less stiff than Koni streets, so don't think it turn your pelvis into powder, but probably still enough to prolapse your sacred bagel and then give you some sloppy heading around a corner

It's not manually adjustable, so you could get more suitable setups than the Koni Active

Not designed for lower than oem ride height, they are position sensitive due to the bypass channels in ride zone. Thats what gives the ride comfort. As it compresses it closed off the bypass channels and forces it through the piston. Thats the magic of this design. Small bump compliance without harsh dampening like sport tuned dampers.

Yes they do, Koni has rear shocks for the S197 you can find here -> www.steeda.com/koni-8245-1405-s197-special-active-shock There are also front struts on our site depending on if you have an 05-10 or 11-14.

@@steedaautosports thanks so much. My goal is better comfort but I’m apprehensive because I don’t wanna end up with a stiff bone shaking ride. I’ve had koni yellows with lowering springs before and it was way too harsh even when adjusted to max compliance

If you are looking it like that, nothing is absorbing the shock. The shock is a force, and energy is not lost. In both cases, the energy from the shock is stored as energy in both the spring and the "shock" itself. The potential energy is stored as a result of deformation in the spring, and the sping will kick it straight back, the "shock absorber" is the one that makes the deformation of the spring smooth.

The shock is absorbed by making kinetic energy into heat, i.e movement to heat. The shock and control of the movements as a result of the shock/reactions and counter reactions following the shock, is done by the combination of damper and spring. A spring and damper can be constructed in many different ways. The spring isn´t the only part that absorbs the shock, as the damper also absorbs shock trough its low speed or high speed movements (depending on frequenzy or abruptness of the shock). Even without a spring the damper would still absorb shock, tough obviously not optimally.

Wow that sucks! I read great things about the Koni Red + Eibach Prokit springs combo for the Mazda3, so I went ahead and bought it and going to install it Spring. Maybe get stiffer springs for your Golf? I know you'll be spending more money so it's up to you. Best reccomendation I can make
