For the fish tank you could have use structure void because it's just like a barrier block but the player can go through it.

You know, instead of using a debug stick or barriers you can just use a structure void and put it on. The outside players can walk through it but water and liquids cannot escape. 😂

I recommend you use a structure void block. It will block water and lava but you can go through it and all other entities
