This is educational content. This shows the importance of eating before drinking. It can save you from dumb decisions, alcohol poisoning and just plain overdoing it in a short time. This is why, whenever my friend group meets up to drink during events like newyears, i always make them eat something first and always carry some food with me

I don't drink alcohol, but I noticed the same with coffee. On an empty stomach it makes me all jittery and nervous, while on a full one it just feels good and makes me happy

But just so everyone knows, eating after you’ve already been drinking does not “soak up the booze.” You have to eat beforehand for this effect.

This explains why about a year ago I, at the ripe age of 25, got blackout drunk for the very first time in my life ever. It was one of those nights where you go out because you "have to" (I was volunteering to bartend for free at a local festival, so there was no way I could say no last minute), it had been a very long day at work for me, I was tired, felt slightly sick before going out and generally just didn't want to go. I also didn't have much food for dinner. Well, friends started coming in, shots started going around and before I know it, I'm out. It's so unlike me and I was so embarrassed lmaooo. Never again. That was a hangover to forget.

First time I went out drinking I went with my cousins and made sure I ate before going, had a bunch of drinks, and drank a crap ton of water afterward. I honestly didn't feel very different from when I was sober besides being a little more stumbly but I have also managed to trip over thin air while sober

When you drink on an empty stomach, the stomach knows there is no solids to digest so it passes the liquid to the intestines and is absorbed into the body there. If there are solids on the stomach the digestive process remains in the stomach and is absorbed there. So your drunkenness depends directly on weather the alcohol was absorbed through your stomach or intestines.

I discovered this the hard way my first time drinking. It was a small new years party. We had snacks, but I ate very little before hand. I had 2 seagrams and 2 or 3 mixed drinks that had 4-7 vodka shots total (I didn't make one of them so idk for sure) and we were smoking 🍃 so I was crossfaded as fuck. They tried to get me some bread but I refused since it was white bread and my friends forgot to make me eat. I woke up still drunk and I think I was for 12 hours straight

This is actually so clever! If you’re planning on going to a dinner and drinking you have to wait 4 hours only to drive home, but if you’re planning on going to a rager, go on an empty stomach then you won’t have to drink as much to get just as drunk 😂

For those who are wondering why this works, heres why: Normally the alcohol gets absorbed in the stomach. So when you havent eaten and your stoamch is empty, the alcohol gets absorbed really fast in large amounts and takes a long time to burn off. When you eat before alcohol it cant be absorbed in the stomach really quick and gets absorbed slower.

This is how I realized I needed to stop drinking for awhile lol, that was 6 years ago. But I kept finding myself purposely not eating if I was going to be drinking and yep Im positive I had a problem, not eating just to get more buzzed goodness! Now I can handle 2 white claws with food lol.

I figured this out on pure accident myself💀💀 I went out to town with my mum and brother ONLY to buy groceries but the liquor store is right next to the gas station and so when my mum went inside to pay for gas I snuck in and bought myself a pink Whitney (I’m 22 yeah but like most parents, my mum doesn’t like me drinking) and on top of that we had left 10 am (I’m not a morning person) so I didn’t eat breakfast or lunch so when I got home, I cracked open the bottle and had quite a few shots. I felt fine cause I was sitting during those shots and finally had decided to go to the bathroom and immediately when I stood up felt all the shots I had just taken hit me all at once the a f$&king semi truck💀💀🤚

The most elite drinking experience is drinking on an empty stomach and then when you start feeling it eat something. The food tastes better and you maintain a sweet buzz but you don’t get so messed up that you get sloppy

Oh I definitely noticed this on myself. I generally don’t drink much, except for around Christmas. I’ve never been actually drunk before either, until recently. So then, We had a Christmas party at school with mulled wine, and for certain reasons, I was simply stuffing my face with mulled wine. It was noon and I didn’t have breakfast, but I didn’t think about that. The party only went on for about an hour, in which I had about a bottle of wine, and while I still felt good when walking out of the school building, it really hit me when I was on the train back home by myself about half an hour later. Like, I could barely sit upright, there were strangers talking to me and I was slurring so hard, I couldn’t properly respond, and it was just a whole shitshow. Somehow managed not to throw up or fall over even though I felt nauseous for the next day. In hindsight, this was incredibly dangerous and stupid. Kids, don’t be like me. Don’t test your limits at a school party when you have to find your way home alone afterwards. And especially don’t do so on an empty stomach.

Took me a minute to realize Americans measure BAC differently. In Europe you measure in Permille not Percent, means 0.046% would just ve 0.46‰
