As a software developer I think the app could be improved by letting the user set the background colour to their skin colour. This would help with colour matching.

What I thought too. I watched Robert reviewing YSL one and when he mentioned having white would improve it a lot. And this one has more primary colours as well. More possibilities and shades with lesser price.
I was thinking this one might be cooler but because the colours are all set colours it doesn’t seem great. You could just buy liquid lipstick and do this yourself without all the excess stuff. And because it’s all set pumps it doesn’t seem very customisable. I feel like they both have a lot to improve on. I think this one would be improved on if it had more of a colour wheel than set colours and it would also be cool if they did the think were you could choose a colour from a photo and it will tell you how to get it. If the two products were combined it would make something that I think would be worth it.
this is still expensive when you can get a lot of shades of lipstick that you want for cheaper. BUT this would be fun to play with and experiment with.
But YSL one can pick color from any real life object and provide instructions on creating that color. I've yet to see any reviewer being able to do that with this one.

@@iamtheonewhocares The kit has primary colors, and brown can be created with a mix of yellow red and black :). We’ve literally broken down colors to their basic forms so you can make pretty much any color, including brown.
I also like how I wouldn’t have to remake the same color over and over again with this one. With the YSL one, there’s no container, it’s a one time thing. That also leads to product being wasted if you aren’t using it on your cheeks/lids.
It can not customize color to the T, because it dispenses fixed amount of color every single time and to make shades sometimes one only needs just a touch of the color. I am a painter, so I mix and match all kind of colors and they can definitely make this ground breaking product with little bit of tweaking. Still, it does such a great job in providing array of lipstick shades and reducing wastage.
Hey! You can actually use the bullets inside to pump out tiny bits as well. The system is created by an artist as well, so we totally get you. :) The reason for making the kit more 'measured' was to make it more accessible to those who don't necessarily understand color theory.
Wow this is not as expensive as I expected, 70$ isn't too bad if you compare most decent brand lipstick prices per the color cartridge volume and you can make your own colors.
@@celynette3537 Yeah! Especially compared to this „luxury” brand attempt at something like this from a while ago, Robert Welsh did a review and it was a dud. Don’t remember which brand it was. I also like that you don’t necessarily need the app for this to work. The app just shows you color recipes, you can make them up yourself.
I think this is soooo epic, I have so many lippies that I never ever use up because I keep wanting new colors, so this gives you the freedom to create new colors but you're not creating crazy amounts of it, so you can change it up often without needing to throw stuff away because you've had it for so long
This would be great for makeup artists. Client can choose the colours or the makeup artist can match an appropriate colour based on the person skin tone.
This is genius! If they come out with a V2 that addresses some concerns, mostly the app, this would be such a hot seller. I might brush up on my color theory, and buy it bc it would clear up so much space thats taken up with lipsticks I buy but wear like twice
Thank you :). The app will always be work in progress. We’ve literally created our product and brand from a garage (spare third bedroom in a house of 2 kids, to be precise) :). But the app definitely will go through a lot of iterations. You’ll be able to virtually try-on colors before making them and even get recommended looks to match your outfits, skintone and undertone.
I've watched the review on YSL one and after watching this one i could say that i'd prefer this one more not just because ysl one is expensive but it has fewer option for different shades whilst this one has more
the exact match is issue because every device/phone display a particular colour differently that is why when you need true colour like in fabric industry atleast Pantone chips are used so everyone has clear idea of colour
This is the first lip product that I could actually see how smooth it was. Btw the matte orange is really gorgeous on you , and the pink as well in both cases
Came back here because I just got an idea. What if you use a randomizer or a roulette thingy to determine the color and number of pumps. It would be fun to see what color comes out. Or maybe do it for the full face, like have a diff roulette for your eyeshadow shade, blush, etc.
This looks like a fun device that is similar to mixing pods to get the right shade you want but this is less of a mess and can be carried away with you. Thanks for doing this. :)
Maybe the colors didn't match because of your phone screen settings. Your phone screen's light seemed a bit on the warmer side. But usually, colors differ from one screen to another, and from screens to reality. I dunno if the developers had that in mind while making the app.

I also saw the YSL kit earlier and I thought what a waste of money just mix any pink lip colors yourself and now today when you posted this , it's just so much better , I mean you can literally creat ANY color with it, loved the idea and the video 🥰🥰🥰.
It could also be that your phone screen display color differently that theirs. It happens all the time that different screens are calibrated differently

This actually seems so muchhhh better than the ysl gadget( was it ysl or dior? Lol) Because it has all the primary colors and you can make unlimited colors with it
With “paint” mixing you need a bright yellow a magenta and a cyan color or the mixing won’t turn out like it should and get “muddy” from their website I’m guessing they used the cool color set up for most of the color mixing or a combination of the warm and cold colors Also that bright pink it needed a spek of blue to “muddy” it to make it more of a dusky pink 😘
I really like this concept, so much fun! If your screen is set to warmer colours than they expect then the colours might not match as well, it could be that. I like it that the formula itself plus the drops make the whole product even more versatile. Really cool gadget!
That's so fun, I love the idea of being able to try any lipstick color you want at any time. I don't wear makeup, but if I did I would definitely want one of those!

This is so cool!! If I was a MUA I would for sure get this for my kit. Heck even as a make up lover, I want to try it. I never used up a lipstick and they all just go bad. I guess its just not that convenient for everyday use.
This one seems 100000x better than the trashy YSL one tbh. I really enjoy how it also come with the moisture drops and also it can cater towards your skin tone too!
I feel like it will be hard to make toned down colours with this kit, like a dusty pink or something. Either you would need a lot more pumps of the brighter colours (and therefore creating a lot more lipcolour than you might need) because adding one whole pump of either blue or black can be very darkening to the colour, or you would need to experiment with adding only very small amounts of the darker colour, which defeats the purpose of the 'recipes' and the pump system....
Dusky pink... a couple pumps white, a tiny bit of Tina's 2nd mix purple, a bigger bit of 3rd mix pink🤔? If the white was way too little to the amount of pink(red), new container of white and add a smidge at a time of the too-pink lipstick. I know oil paints often run out of the white paint first, good thing if they have single cartridges available☺
TT only if we could hire you! :)… absolutely spot on, for a dusty pink, depending on the undertone, you’d have to mix a tad bit of black or blue. You can literally made a ton of muted colors with the kit.
A thought about the pigments with adding the moisture drops. Maybe you have to use only one drop in an amount you did first and 2 drops where too much for the small amount especialy after using a bit for the first application?! Oooh, hope my English makes it understandable what I mean. 😊
That is SO COOL! Eff the YSL lip machine that is $500-800? And they don’t even have any black, white, yellow so you’re constantly changing the cartridges. I’m going to tell Saf about this !
This reminds me of the YSL one but I feel like this is better because its cheaper and it uses primary colours, and black and white, which can make any colour!
This actually reminds me, when i was a kid, there were some ballpoint pens with black, blue, green and red and, 4 in 1 and the body of the pen was like this too!!!! Makes me feel nostalgic also yeay color theory, any artist will love!!!! By the way!!! It depends on how your phone display is calibrated, same to laptops and so on!!! The difference in brightness/darkness/saturation could also because of your phone! Big dip/small dip, counts a lot the force you are putting !! It is not like a semi automatic pippette calibrated properly where u count to ųl... also i have to say... it is also like a printer. First the colors have to be warmed up a lil...then you do printing test to see how colors show up...
I'm surprised how much the tone of the colour changed after you added the moisture drops. Also the tone of your lips will change how a colour looks, like the plum looked a little cooler on your lips. Gorgeous colours though and amazing pigment levels.
This is already better lipstick printer than that of YSL, YSL one basically mixing the existing color of their lipstick and i'd say u could do that by mixing your lipstick urself than to spend 200 dollars. But this one can really custom the colour bcs of the basic color which I really like the concept of... This could really work with supporting apps like YSL one does so it can match and mix the lipstick.. but this definitely definitely better and have wider color selection than thats of YSL
Does the app try and take your natural lip color into consideration when giving you a recipe? I'm wondering how well this would work with someone that has dark skin, and therefore much darker lips. Its great that it's so one coat/opaque!
Hey Lissa! That’s where we’re heading, although currently the app does not recommend based on skintone particularly. However you can find you ‘color season’ on the app, and it throws a bunch of colors most suited for your color season. The app is work in progress, and we’ll always keep iterating based on usage and feedback :).
