i did same with skoda favorit on icy , empty parking lot and tried to drift with pulling parking brake and steering wheel rotating, no problem, very interesting, big fun

Actually those are specifically designed patterns to increase contrast in images/ film and assist in analyses of rotational movement around an axis.

In Mexico we still drive buses without abs or any other security system

The O303 where my favorite when I started as a busdriver. Simple to manage, and feeling safe no matter the conditions. North Norway winter of 96/97 was a recordbreaker when it comes to snow. And the Mercedes was my safe haven. Never a problem with engine or electrics. Sometimes the brakes where filled with snow, so before the next willage, check up test was nessesary.

i remember these buses from childhood days. most distinctive part was the curved side windows.

as far as i know all german car/bus/truck manufacturer go to Sweden for testing their vehicles in cold coditions ... they go there for several dacades now because in Germany we do not have the constant cold weather over a longer period they need for all their tests

I hate to be that guy, but that's actually a SAAB 35 Draken... And it's was not just the germans who came to Sweden to test out their new cars in winter conditions, Many other european car makers did do some testing in Sweden back in the days.

That plane belongs to Finnish Air Force. In front there is Finnish Air Force logo (white circle with blue line). The test track is in Rovaniemi Airport (ICAO: EFRO) which is airport for both commercial and military aviation. Back in goog old days, even Concorde was regular guest bringing British to see Santa Claus and Northern Lights. The test track used by Mercedes is still activily used by them. I visited there last 2019 when there was MB Actros and MB Intouro being tested. Interesting place. Hotel were I stayed was full of German engineers. Had fun with them chatting about cars and having some sauna same time. If you search in RU-vid for example with words Daimler, Bus and Winter, you find for example couple official test/commercial videos made by Daimler AG (Mercedes-Benz).

I’d say not video at all, but film. Probably 16mm maybe 35mm. It could be 8mm, but I don’t think it would look this good if it was.

I would say 16mm. 8 mm would be too grainy and 35mm would be too clear.

I would say it's 16 mm film with high quality lens. Or maybe even super 16 mm because that standard is old enough and they were shooting long things so widescreen format would have been beneficial of engineering purposes.

And even cars with ESP can oversteer if the car is not up to the original spec. I drove a VW Passat 2010 with ABS+ESP system which oversteered when taking hard right hand corners during the winter. The cause of this problem was that the bottom end of the left rear spring had damage (about the last 5 cm from the final coil turn was broken) which didn't yet cause any other problems but the oversteering vanished when the spring was fixed.

They nowadays also often have one in the passenger cars used in the slippery weather's training, which of course is mandatory for all driving license students. Teacher turns the ABS off for trying braking while cornering without driver aids. Anyway for myself, the most interesting trip there wasn't with a passenger car or neither with a truck and a trailer, but with a Sisu XA-180 APC. While doing the braking and obstacle avoiding test there, the XA-180 always stalled its engine, because the torque converter wasn't fast enough to decouple the drive line. That resulted in a sideways sliding which seemed to last for an eternity, while I was turning two axles of off-road wheels without any help from power steering, which of course didn't receive any power from engine in that moment anymore.

It's not just Mercedes. It's every car company these days. You can thank every government around the world for their "electrification and emissions" BS despite the fact combustion cars are more efficient than they've ever been and continue to improve every year. The car manufacturers can't do anything about it, their hands are tied if they want to keep selling cars into the future that is. Electric cars will be the death of "soulful motoring" and the birth of another "lifeless appliance" Just like all the things we use in our kitchen.. Despite the fact when you account for the damage to the earth battery material mining AND battery disposal does to the environment most battery powered cars are more destructive to the environment than combustion cars.. Yet Karen's everywhere will tell you to buy an EV or Hybrid to be "more green." Purely disgusting on every level.. Cars are nothing but "appliances" to people anymore. They don't care how it makes them feel or what it stirs in their soul. All they want is transportation. It's quite sad to me really.. Who cares if it does 0 - 60 in 2 seconds if it's boring to drive and has no "emotions or life?" I sure as heck don't care. I'd drive a slower but more fun to drive car all day long. That's what really matters, not just how fast it can accelerate..
