Great example of how the wick response to different fragrances, and dyes. I must admit that I do get caught up in the PERFECT Candle but I do agree with your statement of a SAFE candle is a better candle for our customers. I was beating on the peach ( Red ) to come through at the end. Glad it did turned out well. Keep making these down to earth video's.

Great video and so detailed! You mentioned that since the chocolate one was mushrooming, that maybe these wicks aren't the best for this wax and container. Does that mean you'd prefer to find one wick size for all the FO's? Cause what if the chocolate just needs a smaller wick size like a CD 5 or something? I know it would be so convenient to find one wick that works for all the FO's but so far that hasn't been my experience with coco 83 testing. A wick that works for vanilla for example, doesn't work as well for rose so I have to do separate testing completely. Maybe I'm making it too hard

I have watch several of your videos since 9am I really want to get into to this so right now I’m just in taking the info so far this video was really informative an I must add I purchase a lot of candles from major companies already established an I kid you not I wonder if they waste this much time in preparation which I don’t think so.. I purchased 11 large candles in December from bath an body an need to say by time December comes again I have maybe 4 left just depending what I have notice is the candles burn really fast an they never burn all the way I would say I got a bad batch but I had several different kind saying this to say thanks for the information I never knew it was such a thing the way a candle burn is wrong or right.. so it’s really funny the things you learn an think back... I wish I success young lady an I have been watching these videos wondering why no one teaching is just saying ok buy this wick with this jar this seems to b a headache but I’m enjoying your videos

Hi Erica.. l like your video and I would like to ask you a question.. since these candles are smaller than a 3" size jar, I was wondering if the 4 hours time that you burned for is too long? Just asking.. I was thinking 3 hours maybe just fine since they are less than 3". I would like your feed back it help with my experience of crafting a good candle.

Hi. Can you please explain why you don't let it burn to the ends for a complete wax pool on the first burn?
@MemoryBoxCandleCo
@MemoryBoxCandleCo 4 года назад
It’s because if it’s hot enough to create a full melt pool after the first burn then that means it’s going to be WAY too hot once it reaches the middle of the jar

Where do you purchase your Fragrance oils?
@cbpapp
@cbpapp 4 года назад
I used ECO wicks per the pdf I purchased from Jeff Standley for the virgin coconut soy I’m currently testing. I like to understand different processes. In your testing process you choose not to achieve a full melt pool on the initial burn. So, you only burn your candles in two hour increments, do I understand that correctly? Could you please explain why you do not allow your candles to achieve a full melt pool? I like to consider everyone’s process and theory behind it. Thank you for making and sharing this video, Erica! 💗🕯
@MemoryBoxCandleCo
@MemoryBoxCandleCo 4 года назад
I actually heard from a fellow candle making friend that she suggested to use eco wicks with this coconut wax. And no I burned them in 3.5-4 hour increments (I just chose to update you guys at around 2 hours to show you what it looked like ☺️) And I have learned from many other experienced candle makers, and from the guys over at cal candle supply that you don’t want to achieve a full melt pool after the first few burns. The reason is because if the wick is big and hot enough to reach full melt pool at the top of the candle, then as it burns down lower in the jar it will become WAY too hot. This is why I always preach having a safe candle instead of a “perfect” candle. I’ve seen many posts that people’s candles burst because the flame is waaayy too hot and it’s way too over wicked. That’s just my theory that I’ve been going with ☺️ Thank you so much for watching!!

Maybe I’m wrong, but I’ve read that you want to achieve full melt pool on first burn in 2 to 3 hours. If the wick is too small for the jar, it won’t reach full melt pool. If wick is too big, the depth of the melt pool will be big and the flame will flicker and be high. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I could be mistaken. Either way, I don’t use cotton wicks. lol wooden wicks are so much easier.
@MemoryBoxCandleCo
@MemoryBoxCandleCo 4 года назад
I’ve heard wood wicks are easier 😅 It’s just what I’ve learned from the guys at California candle supply and the coconut wax FB group that you shouldn’t reach full melt pool with the first burn because then it will be way too hot once it reaches the middle of the jar. Again this is just something I’ve been testing and what I base my testing off of. But I know everyone is different :) I have seen too many candles that “explode” because they were over-wicked and I would rather create a safe candle than a perfect candle ❤️
@bril5018
@bril5018 4 года назад
I love your videos!! So, according to 6:18 we should not have a full melt pool in 3-4hrs during testing?!?
@MemoryBoxCandleCo
@MemoryBoxCandleCo 4 года назад
So I’ve heard conflicting options on this. However, from what I heard is that you don’t want to have the wick create a full melt pool within the first burn because then as it burns lower in the vessel, it will burn way too hot (because candles always burn hotter the lower they go) I strive for almost a full melt pool within the first two burns, and then have the level out and melt down the sides after that. However, I’m still learning! I’ve only had experience using two wicks because of the jars I currently use. However, right now I’m testing out one wicks in my tins and I’m trying to get it right!

I'm confused as to why you are testing it because if you were testing against how well your own candles perform as an example these would never compare. You make your candles a specific way which you chose not to do with these. I always thought these were meant more for the hobbyist. If you made these exactly the way you do yours that would have been a more comparable result.
