Thank you for this very practical demonstration of the S40. It has been a great help to me to see it actually being used on the golf course. I have viewed many clips about this watch but yours is the most helpful.
Thanks, really kind of you. In the meantime, I have made two additional clips on additional aspects: registering putts, and quickstart (not waiting for "locating satellites").
Thank you for your very practical review. I enjoyed the fact that you played a couple of holes and used the watch to show how it worked for you, and for those of us considering getting this golf watch.
Thanks. Looking back, the video is perhaps a bit long. One good thing that I might show in a next clip: you can set your handicap and it will calculate the stableford points for you, depending on the registered slope of the course you are playing on. That is a nice feature, though you need to be vigilant. The reason, and that is a negative point: it does not always register a stroke, that can happen even when hitting a drive, and more often when you are chipping close to a green: either the stroke is too "soft" for the watch to register it, or it thinks you are on the green and have already ended the round and then prompts you with the default number of putts (2) --
Thanks - even though I use my watch regularly, I hadn’t even noticed that feature. Ithanks a lot for the siggestion. I “ ll check if that color coding is of real help and will gladly make a video about that feature. Thanks ..
thanks a lot for your very kind comment. I am quite surprised, actually, that this clip seems quite successful.. And I am glad that it seemed to be of use to some viewers.
a late thanks from my GT channel... As you are from Denmark, I added a description and subtitles in Danish (using Deepl and google translate) - I hope this might be useful for others in your country.
You mean club analytics? I recently made this clip: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KXxwOEfmX3U.html / as to "shop tracking information" I don't quite understand what you mean to say, feel free to write to me either here in the comments or direct message (contact info is on my channel page).
Thx. Very helpful information. I have owned this watch for about one and a half years already. Finally I can say I know how to navigate thru it. Thx to you.
Thanks for a great video. I have the S40 watch too but for some reason it’s not coming up with “select club” after I hit my shot? Any idea how to activate this? All my clubs are in the app too..
You're welcome. I'm on vacation in Mexico right now (and filming, too) but did not bring my golf watch with me. If I remember, I'll look it up once I get back to Switzerland and will reply here.
Doesn't seem very intuitive. Seems like if you want all the info you have to put it all in manually. Also what happens when it inevitably guesses your club wrong because of a mishit
If you select to be shown the clubs, the Garmin will offer a selection of clubs (the range is actually quite correct as it is based on earlier distances) and then you simply select the one with which you just hit. That is more for overall stroke analysis, if, after several rounds, you wish to know what your average distance is with each club. Normally I usually don't do such an indepth analysis of my play..
Hello! Does this watch automatically go to the scoring screen to put in your stroke information once you are on the green? Or do you have to Manually go to it?
You are prompted with „start keeping score“ or so than you can select yes or no. I don‘t have the watch with me right now as I am travelling, but that is what I remember.
Once you are done with the hole there is a "pencil icon" at the bottom of the watch. Hit that abd enter your score, or even cooler is as you get far enough away from the green you were just playing the watch will vibrate and show what par was for the hole u just completed with + - arrows to add or hopefully subtract from par. I can't seem to find the screen that lets me count putts.
Indeed, it does not REGISTER putts. As I tried to explain, at the end of a round, the Garmin assumes that you did 2 putts. But you will need to check the strokes after each hole and add or subtract putts to the counter. That was a bit easier in the TomTom golfer 2 where you just had to hold your hand over the screen and it would register a stroke/or putt, and you could also easily delete a stroke if it accidentally had registered one. In the Garmin it is possible to open the menu while playing and select "scorecard", then the respective hole and change whatever you want to change.. While at the beginning a bit bothersome, I did get used to the Garmin's way of counting though. Enjoy your rounds.
Ok, I tough that I can’t register putts at all. But I found how to do it. The watch is OK for me and better than Tom Tom Golfer 2 which I use. Thank you for your film.
Hi, just to clarify , when u put your total score in on the last hole the total strokes of 5 that included your putts but they also had to be recorded separately?
Thanks for your question. Yes, all putts need to be recorded (or at least verified manually), in the Tom Tom watch you could simply hold your hand over the screen and it would record a stroke (if it had not done so automatically), and you could also easily correct if you accidentally recorded a stroke. With the Garmin, you can alway go into the "scores" screen and manually add or substract the number of strokes for each hole, but the watch will "automatically" just assume you did two putts per hole so you need to change that manually if you had more or less putts.. @@GolfTesla so for a total score including 2 puts u don’t put 4 in the initial score box and 2 putts separately u record 6 strokes for the tot score then 2 putts..
