I've tried and tested multiple different GPS yardage finders over the years and some have been a lot better than others. The S40 is a new golf watch from Garmin and it was made to fit between the S10 and the S60.

Welcome to Out Of Bounds Golf. My name is Jon and I'm just an average golfer making videos on the internet. What you'll see here are videos on different golf products and we'll be trying to figure out what works the best for the average hacker.
We'll be doing product reviews, comparisons between two similar products, the best gear for different types of players, and maybe we'll just play a round of golf.
I've been playing golf on and off for a number of years now but have become a lot more consistent over the past couple of seasons. Not long ago I was shooting somewhere around 100 and playing "out of bounds" golf way too often.
I've consistently broken 90 now and am working on breaking the 80 mark. My best round to date was 84 on a par 72 and my best 9 holes were 4 over.

I enjoy all your reviews and especially when you compare other products. I'd like to get your review of the Shot Scope v2. I currently have one, but I don't like the GPS watch, but the look (bulky) and the use of the GPS features. The shot tracking seems to be okay. I probably will get the Garmin G40 watch. My wife inherited the G60 watch, while it's comfortable, it's a bit bulky, but just too many features for me -- I don't need the phone and music integration and would have to remember to turn off the plays like function. I do like GPS watches and am looking to incorporate shot tracking. Watched your review of the Garmin CT10 and the Arccos. Not crazy about having to your phone in the front pocket or having to tag your club Arccos has that now as well Game Golf.

Appreciate the comment. I actually have a video coming out tomorrow involving the Shot Scope V2. I kind of agree with you about not liking the watch as much since it's a bit bulky. I think you mean the S40 watch? But yeah, it's quite a bit easier to use than the S60.

If you don't like the idea of having your phone in your pocket they have the Arccos Link coming out soon where you can have your phone in your bag of wherever.

Hi, thanks for the review. I just got it as a present but it doesn’t have a heart rate sensor and I’m concerned with my heart right now, so I’d like to know if I could pair it with a polar heart rate sensor chest strap. I don’t wanna open it in case it can’t be paired or sync with a heart rate sensor cause I’d have to exchange it, so if you or anybody else reading this comment could tell me if it’s possible I’d really appreciate it!!

Your comparison of the s10 and the s40 missed an important difference: the s10 has no bluetooth capability and, hence cannot link to garmin connect on your smart phone. The s10 can link to garmin connect through a usb port on your laptop. The s10 is basically a g10 with a watch band.

I am receiving this watch today and replacing my s20. What wrist bands will work on the s40? Forerunner 645 bands?

How to check distance to a Dog leg par 5. On a S40 ?

Pretty sure you press the down button and will go through all hazards bunkers etc and then when there is a dog leg that will be there to check aswel. You can do approach shots on it also so if your not confident for a full hit on green. Hope this helps

Just bought the s40 i don't like when playing golf it just has an image of the green while the s60 shows image of the entire hole with shape. Why was this not included with the s40?? Also the hazards feature is cumbersome would be better to show one image with all hazards like s60. I'm going to ask Garmin why this image isn't included in s40.

They have to have features on the S60 that aren't on the S40 to justify the higher price. But yeah, would be nice to have that.

so i got this s40 last february and it worked great but where i ran into some trouble was that it completely erased all golf courses then i reset it and it was a biatch to pair with my phone again then when i finally did it it turned out i had to download software update and had to. download the farming express to my laptop to then download to the watch again augh!! 😠 i spent 4 hrs trying to get this trash to work and i finally gave up ,,, i want a refund asap , do yourself a favor and just get a range finder for this much money 👎👎👎👎
