Great load! I use it in 30-06 with cast boolits. The 2400 powder loads are great as well. I use them for deer hunting.

I'm going to have to try some 2400 loads, sounds like it's a good choice for all kinds of reduced loads.

I am loading Harris data in 7.62x39 and 30-40, 30-06. 2400 and 4895 and 5744 unt vargetin. Garand runs real good with cast. He was a great innovator.

I use this load in my 7.62 x 54r with a lee 160 gr. cast bullet . Can hit the 8 inch steel at 100 yd easily with open sights with the m44 Mosin . Makes a great practice round . 13.5 gr. of Green Dot works just as well .

Great video showcasing "THE LOAD" it's my go to for target fun and if need be hunting inside 100yds, although it's a bit anemic by today's standards of fpe. Still does the job with cast bullets.

Thanks for the video. I am currently experimenting with The Load in 30-06. However, it works beautifully in 45-70 with a 405 grain cast bullet in my Marlin 1895. At 1345 FPS the bullet trajectory is +2 inches / -3.2” out to 125 yards which works perfectly for my peep sight. It still has plenty of gas left for hunting. It will jerk the earth out from underneath a large wild hog at 125 yards.

Right on! Nice to hear that it's 45-70 friendly.

Thanks for posting this. I think slower/quieter cartridges are a good choice for a lot of the hunting that I do. Best wishes from New Zealand.

12.9 grains of R.D. has been a very good load for 54r. I don't like the number 13 so, 12.9 grains has been my go to load. I use Hornady 174 gr. #3131 which is just under. 311" and my M-39's love it. This is also a great load for a 1928 Izzy with a good bore . When I walked up to the target I was amazed how tight the group was........

Just found your video, Yup, the biggest drawback to the K-98's were the sights. I have a Lee #4 Mk-2, (Military configured) and with the 314299 Lyman bullet over 25 grs of IMR-4227, it will shoot within less than a inch @100 yards. I cast for the .303 because it is scarce and expensive to buy these days, and Jacket bullets are 40 dollars for 50 rounds if you hand craft your ammunition with them, So, I can keep well stocked with ammunition for my Lee Enfield and save ware and tare on my brass using cast bullets. Great Video and very informative for todays reloader. Peace - Dave

does The LOAD work in gas guns like garands ?

IT WORKED IN THE G3 PTR C308....be extra cautious with this load tho. dont max this one out. could be deadly.

I load 15 grains of Red Dot into the .458 WIn Mag pushing 350gr. Campro copper plated bullets for 1300fps and 1100ft#. Works great.

I recently started using "the load". Can you load a case reduced one time and the next time full power? Or is it best to keep reduced load cases separated ? Thanks for a great video.

This is really good information, especially with a good supply of Red Dot. I have also gotten very good (1.5") groups with 15 gr, of Unique, if you can find it. 1.5" out of my No4 Mk1 Enfield (scoped) at 100 yards with the Lee 167 gr. cast at a little better than 1650fps chrono'd. Thank You!!

Great video. Am using the load in my .303. Very mild and accurate. It seems you are not doing any videos these days. A shame. The ones you've done are quite good!

Was this ever pressure tested?
@MrTudenom
@MrTudenom 2 года назад
Not that I know of, but Harris did set some limitations in order to mitigate that somewhat (strong modern actions and 30 cal or bigger bores).

this load is excellent for the cheaper copper plated bullets too. i'm a retired plumber and have hundreds of pounds of pure lead and do cast but have to add some tin, antimony. but sometimes i don't want to cast and for 25 bucks ya get a bunch of the copper plated ones. R.D. is also good for .30-.30 reduced loads 6 to 8.5 grains with some Berry's 150 f.n. bullets. don't always want to get cheek slap with a light model 94 with full power loads.........
@valentinrieuf9983

6 to 8.5 gr is not dangerously on the low side? thought you were supposed to be very careful not to go too low, same as too high

@@MegaBait1616 nice. what about 3006 and 308, still safe? I assume larger cases, less pressure, more safe?

@@MegaBait1616 I looked him up earlier and "The Load". Calls for 13 grains of RD but just wondering how low one can go below that.
