Did this awhile back when you made this and talked about those mats. But used old conveyor belt from my Mill. I also live in town. Just puts my mind at ease. Great Job on your tips.

Yep I miss the peace and quiet of having acreage as well as my steel shooting range and tree stand 3d range. But at this house in town I need a bask stop too.

Are you certain this is 4x8? It looks more like 4x6 and thats the size I'm seeing on the TS website.

This is mainly for a backstop to keep arrows from getting lost. I don't think I'd use it as a target. Would be hard to pull em after it starts to wear down.

I love and shoot my Bob Lee Ultimate all the time, but I also enjoy and shoot my Mathew’s V3X a lot. Will this target work for the faster bow, and how tough will it be to remove arrows from this backstop? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks the old guy

I don't plan to shoot this back stop. It's just there to stop my missed shots from getting away. Not sure how it would work with a compound. But it will stop anything a traditional bow can throw at it. So I bet it would stop a compound shot arrow to. But again, I would not use it as a target. There are better targets. This is an safety net basically.

Out of curiosity, isn't some penetration good, so that all the force isn't transfered backward into the arrow shaft? I would think a slightly softer mat would be better for arrow longevity, especially for some arrow types.

The whole mat moves to absorb the energy of the arrow. the mat is only screwed in at the top so when an arrow hit the whole mat rolls to prevent arrow damage.

@tradbowpodcast right on. Seems like that might mitigate some of my concerns. You could also create shocks with a spring system...joking of course.

I would go very similar to yours only using some I bolts in the bottom two corners with holes bigger then I bolt on the mat and the I bolts loose so they can move but not get caught in the high winds of South Dakota and go flying. Also, would have the bottom runner lying flat as a 4 wide by 2 on height to do better stabilization for weather and moving and I would paint the thing a tan with other white as well as a hint of Sage green and maybe a little black or dark brown if needed but rather basic but more the colors of the area to blend in during winter and in summer with the area.

That mat wont blow in any wind. Its 100 pounds and we have 60 mph winds here when storms blow thru. the mat doesnt even wiggle. so would would not have to worry about that. I like all the other tips you had also.

Hi Jason, what you talked about are still luxuries. In a lot of countries, carbon arrows are luxuries for most of hunters. The best arrows they can afford are bamboo arrows (they made themselves). If you can teach how to DIY high quality bamboo arrows and how to shoot them properly (with good grouping), it will help more people. Actually, bamboo arrows are good arrows.

I dont know how to make bamboo arrows or cane arrows. But Ryan gill has a great channel on all that primitive stuff on yourube if you look him up.

Never shot any bow thru a chronograph in my life. But I bet its only going 130-140 fps if I had to guess. But it blows thru everything I shoot

I shoot heavy arrows. Heavy arrows absorb more energy from the bow and are quieter. I shoot 57 pounds with a 720 grain arrow

It's 4x6, not 4x8 and weighs almost 100 pounds. Much better ways to mount , ask me how I know 😅. You can buy on sale for 44.99. Get a raincheck, don't order online--pick up at store to save shipping.
