In this video we take a tour around my home 3D Archery range and review the RealWild brand of 3D Archery targets from bigshottargets.com. These are nice looking, big archery targets made from good self healing foam. I've had mine for about 3 years now and they're still going strong. These are, in my opinion, the best budget 3D archery targets on the market!
Don't forget to subscribe to the channel. We're uploading a new video each week that features one of the following topics: archery, bow hunting, bow building, survival skills, bushcraft, self reliance, primitive skills, primitive bows, hunting, camping, fishing, and a lot more!
Big thanks to our partners who help support these videos!

Good tip for anyone on a tight budget . Have a look for the rubber foam floor tiles with like jigsaw 🧩 shaped edges get four and zip tie them together on all four corners they make brilliant targets am using a 40# longbow at 20 yards perfect bought these February this year and am only now swapping the front piece and adding a new one will definitely be buying more a have a zombie head and hare 3 d targets but the nearly £100 each crazy money compared to £20 for about 2xdozen floor tiles hope this helps someone 👍😉 Liam 🇬🇧

I would love for you to make a video about shooting out of a treestand, i know you said you hunt on the ground mostly. For me practicing all summer building my confidence getting in a treestand was a learning curve for sure. I think i might need a clicker, a few times i over drew my bow.

Back yard? Glue backed carpet 2'X12' (vary measurements) tied with 550 cord rolls into a nice animal size torso. Takes 1000s of arrows from my 50# recurve. Inexpensive, easy to pull and transport, hang from a limb of lay on ground, weather resistant, Re-roll starting with the used outside end to refresh 'torso' for several more 1000s of arrows. Rubber backed carpet will "black stain" arrow from friction/heat.

I put the Real Wild Big Shot targets on our practice range and they took took all the punishment 240 archers could dish out over a week and still look great. I have their bear and shoot hundreds of arrows a week without phasing it. They are inexpensive and very durable.

Not sure what these targets costed 3y ago when most of these comments were made, but they’re definitely not “budget” price now. They’re either similar or in some cases more expensive that Rinehart targets now…

Last week I bought a NASP bullseye target (32" x 32" with yellow dot in the center) from cbleaas for 40 bucks. I've only been shooting for a month. It's better than the bale of hay I was using. Really love the "thwack" sound when the arrow hits. I'm using a 20# take down recurve, and my 65 yr old shoulder hurts. When I get to where i consistently hit the center, and my shoulder is better, I'll get a 3D deer target. Taking a deer with my dad's 43# bow is on my bucket list! If you're pretty good at hitting stuff, they have a smaller, cheaper target you could try. It's worth it just for the sound it makes when you hit it!

Is there a best time of the year to harvest bow wood? Looking at a hickory tree to drop and I'm wondering if there's a time in the year best for the wood moisture content being low.

Hi Clay, I have a question unrelated to the video. I bought some meatheads this year and mounted them on some 11/32 diameter arrows and immediately noticed they were not straight. I understand that 23/64 is a smidge bigger, but I kind of assumed the 5 degree taper on my arrow would line it up relatively straight. Do you use a 23/64 diameter arrow? How can I solve my problem without completely buying new shafts?

Mark, find a local warehouse and make friends with the foreman. Ask him to save the shrink wrap that covers palletized material, they're only going to throw it away anyhow. Then, find a friend who buys dog food in the big, synthetic bags that look like they're woven. Fill that bag up good and tight with the shrink wrap, close off the top with a piece of wire, and boom. You got a target that will last for ages. When you've shot the bag out, get another and stuff the same shrink wrap back in. I haven't bought a target in years, and I shit you not, they work. I shoot a #56 recurve and have zero trouble pulling the arrows out.

@@savage22bolt32 Thanks. I can't take credit for the idea. I saw a young man here on YT a few years ago do something similar. He built a wooden frame to pack the shrink wrap in. My idea just makes the target far more portable. You can bring it inside when you've finished shooting so it doesn't get weather damaged. You also don't have to worry about pulling arrows out of a 2x4 if one gets away from you.
@savage22bolt32
@savage22bolt32 3 года назад
Jon, thanks for sharing. Over the past decade, before I retired, I've seen so much shrink wrap get chucked in the dumpster. Now I have a use for it! Perhaps I can adapt this and make an indoor slingshot trap.
