most of my mth engines are protosound(10), proto 1(20) a few proto 2 engines (4), some (10) lionel prewar conventional & (8) k-line engines. Tranformers- have 1 mth z4000 with 1 tiu & dcs remote, 1 old zw, 1 new (from 2008) lionel zw, 1 lionel legacy command system. Am I correct that I cant run conventional pre war engines without this double throw toggle switch because, at 18 volts they fly off the track? Finding it very hard to make the lionel & mth transformers to work together. very few videos go into detail. My track plan( atlas track) has a main circle, 2nd circle, 4 sidings to park passenger cars, 18 parking tracks for my steam engines. Have power feeds every 5 feet. Seems like a double throw toggle is the only way to run so many different era engines run the layout? I'll try to do some videos so you & others can critique my setup, but I'm very overwhelmed. Using a separate transformer & separate track to run prewar conventional & proto 1 mth engines defeats the purpose of having so many parking tracks ( my parking tracks were so I did not need to lift the often very heavy engines every time I run a diff engine.) Suggestions please. at this point, only the mth z4000 & its tiu & remote are connected.
