Yea exactly. Wranglerstar tends to be way too critical and forget that not all people owns a farm and do a plunge in a 40 cm diameter log. @alejandrocuellar15

Keep in mind power tools tend to vibrate a lot. I don't think an elder woman would have the same strength to hold the tool tight. Those vibrations start to hurt even my young hands after a few hours, If you wanted to cut things you could use big pruners as well, and a fraction of the cost. But yeah I think it just depends on the person,
@carvalhow_
@carvalhow_ 4 года назад
@@alejandrocuellar15 That's what I was going to say. An elderly person with limited strength would not even have the dexterity to not hurt themselves, they might even try to cut something downside up and split their face with that little saw... An old manual saw like that japanese would be much easier to control with limited strength and it would be unlikely to cause any harm. I get that Solus Shop only wanted to see the bright side, but I'd say there isn't one

@CaptainDCap

Except the cut angles are nothing like that of a jigsaw, as shown in the video. You can almost 'draw' with a jigsaw, freehand. This thing's blade is too wide to even get a 30% angle into the wood. Oh...and Jigsaws cut faster than this thing. It's junk.

Just to clear it for you: Green Bosch is for amateurs. Blue Bosch is for professionals. Mosts Bosch-stuff is made in Hungary exept some Blue Pro Tools. What is the Nano Blade for? Check the website. But to make is short. Elderly people or peope that are too weak for a handsaw. Thats is! Definitely no precision tool. They show you how to cut down your christmas tree with it on the website. Or to crush carton boxes for recycling. And you know what, it does the job very well for these things. Not more and not less!

Crush carton boxes? With a 200 dollar power tool? Someone too weak to crush carton boxes by hand or with scissors shouldn't be using a power tool for their own safety. Also, is it cutting the tree down or is it pruning it to shape? If it's pruning, I'm pretty sure it would be easier to do with a small handsaw no matter how strong you are. Again, if you can't cut small branches without a power tool, don't use a power tool. It's dangerous.

There are tools better suited for that purpose for far less money. Ryobi has a mini hedge and grass grimmer that is similar for $45 that can be used with their regular 18v batteries if you already have those kind of tools. But it isn't a $200 tool. It's a €79 tool, and the local DIY is running a €20 mail in rebate on top of that. So it's somewhere between a $69 and a $95 tool. It also isn't marketed as a chainsaw. It's marketed as a jigsaw that makes straight cuts like a circularsaw. But it's easier to make plunge cuts with, it doesn't buck like a jigsaw can, and there's no risk of kickback like on a circular saw. Only the battery powered version is marketed as being an alternative to pruning snips, not the bolt cutter like ones, the small hand sized ones. Both the bigger units are 500W corded tools. And the bigger units are €99 and €128 respectively, depending on features and accessories. Nothing about these tools is as expensive as Cody claims, nor is it marketed to do the things he assumes it's supposed to do. It's not a finishing saw, neither is a jigsaw or a circular saw. Bosch Green also sells electric chainsaws, they start at €69 for a 30cm 1500W unit, and go up from there. So if you wanted a chainsaw, you wouldn't be buying a NanoBlade to begin with. You'd buy a chainsaw for a tenner less.

European here: To the people defending this tool/Bosch: Bosch professional does a real good job putting tools together. Green Bosch in the other hand, it’s really focussed on DYI, they make real flimsy tools, who have to look good for the ignorant home owner who wants to hang paintings and such. They have their marketing do the work. I dont see any function this tool excels in. Plunge cut? Drill a hole and finish it off with a jigsaw. Cutting 2x4? Use a jigsaw when you’re lacking a circular saw. Just use a handsaw for cutting branches. I mean, they do a much quicker and neater job. This tool is just a gimmick no one needs, and I think it’s way overpriced.

What, fundamentally, makes it a bad tool? A chainsaw is a great tool. It has three real advantages: 1.) It plugs straight into regular electrical cords or runs off regular fuel. Convenient. 2.) It lets you make use of all the power output of the heaviest motor you could wield all focused into one sawing edge. Fast. 3.) The sawing sticks out of the body in a big narrow loop so you can plunge straight in with the tip or go upwards or downwards or any which way. It frees you from having to carry many other tools. A chainsaw also has inherent built-in disadvantages. The big teeth, high power, and exposed blade together make them dangerous. A focus on fast cutting means that that sacrifices are made in terms of accuracy and neatness. The teeny weeny chainsaw trades away the benefits of a large motor and - while it can hardly be said to be dangerous - doesn't fix the shortcomings of using a rough saw. It's trying to compete in an area where it's not hard to carry half a dozen small hand tools that can *together* offer the flexibility, speed, accuracy, or neatness a user wants. When you look at the competition, you just don't need it. If the motor was about twice or three times as powerful it might be able to take over as a rough cutter that could also plunge (taking ground from a sawzall or jigsaw).

He wants to use the chainsaw, as a father you'd love to see your 6 y/o wielding a 32 inch 60.3cc Husqvarna 572 XP 2 stroke but the safety side of you kicks in and you snap back to reality to look down with to see you sons hands reaching towards the chainsaw with nearly tears in his eyes. What do you do? You hand him you Bosch EasyCut12 with belt holster (as it should come with one) Now you and your child can spend the winter afternoon bonding, while getting the tree trimming done, The tree trimming you told your wife you'd do 4 months ago.

I just found out this comes in an "advanced" version too. About twice the price and even more overenginerded. Also the blades for these seem to be exclusively on backorder, and they cost up to a third of the tool. Impressive.

Here is an idea...Pat, you should go buy one of these and test it to see if it does everything that the manufacturer says it will do and post a video of your results. It's easy to post a critical review of a critical review from your keyboard. Try it from your woodshop next time.

Then you should. How tough would that be? Test the damn thing. In the mean time...quiturbichin until you do. Once you have established that BOSCH made a $200 pruning tool, you can let us all know your honest opinions of the product. Or, you can get BOSCH to sponsor you! Then you can say whatever you want about the product.

like you can see in the comment section already.. every tool can only be as good as the user. if you rip through that wood with any jigsaw like that, it doesn't matter where the tool was made, because you operate it like a kid that demonstrates to his parents, why his old toys are meh so it gets new ones. what's next? a video inwhich you complain about a fork not catching soup? or maybe a butter knife that's really not suited for opening cans? this channel has some parody potential i wouldn't had dreamed of.

not so great in wood but for installing electrical boxes in remodels mine has become indispensable. cuts the sheetrock far cleaner than any of the hundreds of punch saws i have used,

Cory ramsey I agree I have one also an use it for similar things I cross. Theirs some lite jobs it’s good with. I mean sure theirs other more powerful tools that can do the job for the same things. But for little simple things it works pretty well. I never bought mine for home building or anything like that from ground up. Or the heavy work they marketed it for. Or what this guy is knocking it for. My purchase I’m sure with the same with you. Was a thought in mind of fairly light duty cuts that may of worked better or may of been quicker than your existing tools.

Precision handyman stuff...finally some good conversation. I'm glad it works for you, but all of the times that I have had to do precision work in a finished home, sheetrock dust WAS the enemy. This is a mini chainsaw that spits debris in all directions. Again I will state that a cheap jigsaw with a downward cutting blade is a far better, cleaner, and economical way to cut any finish hole that this thing can cut.
@coryramsey6234

a lot of times i grab my dremel multimax but when it comes down to it this thing is just easier to use and yes a jigsaw does generally work very well i just find this simpler and quicker about 70% of the time

German here. Bosch started out great and big. They were the powergiant of powertools and even now, when we say "bosch" we think of the good, high power tools. I personally grew up using their power drills. They're garbage. There's a million other companies I'd prefer now. Their new powerdrills are way too heavy, way too expensive and frankly... they're not better than the more cost efficient competitors.

If I remember correctly, the concept was developed by ZIBA Design Inc. Portland, OR, in 1994 for Oregon Cutting Systems and marketed as WoodZig pruning tool. It was then shown at a design talents trade show in Stuttgart, Germany around 1995 - basically on BOSCH's doorstep. A while later, BOSCH came out with more or less the same concept and there was a rumor, that they had bought the concept (that's probably why they can't sell the Bosch variant in the US). The original had a sturdy blade and appeared to do its job (cutting twigs) quite well, considering that it was supposed to be mounted on 12ft pole...
