Today I'll be testing viral Asian makeup from Yes Style to see if it's actually worth the hype. Overall I had really great luck with everything but one product gave me trouble. I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

Hi, my name is Jen I am 44 and live in Connecticut with my husband and 8 year old son. I am a stay-at-home Mom and full-time RU-vidr with a degree in business with a focus in marketing. Before leaving work when my son was born, I was a commercial lender at a bank. I also worked at Sephora and Macy's doing visual merchandising.
I have dry skin with some hyperpigmentation and fine lines. I love natural makeup looks but occasionally go outside my comfort zone a little bit. On my channel you'll find lots of videos about drugstore makeup and drugstore dupes (those are my favorites to film!) but I also review high-end makeup as well. At the end of the video I mentioned that I accidentally used too much of the foundation (the puff picks up way more than other cushions I've tried) and I'll keep playing with it and use less to see if that helps it to look better. I also plan to try it over primers and use different application methods. 🥰 I've used many, many cushion foundations and normally the way I applied it works fine...this one just took me by surprise by how pigmented it is!

Jen if you take the cushion and tap it off on the back of your hand before you apply it to your face that will make the application more even and also it takes some off so it's not such a heavy application

Your oriental blouse is beautiful, looks like silk. This is a good video. Are the " kids" making this compact foundation viral on Tic-toc 🤔😉⁉️. Maybe young girls have flawless skin, but in reality we all have pores. You did a great job breaking down this product, Ty. On " Laura Rae Beauty" RU-vid, she had a spongy type of blush four days ago. It was Korean too. You might like her honest down to earth " mature skin" perspective on make-up. She is a school teacher, a religious lady, honest, and sadly just lost her mother. She is a refreshing watch if you have any extra time, lol!! ** The mascara wand is exactly the same metal straight tip used by my grand- mother and mother years ago,😅. Same wheel coming back around🤔🤗💝. Keep up the good work😇🙏.

robert welsh just posted a video yesterday about “makeup on mature skin “ and he showed how to properly apply cushion foundation for the best application, you were using you’re finger tips rather than the long parts of your fingers, i suggest scrubbing through the video and find where he shows how to apply it best, might give you a better application!

I feel like so many Americans do not yet have enough experience w/ cushion foundations, I keep seeing same mistake over & over, going in too heavy on initial application. Robert Welsh recently did a vid explaining how to properly apply cushion form...u wona gently dab ur puff in & basically not see any product on ur puff. Cuz it's there! We all know it's so much easier to add more vs take away product. Sorry, but I also learned the hard way & I don't want the Asian community laughing at how silly we are. Lol! 😚

I had my first child at 20. As a single mom for many years, I couldn't afford much makeup. Now, I'm 50. My kids are grown. I'm single again. If I want to spend my money on makeup, I surely will. It's a non-guilty pleasure.

I had mine at 19 and have been single. He’s now 18. For years I only wore a Covergirl stick concealer and some blush. Then a little while back I started getting back into it. I still don’t buy everything I want but it’s nice to be able to spoil myself sometimes!

Robert Welsh mentioned in his video that there is a specific way to apply the cushion foundation. He briefly shows it and then he mentions that he has a video on how to apply them coming out.

Most cushion foundations are more sheer/light so you can typically use them the way I did here and be fine, but I wasn't expecting the level of coverage that this one gives. You definitely need to only use a tiny bit. :)

I saw a korean youtuber who used the tirtir foundation, and she said the error in most of the tirtir application is that people use too much. she even used the back of the black lid cover to take away the extra foundation. I ordered mine early this morning, so hopefully it works for me, lol, we shall see.

When you use a little of the Tirtir you don’t need anything else. No primer, no powder, no setting spray.

I’m 70 and wear a full face of makeup, I feel weird without it unless I’m sick I then I won’t. Guess I got it from my mom who’s I heaven, I don’t remember any day where she wasn’t wearing her makeup and her hair was always done, boy she loved her red lipstick, I don’t look good in red lipstick but my sister does.❤❤

Keep trying with the Tir Tir, you need only about a quarter of what you put on. Less product, more patting. Btw, I picked up the Catrice face palette you used the other day (like a smaller version of the Makeup Forever one) and I love it! Will be perfect for traveling! I always layer cream under glow powder for those 18 hrs days.

I'm 65 and I love the Tir Tir. It held up really good, and no creasing. Of course I used primer and powder just like regular foundation. I did use a small amount and the coverage is good.

Have you ever tried the Benefit Porefessional primer? I found if I used that, gave about 5 minutes to set, and then used a light , light dusting of translucent powder , then applied my foundation with a sponge applicatore, it seemed to help stop my foundation from sitting in my pores. Alternatively, you could try a cream to powder foundation, that may help as well. ❤ Also, using AHA'S, glycolic and lactic acid treatments really helped to minimize my pores. I hope this helps. ❤

I saw Tatis video on the tirtir foundation and ordered on Amazon before I saw any other reviews. Then I read the reviews on Amazon and immediately cancelled and glad I did! I have drier skin and plus the shades confused me so thank you for your review! I love all your k- beauty reviews!

Great video! 😊 I love the Tir Tir foundation. Like many already have stated, I find that it's important to note that very little goes a long way. In addition to that, I also find that hydration and exfoliation is key for me to make this foundation work well. I have sensitive, dry skin, and use a very gentle PHA toner. When I exfoliate regularly, and use a hydrating serum before I do my make up, this is the most beautiful foundation ever to me. Absolutely gorgeous. It has great coverage, gives a nice glow, no enlarged pores, it sits well on top of serums and spf, doesn't pill at all, and it lasts a long time. The finish is flawless.

Agree 100%. I have very dry skin and am 58. I use super moisturizing skin prep, which my skin loves, and this foundation is gorgeous and lasts all day. I use very little and love the value. 😬😎

I was debating getting the cushion foundation but I think I will pass. I do want to try the different blush formulas. They all look so beautiful. I really LOVE my blushes. Hi Jen! I’m 57 and have dry skin as well, and I have had polka dot foundation before. It’s never a good look. 😣 And since I’m a grandmother of 3 adorable kids, I guess I’ll just own my “old lady” status and continue wearing eye shadow, because I love it too! I’ve worn makeup since I was in junior high, but 2020 is when I really started focusing on skincare and looking for products to really nourish my skin since I’d never dealt with dry skin in my younger years. Although I have been a remote worker for a number of years, video calls also really took off that year, so no makeup wasn’t an option for me. It was quite the journey, but I so enjoyed it and began experimenting with makeup like never before too. And now, my collection has grown by a LOT, but I do have so much fun getting ready for my day. That is my me time. So thank you for your videos over these last several years. I’ve learned a lot and laughed a lot, and you are just a joy to watch. Truly makes my day when I see your videos pop up! ❤

I bought the TIRTIR cushion foundation and I have been enjoying it, especially for long work days. I have really oily skin, so oily that my makeup often breaks up by the end of the day even when I set it with powder or setting spray, but the cushion foundation actually stays. It doesn’t budge and it covers acne breakouts in one pass. I often have to do touchups throughout the day with other foundations, but with the TIRTIR, I didn’t have to do any touchups and didn’t have my oils break through until 6 hours later. I will say, the colors are tricky to match and a little goes A LONG way. Amazon had a set of mini packet samples for $1.50 and I’m so glad I purchased that first. I was thinking I would be 21W and it was way more yellow than I was expecting (like how it was for you). I ended up being 21N Ivory. The sample set doesn’t include all of the new colors, but for anyone wanting to try it out and can’t figure out a good color match based on the swatches online, I would recommend the samples first!

Tirtir does have other cushion options with less coverage and more natural finish. The red one was the one that got viral but sincerely it´s not for every skin type, and most people trying them are way younger. Usually we have to press gently the puff into the cushion, but after we press in the inside plastic part to take the excess. But the red one is a high coverage and thats not for everyone. They also have new shades that are way less yellow then 21N... with Tirtir they tend to oxidise, but they have a sample option with 9 shades, and a smaller cushion that it´s cheaper and allow to test without spending too much.

Tati advised you have to wear a blurring powder over it. Once you do, pores won't show.

Hi Jen! So glad to see you delving more into K beauty! I have many of the items you tried in the video today. Like you, when I first tried the Tir Tir cushion, I found it cakey and heavy (I have dry skin, I'm in my 40s too). I almost returned it to Amazon. I encourage you to give it another try - it's truly indelible. To make it work, I tap the puff very lightly on the cushion, then pat off the extra on the black lid (a lot!) until it's super thin and barely visible on the puff and apply a very very thin layer. Work in sections too as it seems to set fast. I also have to prep my skin well and when I do that, it looks so much better. I am waiting for the Missha BB to come in the mail (bought it on your recommendation) and I've tried the Judy Doll eyeliner (unfortunately not waterproof). Keep these K-beauty videos coming. :)

I’m 60 with desert dry skin and got the Tirtir cushion to work beautifully by using the same method described above. A little really does go a long way! With the proper skin prep, I can get this to actually be glowy on my complexion.

I’ve been using TirTir foundation for about a month and really love it. Good coverage, but doesn’t feel or look heavy. Does last a long time. I know, because I fell asleep one night on the sofa and it still looked great when I woke up the next morning. I’m 77, normal/dry skin, fine lines, larger pores on nose and chin, use a moisturizing primer.

I have super dry skin and the TirTir foundation settled into all my fine lines and aged me terribly, no matter how thinly I applied it. Too bad though, the finish is so beautiful (IF you can get a good color match.)

With drier skin it is better to use the glowy-moisturizing ones, like Clio Mesh Glow Cushion or Laneige Glow Cushion. This one is matte/semi-matte, so you would have to prep your skin very well, moisturizing it beforehand.

Another thing, and very important, is to avoid dragging the product with the cushion while you apply it to your face. It is advisable to tap, removing the excess product beforehand by using the plastic cover that avoids the product from drying. (Just a few taps over the plastic cover, and its ready).

I am over 50 and I love TirTir Cushion Foundation. Doesn't emphasize any imperfections which I believe I have got more than you..My skin is also dry. The way the TirTir cover is so graceful for me even after hours of wear, Complexion can be so different on who wears what I think

Absolutely! It could also depend on how dry your skin is, mine is like the Sahara even if I moisturize well. Sometimes longwearing foundations are a little bit drier and even if I had no imperfections, they would still look cakey/dry on me.

I am 54 and just bought that foundation a week ago. I r been using it every day and love it on my desert dry skin. But I apply with my own sponge and tap in very lightly. If I pick up too much I tap it on the back of my hand first.

So disappointed in the Tir Tir foundation. Not a good range of colors. One was too dark & other too light. The 2 colors in between no longer making I guess bcuz I can’t order it anywhere. It’s Not available except on Amazon & a few other websites. Tired of people (influencers) cashing in on a product that we all waste money on! I ran to get the TIRTIR after an influence with a Boston accent raved about it. Even mentioning her DRY skin. Even with the 3.9 ratings on Amazon I hit the buy button. I guess because I have not only dry skin but mature dry skin it didn’t work for me. I’ve been side eyeing 👀 every influencer that claims to have mature, dry skin, rave about it. I have 12 4.5+ rating cushions on there way. I believe it’s a good concept but the TIRTIR is not the one. 👎🏻 I’ve been using judydoll mascara for a year or so. I have straight lashes. If you have trouble keeping a curl the Wayne goss mascara is my holy grail. You may have to do the powder double curl method but you’re good ALL day. I am loving your content ❤🙌🏼

I used to use a mascara by Helena Rubinstein (first makeup product in my teens!) in the late ‘70’s and it had a metal wand. The only other mascara I’ve seen these days that has a metal wand is by Surratt.

Hi Jen, thanks for the video. I'm pretty sure that the reason you got a cooling sensation from the Hur blush is that it has alcohol in it; it's the 6th ingredient. Also, I have to agree that the foundation you tried wasn't good on you. Definitely the wrong color, and maybe it's a formula that just doesn't work well on dry skin. Maybe you can get a better color and get it to work. Personally, I don't have a lot of patience to fool with foundation. If I try it maybe 3 times, and I can't get it to look right over the products I normally use, it gets returned, if possible. I'm willing to try a couple of different application methods - brush, sponge, fingers - but life is too short for me to keep fooling with a product that won't work for me.

I really had problems to remive the judydoll mascara even using oil cleanser. I now ordered a mascara remover from japan too, as they seem to be nessessary for these kinds of mascara.

Hi Jen, this is why I love your channel. I have never heard of Judydoll, Yesstyle or Dasique and I love the Judydoll products. Thank you so much for a great video and the foundation I think I would like it but I know now not to go to heavy with it. The eyeliner was great and I liked the applicator. My parents are German but I have a lot of yellow in my skin so the tirtir 23 is perfect. I apply it with a teardrop makeup sponge to get a super light coverage. Just enough to even out my skin tone and I love it. I also really love Mirenesse cushion compact in Vienna and mocha for summer. But is over $55 now. 😳. I got the full size tirtir over mother day weekend for $18 on sale on Amazon. I don’t think my tirtir smells much at all. But maybe I’m not sensitive to smells. 🤷‍♀️

All of the reviews I've seen on that TirTir Cushion foundation were sponsored (including Tati) so the brand was sending it out to a lot of people. I'm guessing that's why it ended up going viral but I had the same experience you did. 😔😔

I will need to try the Missha BB cream you showed because I love Missha. The Mascare is something I used as a teen and it was my favorite from Max Factor. It was the best, that mascare is not something new, they just brought it back. Thanks Jen for a great video. Tik tok, who? Eh.

Oh, how I wished you were wrong about the TirTir cushion foundation!! 😩 Halas, you were right!!! It's very very drying and highlights every dry spot on my face. To top it off, after trying it for 3 days with lots of different hydrating skincare, my face couldn't take it anymore! It was so dry, the skin was peeling off like it would with a sunburn and it looked both horrible and concerning 😟. Sadly, I had to return it. To those of you with dry, sensitive skin, this one may not be for you at all! Thanks for your honesty Jen!❤

it's funny because when I was in high school in the early 2000s, lipstick and blush were considered to be for older women too, and then they blew up again in the mid 2010s. now that I'm in my 30s I see how silly following trends are--just do what makes you happy

Totally agree with your opinion on the TirTir foundation. I bought it on Tati’s rave review. The first time I tried it I hated it. It was way too heavy and settled into Every Single Fine Line. I tried it again with a primer and a brush (the applicator is awful!) and I liked it better. I still used a dampened sponge to completely blend. It’s ok. And does require a lot of work to get it to look decent

I just got the Tir Tir cushion foundation and I love it. I heard it’s not dry skin friendly though. I have normal skin but were the same age. I had to set mine with a powder and then I used a setting spray and it looked better the longer I wore it❤

I really wanted to try that mascara but it has parfum in it. I've used mascara with fragrance in the past and it made my eyes itch. That twinkly eyeshadow looks so pretty! Emma x

I was pleasantly surprised by the few Judy doll products I tried. The Judy doll multi blusher cream blushes are really good. The packaging looks like a dupe for the rare beauty cream blushes.

I love your content! I was so happy when I saw this! I have the same skin struggles you mentioned ; dry, textured cheeks, pores and mature skin. I found with this cushion, definitely less is more. Korean ladies like to pat off on the back of our hands or the back of the lid first. What ever you think is a light dip, go lighter! Don’t saturate the puff. Trust! it will get your whole face. Layer/build in light layers. Skin prep is everything! works beautifully! Beauty of Joseon sun serum is beautiful 🤩 paired with this : chefs kiss!

Hi Jen. I think your face looks flawless on camera. I do appreciate the look of that ampoule blush you used. I think I'd like to try that. I am 55 now and while still liking a bit of color here and there, I find myself leaning towards the simple neutral looks that you and Samantha March showcase. Love your videos. My first cushion foundation was Missha, and I loved it! There's definitely a learning curve with how much to apply and how to hold the actual cushion. Robert Welsh has talked about these a few times and will have a video coming soon that will explain in more detail. I would encourage anyone that's interested in cushion foundations to check it out! I have oily skin and hyperpigmentation just tried the tirtir cushion. I was blown away. Based on the finish I can see how dry skin types will not enjoy it but on my skin I'm ready to buy a back up!!

First of all I really enjoying watching your videos. I agree with you on the foundation as even in the studio lighting you can see how it settles into your forehead lines. I don’t think I’ve ever noticed them before with any other foundations you’ve tried. But you look lovely regardless 😊

Eyeshadow is fine if you like it. I think that both young and older people like to wear it and that's ok. I'm more into makeup now than ever. I've learned so much about it on RU-vid. I loved this video because I had never heard of these brands before. So fun to watch and I love the eye look. Yours is my favorite beauty channel!

Hi Jen. I'm 70, and I just wanted to say that back in the late 1960s early 70s, mascara with a metal wand and no bristles was quite common. If my memory serves me correctly, I belive that Max Factor had one and perhaps Estee Lauder and I think there were a few others. Everything old is new again.

Products are so different for everyone. I’m 43 and have normal skin, maybe a little dry in the winter and I’m loving the Tir Tir foundation!! I don’t cake it on and use a pore filling primer and it lasts all day on me…I apply a light layer of powder on top and I’m set for the whole day😊 I actually purchased it before it even went viral😂I loved the eyeshadow palette, blushes and lip products, definitely trying those out!! You’re look turned out so pretty❤

Hi Jen, i recommended you the jungsaemmool cushion foundation a while back. I also have this tirtir cushion. It has a heavier feel and feels more emollient with higher coverage than JSM. I think you might need to try using less of the product (you just need very little) and pat it onto the skin instead of swiping. That's how Koreans apply their cushion foundation, bouncing and patting the puff on their skin. 😊

Yes at the end of the video I mentioned that this sponge picks up way too much product and I'll try using less next time. Also I did pat it into my skin at first (which is how I normally apply cushion foundations) I only started swiping it because I was getting frustrated that it wasn't blending in and that's why I ended up just using a brush. Normally patting is enough to get it blended but not with this one. 😂❤️

Missha BB real signature complete is my overall favorite. I don’t see it in stock anymore. I wear 21 too. Agree that’s it’s less gray than the regular BB line. Beats high end and drugstore. Make my skin look natural and flawless all at the same time. Thank you for your awesome reviews!

My foundation always does that exact same thing. I've gotten to a point with my skincare that I rarely ever wear foundation anymore because of it. I will wear some skin tints and tinted sunscreen just to even out my skin tone. I just can't with that pore emphasizing look. ❤

I didn’t like the TirTir foundation either and I have combo (more on the drier side) skin. It showed every pore on my face and caked up so bad. I tried many methods to try and make it work but nope lol Love love love ur video as always Jen. Thanks for all u do! ❤

I have the TirTir cushion and even the smallest amount emphasizes my pores and texture. I don’t wear primer since i usually use SPF as a primer so maybe it would help but idk… I have the mini size and would recommend if anyone is interested to try the mini version first before getting the full size

You say you put down to much, I disagree. You used the pad with only a single dipping in the product and made that spread over the entire face. You didn’t repeatedly go back for more product. This product is listed as a full coverage foundation. So it would completely defeat the purpose by using a lot less. You didn’t even get completely full coverage either. So it’s clearly designed to be built if needed and I’ve seen many people use more than you did with it. I do however think that the skin prep will make a difference. I find that when using my.1% tretinoin daily many foundations (including my foundation I swear by and use daily!) can often look a little like this on the skin, especially when I don’t use the right products underneath. I’ve got dry skin these days due to the high strength tret and I find even the most natural products can look a bit funky if I don’t exfoliate and prep the skin right. It could simply be that. It could also just be unsuitable for your skin. Sad as it is I find most full coverage products just don’t sit well on me anymore 😞 many things just don’t work for everyone 🤷‍♀️ Overall this look was stunning on you! I love the cool tones on you. I’ve been leaning more toward cool tones for a while now and I get so many more compliments on my looks since. X

I've recently bought into the hype and got my own Tirtir cushion. As an Asian woman with extensive experience using Korean skincare and makeup, I've tried many Korean cushions from brands like Jung Saem Mool, Clio, Romand, Etude House, Moonshot, etc. The Tirtir cushion, however, doesn't work for everyone (it didn't work for me). I apply it very thinly, knowing that Korean cushion foundations are typically high coverage and a little goes a long way. But after just 1-2 hours, the Tirtir oxidizes and turns cakey on me. It also seems to just sit on top of the skin. I will never buy another hyped product, especially when it's clear that the marketing was heavily budgeted, as was the case with Tirtir. I don't understand how it could be #1 on Amazon and in Japan. It's terrible. Many other Korean brands work much better and, for the same price, come with an extra refill.

I was going to try the Tirtir cushion foundation but Tirtir collaborated with the overfiltered and vulgar Mikayla Nougiera so I am boycotting the brand. That eyeshadow looks fantastic!!
