Many don't know how long it takes for testosterone replacement therapy to unfold its efficacy. In fact, it takes much longer than most think. For sexual parameters such as sexual desire, a minimum of 3 weeks is needed. For bone mass it takes over 3 years until it reaches its maximum. Dr. med. Dr. phil. Stefan Buntrock, urologist from Göttingen, explains in this video on UroChannel how and when effects from TRT may be expected. These are data for hypogonadal men.

Hi Mr. Brut! Thank you! I prefer testosterone gel because injections knock out the body's own production completely and gel is easier to handle.

What you are asking for is an individual medical consultation. A RU-vid video isn’t the right way to do that.

Hi, there is no difference. It takes time for testosterone to be effective.

Does testosterone supplementation cause the prostate to enlarge. Already dealing with that too and taking testosterone cream

At the end of the day, it is not entirely clear, what causes benign prostatic enlargement. However, testosterone is needed for prostatic function and integrity. Low levels of testosterone will cause the organ to shrink. In these cases, testosterone supplementation is likely to make the prostate grow back to its original size.

With hypogonadism, the body's ability to produce testosterone is already decreased. In the majority of cases permanently decreased. This is why testosterone replacement therapy is initiated in the first place. The testicles may become smaller long-term. This is why I prefer gels over injections because I always try to give the body a chance to still produce some on its own.

Can you call it a disease when it is normal progression of aging? I don't want to experience the affects of aging but I don't consider aging a disease.

Hi Larry, I agree. Aging is not a disease, but it is the heavily involved in a huge number of diseases, including cardiovascular disease, benign prostatic enlargement (to name a urological one) and cancer. Not to mention the wear and tear on the muscolosceletal system. Greetings from Germany! Stefan Buntrock
