they do that to set up to just drop blocks down the middle and get combos

3 years late, but from what I understand you either stack the blocks so that you have only a central lane where to drop lines and get a Tetris (which nets you more points) or two adjacent lanes because every piece can be rotated to be two squares wide, and so you can constantly drop pieces and get combos like crazy

Origin of "boring, bye": A RU-vidr by the name of Oli Brotherhood, who goes by "MumboJumbo" or "Mumbo" on youtube, plays Minecraft. After streaming every Monday night for a while, he stopped streaming. Until recently. On his first stream this year, he talked about how he used to stream, and part of the reason was he thought he wasn't good and got discouraged by the live chat. One such message was, "Boring, bye." The stream he was currently making then exploded with the phrase, and it has continued to take over his channels, and apparently others, since. Edit: I saw the dog.
