Now that IS amazing!! I never thought of making queso dip from scratch. Every time I grocery shop, I think, "Hmm...should I get a can of Rotel and Velveeta and call it a day?" This looks so quick and easy and a break from the norm with those processed cheeses! A pinch of cumin and cayenne!? Yassss!! Love, love, love this! Thank you!! Love you guys!! 😘
i hVE SCottish blood and thats not plaid its plaed..but dont hate on the nerves of these two firekrackers. they smoke well and its imropotant to set sem aleight xxx
This is, by far, the best Queso recipe I've tried. It tastes just like home. Made it about 2 weeks ago, and adding the ingredients to my shopping list again to make it a second time. Thank you How to Feed A Loon!!!
This was the first recipe of yours I tried. My husband loved it!!! Thank you for the recipe, it’s going into my “It’s a Keeper” recipe book! It was really fantastic!
I ADORE your show! I'm making this tonight for "Taco Tuesday"! Your recipes are spot on. You've inspired me to start a cooking channel. Thank you so much for the love and laughter. Keep the recipes coming! ❤
My family always does a taco night the day after Christmas and my job is to make fresh guacamole and a cheese dip. I usually do the Velveeta and Rotel, but this recipe looks easy and delicious that I think I'm going to try it. Since there will be 25 of us, I think I'll make two (one with cilantro and one without - yes, a few family members don't like the cilantro). And I will have a couple of types of chips, including my favorite Fritos Corn Chips! Thanks for sharing, guys! I'm excited about making it - of course, I will make a small test recipe first and enjoy the dip all by myself.
You have no idea how much your comment filled our hearts with joy! Thank you so so much! Please stay in touch and please stay tuned....so much more fun and food on the way!! Sending lots of love to you in beautiful Ohio from us in Texas!!!
I've been looking around for a recipe for tex-mex queso like you get at restaurants. Your recipe looks the best from what I've seen! Has the right color and consistency and the way you described it sounds exactly like what I'm looking for. Can't wait to try it for myself!
I made this tonight, and it came out perfect!!! Follow the recipe exactly, and do exactly what you guys did during cooking and prep; you can't go wrong! It's very rare that I find a recipe that I don't have to tinker with to make it work! Didn't cost that much to do either. Restaurants must make a huge profit on this dish! This makes a pretty big batch, so be sure the pan is big enough. I will definitely be making this again! Thanks!!!!!!
Angela! You just made our day! We are THRILLED you made our queso recipe and had such great success with it! Woo hoo!! Thank you so so much for sharing and the kind words! That honestly means the world to us! Please stay in touch!!!! xo Kris & Wesley
@@HowToFeedaLoon thank you for posting! Your recipe was easy to follow and I found it particularly helpful the way you show what each stage of the cooking looks like when you have to add or do the next thing. For some things, timing is very touchy. I was so happy it didn't turn into a bowl of stringy, gritty yuck! I'm probably going to gain ten pounds now that I know how to do this 😋!
This is a great recipe. I've made it 10 times or so, and my family tells me it's their favorite, it's my favorite too. It does take some time to dice everything up, but it's totally worth it if you care about delivering a great dish. The ingredients and process are presented in a very straight-forward way, and it was easy to duplicate. I don't use pickled serrano (don't know where to find it), but I do dice up a few serrano peppers along with the jalapeno, and that works out great. Warning, use gloves when handling the jalapeno and serrano. I didn't use gloves the first time, and removed the ribs and seeds with my fingers, and even though I washed my hands several times, the pepper oil stays on your fingers (and under your nails) for a few days, and it creates a huge problem for your eyes when you wash your face.
Thank you loons both so much for sharing this with the world You guys have helped me tremendously. I cannot thank you enough Such an easy recipe and I am overly excited to try it. Much love ❤❤
I'm definitely going to try this causes it does look delicious and face it it's cheese dip so it's got to be good. But it's going to have to out do mine for me to change from my regular recipe. I use velveta, pepper jack,,salsa, hamburger and sausage. They always eat all of it up when I make some. I like corn chips to dip with. If I'm feeling like it I heat a can of refried beans with white American cheese until smooth. Let it cool down a little and then wrap it in small flour tortillas like a tiny burrito. I really like to brown them slightly in the frying pan with a little oil and use them to dip with. Try it you'll love it too. Thanks for the recipe I'll try it sometime. Love y'all 💜👍😎
I tried this. I didn't have Serrano peppers or white american cheese. So I used Queso cheese instead. But that Cilantro set this off. It was pretty good.
My mom half a block of Velveeta cheese ,can of rotel ,fried sausage / hamburger meat , can of mushroom soup , half stick of butter all in the crock pot , it was pretty darn good stuff , you can add peppers , onions what ever else you like
Marcus!! You already made us love you!! Please stay in touch and stay tuned....so much more fun and food on the way! England is one of the most amazing places (with the most amazing people) in the world! 🏴♥️
This looks amazing. Im a newbie on y'all channel. We had breakfast for dinner tonight. I found your recipe for buttermilk biscuits. They turned out amazing. I will definently try your queso. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom.
This is indeed amazing. I love queso dip. Thank you so much for sharing, gentlemen. You two have such a good sense of humor. I wanna be y'all's friend, because I love, love, love, love, love, love you guys!!!😁😁😁😁
William, you just made our day, our week...hell, our month!! We appreciate what you said so much! We love, love, love, love you, too!! Consider us friends!!!! Best, Kris & Wesley
Woo hoo! Thank you! And we're sending plenty of Loon lovin' back your way, too! Thank you for your support! Please stay in touch and stay tuned...so much more fun and food on the way!!
You started by saying you were going to use "real cheese" and then you used "American cheese" that processed cheese pretty much the same as Velveeta. It is made from milk solids, milk fat, whey, and all of the same chemicals. If you want to actually use "real cheese", you get a lot better emulsification if you use sodium citrate instead of cornstarch. Just my two cents worth. You guys are great!
hi gentleman! thank you for sharing. just a quick question, how "hot" does the jalapeno make the dip? i have a low tolerance for spicy foods and would love to make this but am unsure about the jalapeno. if you can, please let me know! also, i love that flannel shirt! :D
Thank you for your wonderful recipes! I always enjoy your videos and love your joyful energy! Also you are both looking very handsome and slim! :) Love you two.
Thank you so so much, Margaret! That means the world to us (especially the 'slim' part! LOL!). We are sending lots of love back to you, too! Happy New Year! Please stay in touch! xoxo
Pure party !!,Come to Toronto,we’ll do this,margaritas,quesadillas,and .....margaritas,good music,...margaritas,invite 20 people,last person awake wins .a sombrero.....or ....something ha! ha!♥️♥️
I'm doing a taco bar after church on Sunday, and I'm wondering if there is any way to make this the night before and then stick it in a crockpot before we leave or something???
Hi there!! Yes! You can reheat in the microwave in 1 minutes intervals until warmed through, then transfer to your crockpot on the warm setting. Have fun!
@@HowToFeedaLoon Just to comment a bit further, I’ve made thousands of gallons of this stuff working in restaurants 😂. In Austin, ground zero where queso is eaten, our standard recipe now uses whole milk and grated American cheese. Over the years taste for thicker queso changed, and our restaurant recipe has become “lighter”, as it were. (Nobody uses Velveeta any more.) But as I stated, your recipe is really good and very tasty. Thanks for uploading, and for being such engaging hosts.
@@HowToFeedaLoon It didn't look silky smooth, but it was cohesive, and it tasted good. The downside is when I reheated it the oil from the cheddar was visible.
Hi Kris. I’ve made this many times and it’s delicious but I’ve got a box of Velveeta getting close to the expiration date and was wondering if I could use it instead of the American cheese? Thanks.
Hey there! You know, the Velveeta would be just fine! It melts perfectly and is creamy. It will be a little denser than the version with American cheese, but will still be delicious. Let us know how it turns out!
Hi Loons! I’m making this tonight as in everything is prepped. In the video say 1 cup of evaporated milk and 1 cup water but the recipe has 13 ounces…almost 2 cups of evaporated milk. Which is better? BTW holding the cheese is better than ‘cutting the cheese’ 😂
@@HowToFeedaLoon I went with the whole can and it was the best queso recipe...I love Velveeta queso, but I finally found my restaurant queso recipe. :)
Pickled jalapenos will work just fine. Actually, the heat will be a little less, which is no problem. Plus, it will add a little more acid from the pickling, that has a nice taste as well. So, though it will be a little different in taste and texture, the end result will still be delicious! Hope this helps and let us know if you make the queso and what you think! Kris & Wesley
@@HowToFeedaLoon Well I can say it was a complete hit! (even though some of my friends are complete wusses when it comes to a little heat, but even they kept coming back for more) Would definitely make again! 😁
I’m just going to assume that this recipe beats the hell out of the basic Velveeta mixed with milk, butter, and Rotel recipe. I can’t stand that stuff. It’s way too cheesy for me.
What's wrong with that? If you don't like gay couples, then why express such hatred publicly? You should never judge people based on their sexual preferences.
@@tinksy12 be disgusted all you want. I don't care. I support gay people 100%. Again, I don't care what you think and you shouldn't judge people based on their sexual preferences. Shame on you!
