Nice ! They are really cool. In my video I did make a mistake. When you put the new pin in the washer goes on the opposite side of the charging handle.. I put it on the wrong side so it made the dust cover harder to open.
Reading the other comments the decision to drill through the hinge pin seems contentious. Glad you went through it and it worked out for you. I've been meaning to install my TWS gen 3 rail on my M92. What size drill bit did you use ? If you wanted to return to the old dust cover can you use the TWS pin ?
Yes you can use the TWS pin if you wanted to go back.. but there was one issue with doing that which I can’t remember right now.. I have been away from home for a few months, but when I get home I will post what you need to go back to the old dust cover.. as far as drill size I don’t remember either and not able to look at my guns at the moment . Sorry!
@@Mr_P_Rockzz Thanks for the response. So I tried taking my power drill and drilling into the hinge pin but it barely penetrated. I don't have that much experience with metal work. I read somewhere you want to drill on a lower rpm and use oil.
@@finaljustice3848 really whatever works for you .. I don’t have lots of experience but I have some common sense.. i Remember I started it slower and then when the whole started to open up I was able to speed up the drill so it wouldn’t slip off the spot.. my video is edited so it took longer than what you see.. just drill slow take your time make it look nice so you don’t scratch up your rifle/ pistol. I may have used a small drop of oil but not much . Some people say you can hammer it out but I had no luck doing that.
The pin holding the cover pops out you don’t have to drill it. You just need a proper punch and to hammer it out. Also i believ you put the screw in wrong the washer goes on the other side under the bolt. The squared off side sits in the actual groove.
Yeah thanks! I had fixed the washer after the video when I realized hats it didn’t fit right in the squared side.. I will say I could not get this to punch out at all though.. couldn’t pop off the ring or punch it in.. even after I took off the ring it was still hard to punch through.. thanks!
So the original rail is ok if you want to add a small red dot … if you add a red dot on the original rail you would have your red dot really far forward on the pistol and it has to be a small one.. I couldn’t fit an eotech on the original because the dust cover would not open if I had it on… This new rail is just like any regular rail you can have the optic closer to your face and still have room for a magnifier or anything you want to add
it depends on the eye relief of your optic. i have a primary arms prism 3x and i can barely see through it with the factory rail so far forward on the zpap92. this rail allows you to mount the optic further back for better eye relief.
Idk yet I haven’t shot it with this on yet. Also just put a new sight on it so won’t know till I zero, but I have heard this rail is the real deal and good quality
Just a bit of constructive criticism, buy a nice punch set, don't use a drill bit as a punch. Drill bits are brittle and can shatter into small pieces possibly entering your eyes or those of small ones in the same room. Be safe dude.
I tried using a punch like the instructions said. I was hitting the pin for a while using a gunsmith hammer and punch... NOTHING! Didn't move an MM. Then I tried drilling carefully and it came right off
An update? Nothing really I can think of to make a video on this.. I have used it many times and opened not up and cleaned it and holds zero .. really good rail system
