Great review. Just bought a 2018 xx used with 3k miles from an off-road racer who used it as his family fun machine. His review matched yours and we are pleased to now own it!
Very thorough review pretty much every point that you described about it is why I bought mine I didn’t care how much I spent or what I was buying at the time I’m not brand loyal I think that’s kinda stupid there’s a machine for all of us and the more options we have the better, I looked at the can am rc and Polaris turbo really hate how they both built they’re frames especially can am it’s and abomination Almost everything is single shear and they’re double is just a tab connecting two bolts. After being involved in off road racing I don’t understand how they hold up seams like a lot of the structure relies on the cage, run them without it and see which one folds in half first I can promise anyone it won’t be the xx they’re frame design to me resembles a race chassis closer than ANY of them. I’m not hating any of the others I just appreciated the way Robby designed the xx if it wasn’t for him it wouldn’t be the way it is and I wouldn’t of bought it.
My 18 xx didn’t have the oil filter clogging issue. Not sure if dealer already done it...but I did change it to be sure and the filter was good! One note....It’s pretty easy to remove that rear section of tubing for diff fluid changes. I definitely agree on the loudness of the high rev engine! Wearing a helmet really changes that anyway! Your stock springs will sag and you will need to remove each shock to adjust preload to gain the 14-15” ride height! I had to adjust mine several times after the first year...finally upgraded to the shock therapy dual rate spring kit!! Amazing difference!!
3000 kilos or 1800 miles on my 19. No problems other than reinforcing my steering rods and snapped the front yolk. It’s a weak point that I was able to just tack weld back up. Some people weld them solid but I wanted to still be a weak point and not destroy the front diff. Awesome hill machine. Disconnect front sway bar and go anywhere. I climb fairly extreme hills and never let me down.
You hit on all good points and is exactly why I bought it as well!! Still love it!!! I’ve done many kool upgrades! Very easy to work on and add accessories! Good vid!!!
@@TheVanguard43 it has trailing arms which is the best suspension for offroad and designed by Robby Gordon!! Control arms are a different suspension setup seen on polaris and others crappy made brands!!
@@TheVanguard43 no radius rods either! Totally different setups! You get the best suspension geometry with a trailing arm setup! That’s why stadium trucks and extreme offroad vehicles use them!
@@outdoorzone well im gonna keep digging. Sxs blog used to have q said they sold it cause they couldn't krro it together so idk. And I've heard parts are sometimes hard to come by and aftermarket is expensive?
I read where so many people dogshit these. I can see where the XX is a way better platform to mod than a lot of other machines out there. If you put your money in the right places you will have a much better machine dollar for dollar than most any other machine out there. At 6k under sticker you sir got a killer deal!
In my opinion it is. I wish AC and Textron would have pushed the advertising and such a little harder. I have a 2021 Tracker XTR 1000 and it is an amazing machine. Just a tune and pipes kicks me up to 150ish hp without turbos or anything. The suspension, build quality, cage and steel used are waaaaaaaaaaaay better than anything out there except of course Speed. Of course you can add all the speed parts to it so that is awesome as well.
I have a 2020XX with 1600 miles on it so far. This is a good, honest review of the machine. I ride rocky desert trails and the stock tires are probably only going to last about 3000 miles. You buy the XX for the suspension and ride and for the ease of maintaining. Swap out the seats for a good suspension, harnesses, roof, etc and you have a machine you’ll ride in comfortably all day long.
I only got about 1600 miles on the stock tires that being said we do a fair amount of road travel but upgraded to the BFG km3 tire and absolutely love them!
I got a 2018 too. In general I like it despite its weak points because it has some. And one that you forgot is the extreme temperature inside the cabin. With a closed cabin it is unbearable. I had to isolate the whole interior to enjoy a ride in summer.
Yes the XX is great. I still would recommend it. Other than a broken axle which was my fault I never had trouble with it. Having said that, last month I traded it for an ATV to downsize and save some money. Prices are insane right now and the offers are hard to refuse. Maybe in a couple years I'll get another XX.
Any issues with ground clearance? I’m really interested in buying one but I had a friend tell me he has a friend who has issues with ground clearance all the time. Especially in the snow. Any info would be great
I had to adjust preload several times after first year and finally upgraded to shock therapy dual rate shock kit! My xx was heavy though with spare tire in bed and tools and add on accessories that robbed ride height or caused premature sag on shocks cuz they are very plush to begin with!
@@outdoorzone I had to do mine twice as well I’m always loaded down on rides seams people aren’t educated enough on sxs’s they all need readjustment after time and not always from the dealers are they set up properly.
I've been interested in these for a while and i'm just wondering, where exactly are the intakes for the belt box and things like that, are they up above the bed there in that screen type area?
