Well considering it’s not a turbo, it’s not going to beat the Turbo S. That’s just a silly comparison, but you’ll be surprised at how well it holds up. I can personally confirm that it will out run a YXZ with ease. You also need to consider that this unit has had ZERO break in period. The XX will not reach its full potential in these tests so it’s not a good comparison.
Great review!! XX and X3 look smoothest in your whoops ! Waiting in suspense for the rest!!! I’m really interested in the XX!!! Thanks for putting this together! You all make it look simple and I know better!! All the editing is tough work on the behind! Lol Thanks again!! Keep em rolling!
Best XX video yet and the wait for part 2 is killing me . You guys are going to blow up your channel . Please give us more , I want to buy one but I need to see all your videos of this ultimate comparison!!!
SXSBlog.com When you guys get a chance, you need to make a trip to Windrock for a weekend of riding. I'm in GA but we ride up that way quite a bit. Let me know if you plan on going and we would be happy to show you around there. Plenty to see wth the train, Brushy Mountain Prison and a wide variety of trails. Can't beat it!
Great job guys! The only thing better than watching every time you upload is missing several then binge watching sxsblog for about three hours straight! HA!
You have to use ECO switch mode through whoops if you want a less responsive throttle. Makes it much smoother. Good job getting a XX out there for testing.
I agree. The XX was designed to haul ass through very rough terrain, like a trophy truck. I know....I have one, and bought it for that reason. You can hit almost anything at any speed. It tracks near perfect, with light grip on the wheel.
Awesome Video guys!!! Love watching all of yalls vids. Love getting to see all the different models and yalls passion for the sport! Keep it up guys and we will keep watching!
XX looked like you could drive through the woops with one hand on the wheel. Just never went sideways at all. The TurboS was all over the place. Even the maverick looked fairly harsh from the video, but obviously doesn't feel that way from inside.
It did appear that the XX tracked the best. It makes sense with the way the trailing arms work. Also the suspension is the softest of all of the machines so that certainly helps it's prowess in this type of riding.
Spinning tires make things slide and hp is the reason. I'm about to buy xx 2019. I'm at the Adirondack foothills. I think it will work good for slow creek running and tight mx racing.
Just a $30 Speedwerx 200 - 280 spring in the secondary clutch makes a massive difference. Bumps it from 8200 - 9200 rpm when you hammer it which is closer to where the power is.
@@pathofresilience1796 It definitely can. The clutches aren't always tuned to peak performance from the factory but you can also go the wrong way if you aren't careful. Another big help with this is getting the ecu flashed by someone like Alba or Speedwerks where they bump the rev limiter up to 10k+.
Damn you guys are going places with sxs blog. Nice work fellas. From what ive seen I think Textron is going in the right direction. All in all I think the rzr XP is the most well rounded car out of them all. Not saying its the best, I just see it as the most versatile.
No one reviewing sxs ever review like you would if it was an automobile. I would love to hear your interpretation of how they accelerate. I understand their fast, but how does the power come on? We've all watched or read car reviews. I would really like your guys take on those machines. Awesome job breaking up the tests. Less likely to get me fired. Lol
So one thing that I noticed while watching. It kinda seemed like the XX dipped forward a lot in the whoops section kinda how the XP1K does while the Mav and the Turbo S seemed to be a little bit more level throughout. However, I think if the headlights had been on in the Turbo S it might have helped to better see if it rocked forward. Great vid!
To me it looked in the video as though the XX was bouncing around a lot compared to the 1000 RZR and definitely the X3 But I see everyone else saw it differently. Anyway great job on the testing so far can't wait to see the rest of it.
It's a Yamaha motor. Arctic Cat and Yamaha had a joint venture for snowmobiles that used Yamaha engines in an Arctic Cat chassis. That joint venture also reached into the SXS land to give us the Yamaha YXZ triple in this Wildcat. Yamaha is an engine manufacturer and a damn good one. I wouldn't complain.
Cool video guys. Was very interesting. You guys do a lot of jumping and my sxs I don't think would be a good jumper. She's just a bit stiff feeling. You've probably never even heard of the one I have. I have a CFMOTO Zforce 800 Trail. The suspension was set really stiff from the dealership I softened up the front and it's a lot better but still feels stiff. May have to upgrade shocks in the future
Finally a un-biased legit review..... Blah blah blah it's heavy, underpowered, Textron is 4 years to late! I feel it's a great competitor in the N/A sxs! Just need to get that price down with the rest of them, it will be a solid homerun!
The XX sure looks like a real contender from everything I have read and seen. While I still prefer my YXZ gearbox, the XX is absolutely interesting. Textron appears to have stepped up in a big way with this machine. Though from the video, it looked like the Can Am was the smoothest through the woops and did not dance as much as the others. As Doug said, the longer wheelbase probably played a big role in that section.
Yep. probably requires watching multiple times to catch everything as there is a lot going on and a lot to compare. Of course each of these have a lot of flexibility in adjustments that could make them perform better in the woops by just tweaking compression/rebound settings too as they all have nice shocks/springs/crossovers, etc.
Tires that day made a difference, the coyotes not the best for those wet conditions. The XX had better tires for this condition as well. Just looking at the suspension work the XX did not out perform the S Turbo, but it did work as well as the XP 1 K and looked to perform better than the XDS, the bump steer was really bad in the XDS but you dont feel it because of the DPS . DPS tends to mask those problems. The seating position in the XX Is bit lower and more reclined which give the perception that you are riding smoother as you are more recline than the seating of the RZR this has been shown to be true in many reviews with the rzr vs XDS.
This seems to be how Textron (Arctic Cat) works. When the X first came out it was mind blowing, then everyone else passed them by. The XX is looking better and better, but will they be able to hold their position long term? I hope so, we could use some more competition in the space.
SIN3R6Y well when the X came out Textron didn’t own arctic cat yet. Textron has lots of cash supposedly and say they are committed to supporting their new offroad division. I gotta think they wouldnt buy arctic cat if they didn’t plan on being competitive.
I'm aware of the recent acquisition, and this is really the first product to come out of it. Hard to say how it will go long term. But as of now the XX looks great and is priced very competitively. It's going to take more than cash to make this thing a real competitor though. One of Arctic Cat's biggest issues was the lack of a solid dealer network. There are three Polaris and two Can Am dealers within an hour drive of me. Closest Arctic Cat / Textron dealer is 4 hours away. I own an WCX currently and love it despite it's aging design, i also have a really good relationship with that dealer, but it's be really nice if there was a closer one. Regardless i'm excited for the future, and hope the Textron can really get things into gear.
Every time I watch one of your videos it makes me want to bring up my xp1k from Ohio and rip harder than normal. If you guys do any rides in Ohio(even though it known you hate the state 😂) let me know I’ll be there!
Pretty much hit the nail on the head. My buddies and I have found a few in the 2-3 places in the state that you can fit a 64". A lot down in WV and i plan on hitting a few in the surrounding states. Do a lot of backroading as well. Hoping to get a trip out west planned for next year sometime
Not a bad performer. I was checking it out at the event. I wasn’t Crazy about the looks the rear end just appears bulky and the dash was a little odd to me I can see where the plate can be taken off for a gps unit and would make it look a lot better, but it also seems really low in the dash for a display but that is just being picky I did see if perform well at the event
Erik Jeffery when I seen the dark gray smoke XX like in this video, I didnt like it at all. When I seen the Lime green one at the event, it looked like a whole different machine. Suddenly I loved the looks.
I am sure it would grow on me. I just couldn’t get past that rear end being extended so far out. But that’s just me I am a rzr guy and I’m used to the tires being past the bed. I went up against it in my 110 unit and it was right there with me the whole way so I can’t say anything bad other then my personal taste.
sport, but the tire choice here made a difference, the suspension was doing great you can see that in the video, there really was not any machine that out performed there, the perception is subjective in the drivers seat. The S with some efx motoclaws 32 in the same test would have shown better.
Supposedly Eco mode still gives you 100% available power, just cuts down on the sharpness of the throttle response. I think you would see an improvement running eco mode on this test.
XX was 2 front 3 year, XDS was factory delivered (I believe), XP1000 was stock spring position and compression dampening in the middle, YXZ was Weller Short Course setup (with stock valving), and Turbo S was in sport mode.
i think by far the xx looked the best through the whoops, the xds next and the 1000xp the turbo polaris looked the worse seemed like it bounced side to side the most
The wildcat is a awesome UTV but I don't know if it's just me but they don't look right as in tire size from factory or the way the roll cage is or just the overall shape of the UTV. Does anyone else know what I'm talking about or have the same opinion? And if yes tell me what it is that looks weird to you. Thanks for reading this and have a great day. Also awesome video!!!
I've read it said that people like the looks better in person. I can attest to this. In most vids and pics these at first looked hideous to me. Now my 3 considerations are Wildcat XX, Turbo S or 2 RS1's. Just sat in a 2019 XX today after work in the white and grey and I'm really, really considering making my move on it. More research to come...
I vow to buy nothing but yamaha this day forward but..... the new xx cat is very cool. Yamaha motor is the key. Hope the rest will last as long as the engine.
I want to see the XX lap times on a track or course to see how it compares to its competition where just straight speed is not a factor but more on the handling aspects.
SXSBlog.com Come on you guys, you gots to show us more !!! I want to shopping for my new SxS this weekend!! I need to be ready for Memorial Day Weekend, baby ! Lol🙏
