Using the Natascha as a crutch against scouts and knights is something I'm definitely trying to stop relying on, since it doesn't take much to realize I'm giving up a considerable bit of DPS for a slow that any smart player could just remember that they can mash A and D out of it and get away relatively scot-free. Thanks TF2 spaghetti code :( It looks a bit neat festivized at the very least, and the Iron Curtain I use sadly can't have any festivizers on it. And to be fair, that damage resistance isn't nothing to scoff at, especially if you have a medic keeping you healthy. The Huo-Long Heater would take the spot of least viable minigun in my humble opinion thanks to the short ranged rings of fire 95% of the time not really accomplishing much, and the fact that apparently you can jump over the flames kind of defeats the purpose of them as a spy deterrent or scout melter. (Though I haven't really given it much of a chance since I rarely if ever use it, if I'm honest with myself.)
I personally think the Natascha is a side-grade at least. It is generally even more effective at close range, a range where heavy is already very effective, and less effective an longer ranges due to the damage reduction.
I think Natascha is actually worse at close range, where it becomes a mediocre crutch for tracking. Natascha serves a supportive role, I think personally, it's meant to be used on enemies that are approaching or retreating. What really keeps Natascha back, though, is in a scenario where you're fighting another heavy or a sniper, since they don't need speed, and you'll likely be dead well before they are

wow, first time watching your channel and i love it and i respect your opinion as is totally understandable..... That being said, as a Natacha lover, this is the weapon if you like playing more defensive but not to much to use brass beast and you HATE scouts, soldiers and quick scope snipers. (and demoknight if that's even possible )
Glad to hear you liked the video, even though I sound like I haven't blown my nose in years. Natascha could be used as a more defensive support weapon but personally enjoy more ambush style, so Tomislav is for me
Perkele, i wouldn't say its the worst primary by long shot (that would be the brass beast). Its more or less balanced in casual (unlike in comp) mainly because the slow down is so Oppressively powerful, and a minigun that can slow down enemies is kind of a neat idea in a first person shooter (even if tf2 is a movement based game) though pretty easy to hate or get annoyed by for obvious reasons. The rev up time isn't nearly as bad from my experience, but 25% damage penalty is significant. The damage output isn't as bad in 1vs1s since you also have damage resistance (which i think is kinda unnecessary for it) and its a minigun (which already does the highest dps of any weapon in the game) but with large groups of players it makes a difference. I'm also a natasha enjoyer and as a secondary main as a heavy, while the weapon kinda sucks when dealing with chokes and against tougher classes, with maps like harvest where there's majority of movement classes it can make a huge difference and feels satisfying to use especially against arrogant and egotistical scouts (which i hate scouts btw). Its my favorite gun to use as its kinda underrated (mainly because people overrate tomislav as better than stock when its a side grade than a straight upgrade) and does the job pretty well.
worst? it's the best knowing im ruining someone else's day by slowing them down, also in closer areas it makes it easier to aim since they cant move around as much. I was intending to mess with trolldiers
I think that it's not as bad as the Huo long heather and brass beast in terms of power, and is better than the brass beast in terms of fun (i know fun is subjective, but most people think that the brass beast is boring).
I'll be honest, when it comes to performance? I'm going to make the EXTREMELY HOT TAKE and say that from most to least effective, Tomislav > Natasha > Stock > Brass Beast > Heater. But the Natasha's design is fundamentally the most flawed of his miniguns. I think your reworked design could... actually still be really flawed though. People thought the GRU was bad for "removing heavy's weakness" but no, the GRU was fine. It's his REVVED DOWN SPEED that is the real cap on heavies power. Lifting that can genuinely take Heavy from underpowered to "Hey I just got my first 50 killstreak".
I know, even I have to admit that reworking Natascha to be still unique unlock this way is flawed. I didn't really think at the time of writing what kind of horrors it would bring if revved up heavy was fast
I hate the natascha, Especially on trade servers, like the zero gravity ones xD It's annoying as fuck, but at least it works more than in the base game, honestly a rework wouldn't hurt, TF2 is a good, very good balanced to have Weapons that are direct counters to other classes! As a heavy main who has seen Natasha at it's best, and I mean the most pain I've endured by someone who knew how to use the weapon a had a vacc medic up their ass. It should be as hated as the scorch shot, it's cheap while yes it kills slow, it's kinda comparable to the tomislav, where you almost killed that run away spy/scout or other fast class. But giving it a 20% damage resistance, NAH, let the brass beast keep that, natasha doesn't need it, and you add a vacc medic so now with 30% damage resistance, I've been playing on communitie servers recently and it got picked for a while, making some of the nastiest encounters I've had with heavies, sometimes where I was positioned well and had a medic too, but no the damage resistance man, it robbed me out of a well deserved kill. It is a cheap gun it's not fun to fight against, not even as a heavy, and I'm supposed to be alright fighting those, but nah I've lost far more times to natasha than to a brass beast and I've seen good brass beast users I've seen the damage they can do, but they're still fair fights even with the 20% dmg resistance, but the slowdown effect, ACH, just remove the dmg resistance it doesn't need it the slowdown is good enough and maybe speed up the rev up a lil' bit. Also it's also painful because it leads to these stalemate-y situations where two heavies just can't kill each other, one is taking but just tickles the other one, and the other just can kill a cheap tank who is also making them slightly slower from running away. It takes real team effort if the guy is playing well (thankfully most people can't play proper heavy for shit and this usually isn't a problem) to take a good natasha user, screw them. Horrible weapon, 0/10 I don't care you have a strage nastasha with counts and kills and unusuals I care about you being helpful to the team and playing fair, and you ain't better than a scorch shot pyro, probably slightly so if you weren't screwing over skilled play for scouts and soldiers. Git gut.
Natasha has been banned in HL since 5-6 years back for being too broken. The slow down effect works like a designated ”shoot this person here” feature and is absolutely broken when playing with others. On its own it makes heavy weaker but when implemented like it should be, in a team, it’s very powerful. It is also just boring as fuck to play against as every class. Slowdowns work bad in a game about moving and shooting
