- I do talk about the tutorials available ingame. Watch before you comment. - The F6 is a suggestion, not an existing feature. - Difficult Learning Curves do NOT mean it's impossible to learn the basics of the game. It means the game is difficult to IMPROVE at. Don't misconstrue the idea that i'm saying the game is impossible to learn the basics of. - I'm not praising overwatch, i'm comparing what I think it does better and what it does worse. - I never said it's impossible to learn the game. I said it's unnecessarily difficult for the majority of unfamiliar players. - I'm not saying TF2's learning curve is one of the hardest in gaming, I'm saying it's harder than it should be for its genre. - It's not a dead game, it's a stagnant game with wasted potential. - Once again, i've played the game casually for 5 years, competitively for three and made videos for two. These are the opinions i've gathered over that timeframe. If you disagree, leave something constructive. Honestly, I’ve never played TF2. I don’t own a computer capable to play it and I probably won’t any time soon. But I’ve watched so many videos, essays, guides, and content in general about TF2 to the point that I’ve been taught about a good bit of the complex mechanics, so in a way I have gotten a proper tutorial on the game, without ever even playing it.

I started playing a few months ago with some friends, and although I enjoy the game , I always feel underpowered compared to the rest of the lobby. What are contracts? What is the meta? I have no fucking clue.

Luckily for me, i discovered the community before the actual game, so i did my homework and then downloaded the game

Tf2 would be literally the best shooter of all time if valve would just do something to fix it.

I just started playing tf2 this weekend and this was literally my expirience. Joined a match, chose pyro, didn't even know how to switch weapons, tried to use the tutorial, was broken, tried to figure it out for a couple hours, and gave up.

I think the descriptions on the character select screen are part of the reason there are so many clueless spy mains. Spy has the most bullet points, so a new player will think, "Woah! Look at all the stuff this guy can do! I should play as him." and select the Spy.

I've been playing TF2 off and on for 13 years and I still don't know what i'm doing

I just got TF2 today. I freaking love it, but by God, what the hell is going on. After two years of knowing what it is & watching gameplay videos, I can only really play against bots. Edit: After nearly a year, I'd say I'm doing pretty well, & I can confidently play all the classes on any pubs server.

As someone who played a lot of TF2 back in the day, became unable to play it for a good 2 - 3 years then finally came back to it with like 0 clue of what I'm doing in a casual match and finishing with a K/D of 4 - 14, this video makes me feel better about myself

y'know, its funny, because Age of Empires 2 definitive edition, an RTS of all things, has an abundant number of optional tutorials. The William Wallace campaign teaches you all the basic game mechanics, and the Art of War teaches you the more advanced tactics that all the competitive players use. Its honestly pretty funny that something as Niiche as an RTS game teaches new players better than an FPS, something with much broader appeal

I've played the game since 2015, stopped in 2018 (where the game was pretty much dead) and see the game reborning again with the memes actually makes me happy

I'm self-taught, and it took me around 400 hours to have general knowledge of each weapon, class, and other basic shit. So yeah, a tutorial could have been nice.

TF2 is the size of a puddle with the depth of the ocean.

And even the best current way to learn (loading tips) the majority of them aren’t even correct because they’re outdated.

I started Playing TF2 recently. All I knew was the things I saw in videos. Things like: Engineer builds things, Spy can sap them and backstab, Pyro can reflect rockets, Scout can double jump, Heavy is basically a tank, Soldier has Rocket Jumping, and Sandviches can be used by a Heavy to heal. That's pretty much it. And now, I have only 2-3 hours played on each class, and I'm aware of my strong points and weak points, like how I'm a terrible Scout and don't trust my teammates enough to not br spies to play as Medic well without seeming like a Battle Medic, and have terrible, TERRIBLE Sniper aim, and that I'm a moderately good Pyro and Soldier, while also being an okay Spy. Despite that, I have no idea what I'm doing half the time.

If you want to learn to play TF2, play as a medic for a good few hours. You will see how all the classes play.

I remember when I got this game for free with the orange box, it was an awesome game, simple to learn, simple to play but included challenges. I put hundreds of hours into it, then I stopped playing for a few years, I came back recently and found myself lost beyond belief, new crafting system, insane amount of items and weapons to be overwhelmed. I used to play this game and I feel discouraged trying to learn everything new that they added, just imagine how a new player feels.

It's more something like this: Starts playing, fucking dies a lot, plays heavy and kills two people, start watching tf2 youtube videos, plays soldier and can't do the jumpy rocket thing the guy did in the video, searches how to do it, still can't do it, does it, dies to a sniper, plays sniper because he killed you then it's obviously the best class in the game, don't hit anything, goes back to soldier, do more rocket jumps kills a guy while in the air and feel awesome.

It's 2020 and this video is still relavant and that's sad

I quit playing TF2 because i had no idea how to really play it. I tried really hard how to do all the stuff i would watch my team do and have no idea why i would fail. Now i know from you that there are things i can learn from the community. Ill give it a try again.

I've played exactly one competitive match, and despite it being competitive, it was easier than a lot of casual matches I've played. Not to mention how incredibly toxic competitive players are.

TF2 is dying. Overwatch is blooming. But hey,atleast TF2 will still be alive by the time it becomes 10 years old.

This is exactly why I quit TF2. 2000 hours The developers just don't give a single fuck about the game with a lot of potential. TF2 has been in development for 18 years Overwatch has been in development for under 4 years and it is way more polished and it listens to it's community. TF2 is dying, people like to be ignorant about that fact, but it is dying. Sure it is still highly played, but most players who have played it a long time are quitting. It's a free game which attracts a lot of kids who's mother won't buy them games online, but that's what it is. Filled with braindead players who are new, hackers and bronies, lots and lots of bronies.

I got fairly decent in Overwatch in 3 days. I got fairly decent in TF2 in 3 months. I suck i know

i just downloaded this game last night amd have about a hour in every character. this video said everything i was feeling and more. one of the best videos ive seen in awhile

this along with lazy purple has gotten me into tf2, I love listening to all the intricate details and exclusively source engine things like rocket jumps, trimping, c-tapping, bhopping after rocket jumping with the shovel out to keep the guaranteed crit without being in the air (took me awhile to understand how that worked). Im garbage at fps games with mouse and keyboard, I (at the time) only had an xbox so all i could do was watch and for the past 3 years its been like that but soon I will begin my journey learning everything for myself. Thank you funke, literally all i could ask for in a tf2 video.

My favorite part was learning to play Engineer. I was taught to turtle near certain spots and deny the enemy team the victory. Then other maps showed up requiring me to learn how to play better, moving my turret on the fly and such. Instead of learning how to do that, I only played on the Capture maps because it felt right.
