my favourite part about this challenge is that, much like real life tik tok challenges, there's no challenge to it, and you just end up killing yourself in really stupid ways most of the time.

I think most of the time the reason you're being discovered is not because the spot is bad, but because Spy is constantly blurting out loud his complaints about the cart not moving. Like that scout at 8:16 didn't suspect a thing until Spy opened his giant mouth and bellowed "THE CART IS SUPPOSED TO MOVE FORWARD"

The pure sass of that engie plopping down and constructing a whole-ass sentry right next to you box trotting instead of just shooting you or smacking you with melee is unparalleled lmaooooo

They should add red and blue boxes around the map just to fool people that think there’s a spy

That small army of direct crit soldiers moving out together was terrifying

I remember when this taunt released and you could confuse the heck out of blu team by standing in an inconspicuous spot with the box to defend the point or cart, but now everyone just about knows its a boxtrot spy doing it when it happens

Jonto is artificially inflating the price of boxtrots for his own financial gain Wait...

this made me think: *what if there was an unlock disguise kit that made the spy into prop hunt* you have 9 props to choose from instead of the mercs, like a trash can, generator, or those big concrete blocks, but nothing too big in the menu. you can rotation lock by hitting B and the usual rules of no shooting and visible flames when lit apply. your hitbox changes to that of the prop and people can walk on, but not build on you. you also inherit the speed of a soldier while disguised, no matter which prop you are. I think it would be a really fun, albeit gimmicky unlock for the spy.

If I was into map making, I'd so troll players by having the Box Trot model in random spots around the map. Even worse: Have them randomize after each round just so players can never get used to them... or maybe they will and then Spies can situate themselves in known Box Trot spawns to pull a sneaky on enemy players. :P

what i've learnt from this is that snipers are the least aware, while engineers are the most aware.

The Boxtrot in TF2 has always seemed like a strange case to me.

Spy: "Ah a fellow box connoisseur." Soilder: "Oh hello Mr Box!" Scout: " . . . what?" Engi: *"PEACE WAS NEVER AN OPTION!"* (whack)

I think it would be cool if the challenge was to get from one designated spot to the other, using only the boxtrot taunt without dying. You’d have to blend in when someone passes by, so you don’t get killed. It’d take a bit long depending on the distance between the start and end point, but could be really fun.

When it first came out it actually was an effective disguise. I remeber actually getting kills because i was blending in to the various props. Nowadays though, people actually recognize what a box trot looks like and never fall for it.

Amazing, glamorous, and even shall I say, dastardly preposterous! I quite enjoy the days when our beloved spy main uploads to keep us entertained, or maybe, to keep the algorithm machine from dropping their channel! Through your endeavors, you have pleased me once more!

This was a long time ago when the Boxtrot first released, but I remember seeing a vid from a very small YTer who sat on the kart as the box and pushed it for the entire round and even top scored because of it. And then on defending sat infront of it and stopped the kart for a solid minute before the blues realized what was happening. She was ahead of our time~

I've used the boxtrot strat a few times and it's pretty fun. I think this works best on the front line in a corner, bc the enemies will be too preoccupied fighting to look for spies. I noticed that you're putting yourself either directly in front of where enemies are walking, making it hard NOT to get spotted, or in the middle of team fights where you can get easily hit by explosives and flame. I think the strat works best on defense of attack/defend or payload, you can place yourself right outside attacker spawn at the start of the round bc everyone is too busy with the start of round team fight to notice you. You can also put yourself close to the points/cart in a spot where you're not immediately visible to attacker walking towards it (put yourself on the otherside of a wall so that attackers will have to turn around or turn 90 degrees to see you). Plus a little thing that might help, try to position the box so that the side with "The Red" or "the Blue" is facing the wall, which is usually on your left, bc the words are big and in your team's color making it more noticeable. A brown box is easier to overlook than a red/blue box.

When people say disguises dont work, they should see this. A boxcan fool the entire tesm, imagine what disguising as enemy could do.

seeing this challenge apear once in awhile in a new fresh way is pretty nice it also reminds me how many new people there has actually come to tf2 there dont know about these things

I use the boxtrot on pl_goldrush's 2nd stage. There is a spot that is protected by a wall where you can just sit and stop the payload from moving. I once held an entire match with just this.

I think the box taunt should have two changes: -Reduce the hitbox to like crawl, because right now it consider you are standing up. -Make it so Sentries don't detect you. You may think this is busted, but not only are you obvious to all enemies, you are super slow. So if anything this is a painfully nerfed clock. But it would be funny. I wonder if this could be a fix posted on the workshop.

So when this taunt first released along near the end of the line update, people got so confused why they couldn’t cap points, oh those were the days! Glad you could enjoy a small fraction of those days! The experiences were legendary! And I think back In The day sentries would miss the box due to the hit box, but I could be Mis-remembering.

Honestly with a little work you could make this just a side grade to the invis watch or disguise kit. Make the box less obvious, like a wooden crate that's already a prop in game, sprinkle a few more crates in places that randomly switch every map, and boom, job's a good one. Obviously make it so sentries don't detect you in the box.
