If I had a dollar for every time I was told about Australian Federal legislation in a TF2 RU-vid video, I would only have 2 dollars, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it's happened twice.
9:59 Tall, lanky man with a modernised short-cut mullet shouting to a sea of annoyed people about market manipulation and pyramid schemes is honestly never what I expected from this channel, but I am eager to see how this chapter progresses.
update: since I totally miss the opportunity to buy a strange Lollichop............... so I give myself a good excuse and get my own Professional Killstreak Strange Rainblower(which is cheaper than the current Lollichop) and it brings back good memories XD

I mean, you could also try standing around and shouting that, whether you should is another question from what I can imagine, it's probably easier to explain if you have someone recording you and you have a youtube channel
Roughly about 20 hours after this video was released, somebody in a server I was in found a lollichop from random drops, and that made the entire voice chat go mad with the desire to destroy the steam market.
as a lollichop user i am very pleased to see that you have taken interest in it. i truly love pyrovision and the high pitched voices you get when using it and i think that gets overlooks a lot, thank you elmaxo :)
Speaking of the trading system... There's this really cool thing that allows F2Ps to get strange weapons Its called "random drops" Think about it.2 random drops of the same class=1 scrap. 3 scrap(6 weapons)=1 reclaimed. 3 reclaimed(18 weapons)=1 refined. Let's take the cheapest strange(probably a MK II botkiller minigun) as 3 refined. 1 strange=54 weapons. It's a long and slow process, but it seems beautiful to me.
I'm sorry sir Elmaxo, I'm already a collector of Ham Shanks (at a total of 600 Ham Shanks) But I wish the rest of us the best of luck, lord bless the lolichop!
He said he won't/shouldn't do it, but I say do it! Create a follow up video with how much money he got in profit from doing this, as a scientific experiment of sorts
@@EwokBb You can't take wallet funds from market sales and convert them back into real money, so I don't think it'd be an easy conviction if someone tried to pursue him on criminal charges. As elmaxo said, it's pretty fundamentally different from manipulating the stock market. There doesn't seem to be any real legal precedent from what I could tell from a quick search and, at least in the US, it seems that virtual items like NFTs don't meet older legal definitions allowing them to be regulated by organizations like the SEC. Obviously it might be a bit different with him living in Australia, but I just don't think most judges would want to touch this case when digital items are still pretty up in the air.
you've blessed me, ive had over 40 strange lolichops from case unboxings from ages ago, and now ive been able to sell 24 of them at an average price of $3.50. So i guess if i ignore inflation from 2015... i profited?
It's actually kinda scary how much influence TF2 content creators have over the trading economy. Like, the fact that they can inflate the prices of items to several times what they were prior by complete accident feels like it should be a source of existential dread.
I actually ran into Lucy in MVM once. She was on medic, and needless to say she was running the vaccinator She carried it the mission hard, and helped me get my highest demo damage on empire that run :)
I had a lolichop when I started playing tf2, I don't remember how but I think someone gifted me the lolichop. I though it was cool and it looked different so I started using it. After a while I deleted it from my inventory because the lack of space and instead, I replace the slot with a volcanic fragment because when I was brand new I though it look cooler than the lolichop. And now I could have made a lots of profit. I regret it every single day since I deleted that lolichop from my inventory. Thanks, Elmaxo.
I haven't actively played TF2 in probably over 6-7 years, not even occasionally hopping on. Regardless, I have watched all of elmaxo's content as a means of nostalgia, and honestly, the content has been so refreshing and amazing. I look forward to every new upload and will sit thru the entire thing no matter the length or topic. The script is always well thought out and clever. The balance between humor and great narrative despite even the most silliest subjects for videos always has me entertained and in awe. Maxo's honestly rly talented and I'm sure he can be making videos about almost anything else and churning out just as great content, but it warms my heart to see his dedication to TF2 despite how much this game has aged. With that all said, my former 15 year old self thanks you, elmaxo, for bringing me back that feeling of absolute joy and fun I got from this game for a long time, even if I don't play it anymore. Keep up the astonishing work!
Among owning a Professional Killstreak Collectors Lollichop, I also own lots and lots of lollichops. Always collecting more. Why? Idk, I forgot a long time ago
Recently there has been a wave of steam market manipulation attempts, especially for Consumer grade CSGO weapon, this is pretty much equalent to an unique weapon in tf2. If you take a look at the AUG Storm minimal Wave, you can see that the price got incredibly inflated and still is (as of writing this). What I want to add is that loads of people that has been trying to sell the AUG on the steam market at this inflated price, has recieved community bans with the message "This account appears to have been used for fraudulent activity". This is most likely just temporary for most users who wanted to profit, but some can be permanent. TLDR: Pump prices all you want, but be careful if youre actually gonna try to take profit. You might get hit by steams automated anti fraud systems
I had 4 strange lollichops just sitting at my backpack for 6 months straight until I saw this video...needless to say I'll leave the rest to your imaginations
TF2 youtube back then: hey everyone its jerma, i'm going to casually talk about topics I enjoy while I show TF2 gameplay TF2 youtube now: borderline illegal market activities and challenges which, in a game about KILLING PEOPLE, somehow still feel like crossing the line in terms of ethics
You know, I will say if you do end up causing this to happen, you will be causing issues for anyone who may have been saving up for one of those items, particularly the collectors or a killstreak items.
From a utilitarian perspective, the community-wide hijinks and camaraderie that ensue from lollichop market manipulation probably outweighs the harm caused to the handful of individuals that would be both interested in collecting lollichops and hadn't already done so in the past 11 years since the item was added.
Thank you elmaxo for increasing the value of the Profesional killstreak lolichop kit so that the one I had sitting in my backpack for years was now worth selling.
Reminds me of when Soundsmith also broke the economy with his stereotypes series, he tripled the price of Soldier's Lone Survivor cosmetic after mentioning that it was probably one of the coolest Soldier cosmetics.
can i point out that at 9:29 elmaxo is standing like a foot taller than the woman, so either elmaxo is like, 1.9 meters tall, or that woman is like, 1.3 meters tall
I remember playing with my friends and i bought a strange Lollichop for 0.17 CENTS but sold it then for basically the same price since i never used it after, not conserving it after seeing the price makes me deeply regret the choices i do everytime.
I'm really glad I stockpiled these weapons. I caught the wave as the entire market was moving 1-3 weapons a day at $0.6 profit. I made a balling $2 per day
spiffing brit did something like this for a sticker (i think?) on steam search for: buying every cucumber on steam edit: link for the spiff vid ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u372HKrw5eA.html
