@red suffer Sniper skips leg days so it's understandable. You might be right about Spy. He has same speed as Medic but Medic has to wear a backpack plugging the medi gun.
@red suffer thing about spy is that he ain't in no hurry, and he is a spy, there supposed to be sneaky, not fast and athletic. Kinda same with sniper. Snipers are also to a extent supposed to be sneaky, plus sniper doesn't need to run, because he most of the time will not be in the battle zone. I personally think scout is simply faster than the others because he is athletic , also the reason he can double jump. Also scouts runs compared to sniper's and spy's semi-fast jog
@@SqwimpyTF You make a good point, but see... Engie oozes with Texas stereotypes. A Wild West Revolver is more in line for him. A Desert Eagle is more in line for soldier.
Short circuit: “‘Fuck you for playing classes good at fighting sentries.’” Wrangler: “‘Fuck you for playing classes.’” I didn’t want to spit out my drink laughing at something today, but I guess I did anyway.
@@society1876 65 metal out of 200 is a lot of resource for something u get very few(3) shots against a very specific ammo type (rockets)and requires lots of timing to work well and it's primary fire is 5 metal for not much damage and basically 0 range. metal is the most important resource for engineer
I think the reason why it doesn't have is that you can only have so much as to not dilute it. Like right now I don't think there's gonna be another Shotgun anytime soon
The amount of times I outplayed more powerful classes with the Pistol is hilarious, no one expects it and the confused reaction is part of the strategy.
I mean the pistol can do upwards of 140+ dmg a second. It's not a two tap shotgun, but it's still pretty gud. It's like a meh primary. Great secondary because of that
PBPP is like a better version of the clearers carbine, in the sense that they both serve as a midpoint between stock and the throwable liquid. It even compares in the same way as both options give you the effect of the liquid item, but it's passive, rather then being usable by anyone on the team. The main difference is that the carbine loses waaaay more damage then the pocket pistal does. And the effect of Jarate is so strong that it's hard to justify putting it behind any kind of barrer, even when it means you have something that shoots bullets.
also both only work for you, while this is fine with the mad milk mostly, your team benefits more from you coating a few guys on a point or payload with the piss jar than just giving yourself minicrits.
@@lilsunny7399 Similarly, the carbine doesn't lend itself to Sniper's long-range focus, while the pocket pistol suits scout's in-your-face style perfectly. Sniper's jarate lets him contribute to his team in mid-range conflict a ton by throwing the jar and then fucking off to snipe. Scout can do more work by himself with the pistol up close, at the minor cost of a non-support class losing a bit of team support.
@@zesnowpea6347 They don't have falloff but you contend with bullet spread to the point that it's simply not worth it, and regardless, ramp-up is still a thing on minicrits so it is still in your best interest to use them up close
Engineer: "I'll try it your way for once." Scout: "Remember what we used to say?" Spy: "Don't do it!" Engineer: *_"Dominated."_* | Scout: *_"Dominated!"_*
@@zzyxxyzz5442 "One should never fail" is the same as "One should always", so its saying "you should always underestimate the pistol's strength". "One should never underestimate" or "One should never fail to realize" would be simple fixes.
I love the pistols so much, to the extent that I'll miss my primary shots a ton, switch to the pistol, get 3 kills, and think, "Huh, I'm doing well with the pistol. If only there was some sort of... pistol primary." So anyways I have a Hale's Own Shortstop
"Remember - switching to your pistol is always faster than reloading" --Man who got shot in the head with a pistol And is always a reliable deterrent to a matador hungry spy
I mean they weren't wrong tho, they really were just following orders, even if those orders were kinda fucked up. And yes, I'm talking about both the wrangler engineers and the nazis
Fantastic video, showcasing just how great the pistol (and to a slightly less extent it’s sidegrades) are objectively the best for consistent damage output at midrange… But who needs that’s when you can get less consistent long range burst damage?! Cleaver Supremacy Forever!
*sidegrade (I'm saying that because I feel like everything else in the Scout or Engie's secondary slot is set up as their own thing, so in my opinion, the Pocket Pistol is the Stock Pistol's only sidegrade)
Well this was fucking amazing. Not only do we get the usual on-point analysis, the Devil May Cry theming complemented the aesthetic without getting in the way. And yes, the pistols are hella solid even in cases where alternatives like the Cleaver's damage burst or the Wrangler's fuck-your-push-ness would technically be more advantageous. I rank this video a big fat *S* . No cap, it may just be your best one to date.
My favorite part about the Pocket Pistol is negating afterburn when fighting Pyros, especially when they're using a weapon like the Scorch Shot, you can just chip em at mid range where they can't hit you and essentially invalidate afterburn.
I think it is a misnomer to call the pocket pistol overpowered. I 100% agree that it is the best pistol - but not by that much. It's only marginally better than stock (and worse in some scenarios) and the stock pistol is the baseline for secondary balance. Yes a scout using it will be slightly more effective than one using stock, but not enough to make scout unbalanced or unfair.
It’s basically power creep. It has better DPS in the short and long term and health on hit. It’s hard to complain about one item being marginally better than stock, but if more items were balanced like it people would start to notice.
@@TheTrueEvilSpud actually... the pbpp reloads 0.1 sec slower. Doesnt seem like much but it can matter a lot since u have to reload more often. In that regard the stock can be more consistent and can handle uberhealed enemys better, due to it doing more damage PER RELOAD. You just hit the kill threshhold more often. That said, u always have to consider maps and if u are using a 6 shot, or 2 shot primary. When there are more corners to reload until the enemy pops up at your screen, or many health packs get taken the pbpp is way better. If the game has more medics, the gun gets worse however.
Love the DMC influence. Played through the series recently just like you. Your editing and SFM work has gotten a lot better over time. Absolutely Smoking Sexy Style.
A RU-vidr needs to be more than just entertaining, they need to be clever and creative. Fish, you are without a doubt all of the above. A DMC edit for grading? Smoking Sexy Style!!!
the pistol has always been my favourite for playing engineer. it's just more fun. even if you're being more defensive, the personal independence that the perfectly reliable pistol gives you just feels great. and if you're playing more actively, the huge reserves of pistol ammo means you can happily use the widowmaker or the frontier justice even if you're not great with them. it really is a true workhorse
@@PyrrhaNikos115 as a medic main the Blutsauger may be objectively stronger than the pretty boy’s, but the opportunity cost is so so much higher. Crossbow fixes so many medic problems it’s insane. Meanwhile Scouts opportunity cost is barely anything.
@@Skullhawk13 Is it necessarily stronger? The Pocket Pistol is definitely a lot FASTER, I've noticed, and being hitscan it's also way more accurate All you need is the 9 rounds in the clip and you could easily melt a Medic or Demo
@@Skullhawk13 I also did say MINI-Blutsauger, meaning it isn’t going to be quite as good in terms of general use. That said, it’s still more than a viable pick for Scout’s secondary weapon if not for that Oppurtunity cost you mentioned. As Medic: if you’re using the Blutsauger, you’re not healing ANYONE else on your team and basically being as useful as an SMG sniper. Yeah, it’s good for a hairy situation when your team is all dead, but that’s it. But with the Pocket Pistol, it’s a secondary weapon that can be used in every single situation to great affect that still contributes to the team ON TOP of healing you, it just doesn’t have the oppurtunity to heal you as much as the Blutsauger in a single clip.
I’ve always wanted the engineer to get a revolver, maybe an equivalent of the winger with less combat potential but a speed boost on hit, or something with slower firing speed but better damage at range, to deal with people outside your sentry’s range when you can’t do chip damage with your primary. Engineer really just needs more secondaries in general.
Unironically I've used the winger so long and so consistently (it's been my universal secondary for like 6 years) it's hardwired into my brain, if I'm playing scout, I instinctually switch to secondary whenever I jump lol
I can’t count the amount of times pretty boy’s has saved me from being burnt to a crisp by a pyro, or blown to smithereens by a soldier, it’s crazy good for both damage and healing and you barely have that much of a hinderance with a reduced ammo size.
Engineer: "I try your way for once." Scout: "remember what we used to say" *smirk* Engineer: *smirk as well* Engineer/Scout: *put out pistol together and say* "Jackpot" *and shoot*
Bro I adore the DMC 3 aesthetic in this video, also for some reason using the engineer's pistol feels better than using the scout's, could be because as engineer you really don't have much to work with when you're running the rescue ranger and the jag lol, the pistol surprised me by how effective it was
That and the enormous ammo reserve eases the pressure of running out for more ammo, which the Scout has an easier time doing. (No, I'm not counting dispenser hoggers, those are noobs)
It’s finally here! I’ve been looking forward to this video as I *ADORE* pistols in video games. Truly an underrated option in some games. Also, because the video’s out, I won’t explode!
Pistols tend to be so dope. The Black Mesa Glock shown at the start, the many options in PAYDAY, the rifle-grade handguns in Borderlands 2, the wimpy but trusty universal sidearm in XCOM 2012, I love them all. Though I gotta say, ever since I tried the 9mm Autoloader in Ashes Afterglow, I've found my favourite handgun ever. Don't even need to upgrade it to the 3-round burst (which is another monster entirely) or at all for that matter, even if it's in the rusty ill-kept stock form it works great for spamming against thugs or finishing off a mutant once your shotgun is dry and melee is a bad idea.
Since the first time i tried the 2007 version of TF2, i've always loved the pistol You expect a semi auto pea shooter, but get a mini SMG with usable damage No need to spawn fire, no need to manually reload the minuscule clips I'd play a Valve game where you only have the pistol any time
The pocket pistol is perfectly fine man, if you simply MUST nerf it just nerf it's ammo reserve or something because as it currently stands sure it's fast and has regen but that faster fire rate has a mentality to spam it and burn out your ammo pool
I'm actually surprised that valve (back when they were giving actual updates and not just bug fixes) hasn't made a new pistol for engineer considering the fact that he's a texan and cowboys are know for their quick draws using pistols, most of whice are revolvers
I love scouts pistols because they're the perfect example of just good balance in tf2. You have the reliable stock pistol that shoots enemies at a steady pace, deals fine damage and requires good aim. There's the more tactical winger which lets the scout specialize in what their class is made for, jumping around like a lunatic and dodging everything. Then there's the pretty boy's pocket pistol which is made to inverse the power of the winger and help scout cover some weaknesses he has. All of these secondaries are perfect, the stock is good, the side-grades are good for adjusting your playstyle and they all are relatively simple compared to most other weapons. No other class really has this kind of balance in their alternative weapons, like how the shotgun is good on soldier period but the reserve shooter is just a better shotgun with a niche just to top it off, and then there's the panic attack which is all niche. It might be cause soldier is pretty powerful and is made to be a very general class with little weakness but little strength but there's not as much zen with it's picks as scout has.

It just hit me. THATS A PPK! No way in hell its carrying 12 bullets (i think), but that is SOO a Walter PPK. Funny how that didnt hit me till now given the alt skin for it is a LUGER. Edit: "its easy to justify the wrangler in these situations, just like the Nazis justified their crimes at the Nuremburg trials" OOOOO, now thats alot of damage.
I started this video by questioning the use of "Devil's Never Cry" and the DMC3 reference in the thumnail these questions lasted all of 2 minutes, I love the style of this vid!
I don‘t think a damage nerf will do well. The firing speed would be canceled out by it. If you really want to nerf it, reduce the ammo you carry (forcing to to make those shots count) or maybe something else that needs the Scout a bit (like less health from other sources)
A lower clip means Less Health per clip (HPC) And less damage. Since the Pretty Boy's Pocket Pistol Fires Faster, It means that the ammo in the clip Wold Fly out of the Gun so fast you wold find your selfe reloading contantaly. So, you Now have a Pistol Wich haves a smal clip and a fast firerate that makes It FEELS like the Quick bomb Launcher and has the damage potential of the Winger. Getting Less HPS (Health Per Second) From medics and Health packs or anything Else is a smart move. Just dont make It too Rash.
The pbpp is one of the few weapons i can think of that actually pairs well with the other weapons in it’s set. The bfb with the pocket pistol is super fun and surprisingly good
