People think Engies can save their own ass most of the time, but when there's a spy harassing him, he's got a problem. I had this happen once. A spy who was pretty good, using the deadringer, killing my tele entrance at spawn over and over again. And noone in the team was doing anything, while he was just hiding around spawn. I killed him most of the time, dominated him twice. But he didn't care about his life.

Engineer really is a class your entire team needs to watch out for, his sentry might not do much but it creates an invisible barrier the enemy team can't pass and just because the sentry is up. Area of Denial in engineer talk is crucial to keeping him alive. if you want to help an engy not matter what class you are listen to key phrases "spy sapping my: ", the engineer calling for spy, the engineer calling for help (usually because a demoman or soldier is attacking his buildings) or if you see an engineer breaking a sapper repeatedly in the killfeed. For Gawds sakes pay attention to the killfeed. engy has 5 things to pay attention to in a match: his sentry (5th), his teleporters (4th), his dispenser (3rd), his metal (2nd) and his life (1st). i've ranked all of these as importances. For me playing engineer i really don't give a crap about my sentry, even a level 3 because with a level 3 dispenser i can rebuild it in less than a minute. what does matter is if i lose my dispenser. no metal no sentry, no sentry no engineer, no engineer no teleporter, no teleporter no game. Sentry's get kills Dispensers save lives Teleporters win games.

Has anybody ever figured out how his teleporters were exploding? I don't remember this bug back then. I remember that a friendly Sandman ball could destroy teleporters, but I don't see a Sandman anywhere near Jerma.

This reminds me of a time when I was on Barn Blitz as Engineer, using the RR - I actually managed to get myn sentry up on the balcony above red team's spawn - Won the game ^^ I also wish I had recorded it so I could have sent it to NISLT, and maybe get something like "How to sentry-spawn-camp".

People just don't understand the struggles of playing as an Engineer. They don't know what trouble they are causing when they destroy your buildings. It's even more annoying when playing as a Combat Engie (Gunslinger). I build a Teleporter at spawn, so that my team can easily locate it and use it to get further, build an exit somewhere further and then start worrying about Mini-Sentries. Ten seconds later, some spawnkilling, Gibus wearing Spy prick destroys my Teleporter entrance. Now I have to get my ass back to the spawn to build it, just to find it destroyed again. I don't mind when they sap my exit, I can just build another one somwhere else, but I hate when they destroy my entrances because I have to crawl back to spawn instead of enjoying the battle. People moan about how skillless Engineers are, that their Sentries do all the work, but don't understand the pain in the ass when they destroy buildings. Also, people moan everytime I play with the Gunslinger, but little do they know how useful it is when playing offensive.

That's why you ask someone in your team to go pybro.

A good tip for engineer is to find a place that you can't get backstabbed, but are steal being healed by the dispenser

No one else in the comments seems to have answered why the teleporter exit exploded, so I will. The slope was detected as something a player could get stuck in, so it blew up to prevent whoever used it from getting stuck. The safeguard is oversensitive

This has got to be one of the best TF2 vids ever.

TF 2 needs a crappy wrench that sucks at repairing and upgrading, but increases the "Firing Rate" (By that I mean hitting with the wrench faster) so you still have a bit of a safe guard against sappers but lacking the speed to put up a sturdy defense in time.

i think the teleporter blows up when somebody tries to use it but the model cant fit in the space where the exit is

Frankly, I find Rescue Ranger, Southern Hospitality, and short circuit to be an excellent engineer load out. RR saves you metal by repairing through bolts, short circuit destroys explosives, and SH causes enemy to bleed on hit, which usually makes them run. RR can also be used to save sentry, if you have the metal

I feel that it's *way* too easy for Spy to destroy a sentry nest and everything an Engie works really hard to build.

When a tele is in a weird spot where the person teleporting is too big to fit, it explodes to prevent shenannigans from happening. It doesn't particularly help due to how easy it is to get stuck inside crap and that a lot of odd spots on a map tend to do that anyway.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and hoping on a different outcome.

Guile's theme went perfect with that little section where Jerma kicked that spy's ass.

True, in pubs and such it's nice to have people play the objective and all round play the team aspect of team fortress. Plus, in pubs you tend to see three engies or none and being able to help de-sap the six clumped up buildings you tend to get in pubs that the suicidal spy managed to sap is great. I'd like to see the home wrecker buffed in some way that it would be the defensive weapon for pyros to run, rather than running Axt/PJ all the time.

And this is why I rarely play Engie.

This is the reason I love pyro. I hate engineer because its the gambling boring class of standing being a machine while it kills for you. Chasing down a spy after destroying his zapper with the homewrecker. feels great.

At the end when people were destroying your buildings after you spawned, this happened to me , and I know how this feels

Its reasons like this why I never wanna play offensive Engie without a Gunslinger. You build everything up to level 3, and then you get 5 Spies shoving sappers up your ass or your team steamrolls and you're just sitting back at the 3rd point carrying a level 2 Sentry with a level 1 Dispenser and Teleporter you still would have had to carry. Which is why Engie is so good at spychecking in CTF, hardly anyone goes to the intel room unless the intel is stolen, so if anyone goes in there, 80% of the time, its a Spy.

Why do I have most hours on engineer?

So i love playing Spy and its my favorite class. And today i played Spy on BadWater and i have never been so pissed. Its been about 4-7 days since i last played and every fucking person seemed to know i was a Spy. I generally get 3-5 backstabs before i die but no. EVERY one just kept on killing me, got so pissed i wanted to throw my pc at my wall....

The strangest things happened to me after a day I watched this video.I on barnblitz and played red engi.And I was getting bullied by the same spy and I raged.And I also found a spy-cicle like Jerma.What are the odds.

Jerma's usually not my favorite because he's kind of over aggressive, but I was laughing way too hard at this Especially when he lost it while he was trying to build a sentry in the bushes

I hate when someone says Engineer takes no Skill? Like is that some kind of sick joke? You have to take care of yourself and a ton of machines, when a Spy will just NON STOP ATTACK YOU, god, people probably just rage because they got killed by one.

Whenever I play engineer (albeit rarely), there are never any homewrecker pyros on my team. However, whenever I play spy and would have sapped the 4x sentry nest defending the last point of badwater/dustbowl/barnblitz/gorge/name your favorite "push into a teensy tiny room with only two narrow chokepoint entrances", there's always at least two homewrecker pybros happily smashing away.

I'll give you that in sixes, and even in highlander where there's a spy guaranteed to be on the opposing team, the axtinguisher is a much better choice than the homewrecker, but on a pub setting where there's probably a few spies on the enemy team it can be beneficial to have the homewrecker.

This video is the nightmare every engi doesn't want to come true.

Whenever a teleporter detects that a teleported player will be stuck when they teleport, the exit is automatically destroyed.

The reason he found a spycicle is that it was the one he was stabbed with, and he just pulled it out of his back on respawning. :D

How about this for an idea? If you're killed by a weapon, you're more likely to find that weapon when you die. It would work better if the TF2 drop system actually worked on death rather than just forcing you to take the items on death, but I think we can get Valve to change it for Jerma's sake.
