A few drops of coconut extract (for coconut water)

Lolol - that's okay - you're loosening up the sides so it easily comes out of the pan. So "Agar" powder is unflavored gelatin - that's what we call it in the USA. Thank you for showing the bag of Agar powder - as the bag reads, unflavored gelatin. Never knew what Agar powder was but have baked with unflavored gelatin - mixed with cream cheese and chocolate pudding for a pie. Coconut jello is making my mouth WATER ! Thank you 🥰

Agar agar is not unflavoured gelatin commonly found at supermarkets. Agar agar is vegan and does not give the same texture as gelatin which is usually from pork. For instance Jello is made from gelatin.

If one doesn't want animal products, then Agar Agar is the way to go...It's from a seaweed, i think, instead of animal cartilage....🍓

Sawadee krup, Siri. Thank you for the recipe, it's the best Thai coconut jello recipe I've found yet. I'm going to do it this weekend, the weather (Chiang Rai) is certainly crying out for a nice, cool dessert! I'd like to pass on a hack for viewers who might be diabetic or don't want to use sugar. I use a 50/50 mixture of granular xylitol and erythritol...this gives a perfect sugar texture (measure and use the same as sugar), and the blend eliminates any aftertaste. It's perfect for cooking and baking, especially in those instances where liquid sugar replacements would not work. ขอบคุณมาก

You explained it so well . This is my favorite dessert! I always have it at one particular restaurant where they do one more thing which is too my favourite thing. . They make it so flavorful and attractive by presenting it in a lil bit very lil of coconut milk which is mixed with pandan flavor and butterfly pea color from.the flowers it is super amazing in taste, presentation, flavour , color Do try it . Pandan leaves give such a wonderful flavour .amd the butterfly pea color so pleasant .

I’ve tired a few recipes on YT but they weren’t that good. Your recipe by far is the BEST! I followed your recipe to a tee. Voila… three hours later, I’m sitting in front of my TV, eating this jello and watching Ahsoka Tano !! Thanks 🙏🏻 so much. P.S. don’t worry about certain words you don’t know because we, Americans don’t know either hahahahaha. By the way, we add salt in many desserts because salt enhances the flavor of other ingredients, or it perks up the depth and complexity of other flavors as the ingredients meld. I forgot to let you know that I used Harmless coconut water brand so, I reduced sugar to 3/4 cup. 👍

You explained the salt perfectly. In American desserts we do this as well. Salt heightens the taste of the sugar actually.

I love coconut jello and will definitely give your method a try. I tried Hot Thai Kitchen’s method and I love it but you have to take two steps to make each layer and if you do it wrong, the coconut part won’t stick to the coconut water layer. Will definitely give this a try bc summer is here and nice cold coconut jello will be refreshing.

This is just what I have been looking for. I have been eating a very large amount of JELLO the old kind cause I am unable to eat lately, but this would seem far better for me than Jello brand product. I have used Agar before & Didn't like the texture of it but in recent times prefer this texture over the old Jello & its plant based Not an animal by product. I am not vegan but I dont always want meat or its by products so this recipe is perfect for me. I wont use cane sugar, instead I will use Honey as always cause I trust it & I get it RAW Unpasteurized. Thank you for this recipe & tutorial.

Tq Siri. Coconut🥥 jelly is definitely delicious. One of my family's favourite desert but I like to add a few drops of red colour to my jelly for presentation🙂 And the pinch of salt is compulsory to enhance the creaminest of the coconut.💕

Thank you for explaining it. I been making this for a while, it came out great but then after a while it won’t separate into two layers. I didn’t know what I did wrong. Now I know because I let my coconut boil to long.

Let the bottom layer gets hardened. Then do the coconut milk one

@@Mir4711 yes I tried doing that way too. Either to soft or sometimes it doesn’t stick when I go cut it separate into two layers. I need more practice with that but in the past I do it her way it used to solidify but now it doesn’t 🤷🏻‍♀️😢

You are so pretty, & so sweet. Love your cute accent. & of course great recipe wonderful teaching technice, & lovely chef! The wavy cutter is for stability. In England, brick walls are built wavy, in olden days, because used less bricks, & way more stable, then reinforced brick. A physics thing.
