You don't have to be afraid for the variegation. The Thai Constellation has a genetic variegation based on transposons (jumping genes) these are elements that jump into genes that disrupt the chlorophyl production. This is unlike the albo that has white and green cells that are competing with each other (chimerical). The white or green in the Thai is just random so if the whole leaf is white the green can easly come back if the transposons jump out again.
I know the variegation is different, but that doesn't mean the white leaves won't brown up and look very sad. If I sell plants I want them to look happy and healthy
Yay 👏 finally update are included . Not waiting and lost in other posts. Good job girl. You making me want to chop my Thai Constellation that's a slow grower. May be chopping it may grow faster .
I have only made propagation videos with updates since I can remember! Very early on I got frustrated watching others' videos and not seeing any updates haha
WOW!!! I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! So much! I look forward to all of your planty content! Oh my! Your Thai Constellation is INCREDIBLE!! I have been so scared to chop mine but once Spring rolls around, I’m doing it! Yours turned out so well! Change is good! Helps us grow! Thanks for sharing!! Show us more Growth Updates! Plant Propagation Updates! Updated Plant Tour!
Hi Roos, great video as always, loved it! I have seen so many propagation videos , but none were as thorough as yours as to show step by step all the stages involved. I have a Thai constellation but still young and is not growing as big as yours. I kept it in Leca since it rotted in soil, but hoping it will grow bigger this summer. Thanks for sharing this video and yes I am 100% fan of these type of videos. Thanks for sharing and have a happy and healthy New year!
You have the most beautiful and awesome MTC that I have ever seen on RU-vid. The variegations are fantastic and rare. The other MTC paled against yours. Haha
I can't stop watching your channel. I'd love to know more about plant events or so in Europe so I could attend, maybe even join you for a shopping haul hehe.
Fantastic video with super cool updates. Just bought a three leaf cutting - can’t wait for the leaves to fenestrate. Ceylon cinnamon will get rid of the fungus gnats. Just place a thin layer on top of the soil. 🥰
Amazing! Fingers crossed for you. And i use nematodes and catch plates for the fungus gnats - real cinnamon that has antifungal and bacterial ingredients is almost impossible to find here. The stuff from the supermarket is not it at all. So I prefer to use something specifically created for the problem 👌🏻❤️
@@plantwithroos Ceylon cinnamon is available on Amazon and is not expensive on the wallet. I’m in the UK so the nematodes aren’t readily available. Haven’t used the sticky traps because I don’t like the idea of seeing them at all lol . Look forward to your next video. 🥰🥳😃🙃😁
Thanks for this. I purchased a Thai wet stick. It had no roots, placed it in perlite now I have ton of roots. Just waiting for my first steam and leaf.
Wow soooo cool! I love these type of videos - the time and effort you have to put into it to make it.. Thanks for filming the whole process! I really hope I can get my hands on one of your so beautifully variegated monsteras in spring hehehee :DD
Hi there, I’ve been watching your channel a while now thank you for sharing this video, just wondering how much did you sell your Thai constellation and will post to uk? Thanks in advance
Hello! Unfortunately due to brexit I cannot ship to the UK. I don't remember exactly as it was a while ago plus it was blind auction. I think it was around 150?
@@plantwithroos i was close 😅 not. Lol! I actually found your videos because I have an Alocasia Cuprea Red Secret. I wish I could send you a picture, I have mine outside and the sun made a hole in it. I messed up. I feel like maybe I should bring it inside. It's in the shade outside now. It has a new leaf on it, so I'm doing something right, except for that sun hole.
Hi Roos! This was a great video and I love both the method instruction as well as the progress reports. I just got my first Thai Constellation finally. I Got a very large top cutting, only 2 leaves, but they are HUGE and fenestrated, first and secondary holes too. The next leaf has not emerged, but the outer cataphil, very highly variegated...I paid $400 USD, do you think that's a good price? Anyway, she's with me and I love her dearly, I know she will develop into a beauty!
That's so nice to hear thank you. And so exciting!! I hope she grows well for you. Don't worry about the white cataphyll, just wait till you see what's inside. And even with a lot of white they can still grow well (just like mine). I don't know anything about prices in other countries - or even in my own haha
Thank you! I have a video about my soil mix, always use the same. And I don't think I've fertilised these yet, maybe once? I do regularly in the growing season
Hi, can we get update on them? Love the halfmoon variegation😍 How often do they get new leaf? Can you please make a video where you tell us ur care tips for monstera thai plz.
Hello, thank you. Me too! My thai is finally growing a new leaf right now, the last one came out 8 months (!!!) ago so it is very very slow since propagating it. The other ones I sold so I can't show you another update, but I heard from the buyers that they're doing really well. I'll see about a care video! thank you
I have a delisiosa that is too leggy so I plan on cutting up. I am afraid though because I don't want the big pretty leaves to go back to juveniles size. Should this be a fear or should I even chop it?
Yes they will go back to small leaves first. Check my propagation videos with updates, you'll see. They can size back up quicker as they came from a thicker stem. Up to you what to do, but I like it!
My Thai is a bit bigger than your original mama & im TERRIFIED to cut her!!! She’s getting so big, I should but I’ve heard the cutting can just die out of nowhere with Thais. I’d love to be able to cut her & share the love lol. Your cuttings came out beautiful!!!!!
That's so cool! Yeah I've heard a lot of stories of all the cuttings rotting, also in the comments of this video 🤭😅 so maybe I should make a video with more the care information, how I water and how much light etc
They're packets of good bugs, they help me prevent and treat bad bugs. If you're in the Netherlands you can buy them from Entocare.nl. If not, check for Koppert, that's the brand of these baggies and they are sold on different continents too
Thanks I just finished to watch your soil mix as you were referring to a video for that so I will keep watching. How long have you been in the plants word for? I'm really curious about everything
If you search any questions and add 'plant with Roos' that should help you find them. I can't look up the exact video for every question, that would be a separate fulltime job.
Can you tell us a bit about how you water/fertilize these propagations? I’m very scared of propagating because most of the videos I see here on RU-vid turn to rot very easily (of Thai or albo monstera)! Also, Thai constellation variegation works differently from albo monstera, so it shouldn’t be a problem selling it :) Thank you so much!!!
They were already rooted so I cared for them the same as my other plants. Mostly I give mine a lot of light. From the comments I see that rot is very common with these. And i know variegation is different but I still wanna sell happy healthy plants and those white leaves are easy to brown.
They're slowly coming down in price here, I saw some at a garden center yesterday for 70€, I heard in the USA they're much cheaper even. I remember when I saw them at the garden center for €30 (beginning of 2020) and thought that was too expensive 😩 hopefully you'll find an affordable one! ❤️
I cut today mind in one i make them 3 i plants in the same pots same like you have roots so hopolly it grow my monstera delisiosa i do the same i cut them in plants them my thai c, like you i cut i hope i done the right thing yours look good
You can see it in my latest house plant tour video for now - I will make an update on the monstera soon! ❤️ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QesdhqIK3vY.html
I'm filming a full Monstera update video soon but I sold the little ones and the big one is doing so good! You can see it in this short: ru-vid.comaDremwwAdtU?feature=share
