Today I finally got round to getting my Thai Drivers Licence sorted out!
I was issued with a temporary 2 year licence, which I can then renew for 5 year licences.
I go through what the process was like for me up here in Phetchabun and how easy it turned out to be!

Could you have had the Elite Visa staff in BKK get you a license? It would mean taking a trip down there but at least not have the hassle over all the paperwork.

Could have done, but I think I would have had to still go with them to the license office in Bangkok because of needing to do things like the color vision test....

Very helpful VDO, Thanks! One question though: How went the process of getting your certificate of Residence, e.g. did you also need to make an online appointment? What documents did you need for getting this certificate (e.g. passport, completed forms, passport photo, lease contract, other...). How long did the proces take? Thanks a lot!

Residence certificate is one of the more easy ones... for me I just turned up at Phetchabun immigration office with passport and copies of photo page, stamp page, visa page, TM6, TM30 receipt, rental agreement & 2 passport photos... Can't remember how much I paid (around 300/500 it varys from office to office I think) Handed everything over and got the certificate within 10 minutes...

To not do the full testing is great I want to get my international motor bike licence transfered to Thai licence how far is your province from Pattaya.

You are very lucky you didnt have to watch the 5 hours of videos. If you have a international licence its a lot easier, I had to start from the beginning.

Ouch.... the 45 minute video online was painful enough... hope the renewal process is hassle free!

@@geoventure1012 Yes that was easy, just had to do those few tests you spoke about, it might change in the future as we all know it can, but it was no problem.

@@justinthaim8879 For the motorbike one, you have to drive around a small course, but it was very easy, that was in Bangkok where I did mine. When you change from the 2 year to the 5 year there were no practicals.

As I will be back in Feb when restrictions are over staying for 9 weeks like I do but want the Thai licence.I will be going through a agency who do all the paperwork for me and take me to the office

Why were you not issued a standard 5 year driving licence?

Its just a 2 year license to start with when converting a IDL... then can renew for the 5 year licenses after that... or so I'm told!

Nah this was just for car, motorbike is separate.... think I'd have to do a days learning and a test on a bike for that since I don't have a bike licence from the UK...
