I only eat the lumpia and pair it with the sauce made by jollibee lol. Home-made tastes so bad for me and is most of the time made up of vegetables which is a major *No* when you're eating lumpia for me.
@@jesinagax3337 That all depends on the profile you like. However, if you want that profile, there are many dishes in the Philippines that are similar as well.
moms cooking lumpia: *"i have the best lumpia"* *"no i have better lumpia"* dads cooking lechons in the corner: *"bruh your letchon tastes good"* *"you too bruh that pepper made it better"*
Lumpia is available in every China town! In Thailand this is not a big deal. Filipinos imported Sweet Chili Sauce from Thailand because Thai Spring Rolls beat the over rated Lumpia of Philippines.
Loved for mangoes and same with sticky rice as well.philippines has a lot of varieties of sticky rice delecacies to choose from different provinces and regions
I'm from the visayas (iloilo) and we do eat our sticky rice (ibos) with ripe mangoes or sugar if it's not mango season. Also sometimes if tablea is available we dip it in native sweet hot cocoa. Update as of Dec2019. I already tasted Thailand's mangoes and sticky rice with the sauce made from coconut milk. It tastes really good. It has a hint of salt mixed with the sweet. I love it.
In Thailand they have also lupia but it’s called differently and it has a different filling but it’s overall also a spring roll. (I hope I didn’t offend anyone.)
@@eduardochavacano we’re not that poor but when it comes to lumpia we’re going to kill hahahaha dont expect that its just slums who act like that. Just because person is rich doesn’t make them better, fix your mindset bro
true, that's why we have a lot of spanish words in our dialect here in PH, and actually some regions have their dialect that almost has 60-70% spanish, well. of course, because of colonization.
@@MalickFortnite we are not claiming any race sister, we are talking about language being adapted from our country's colonizer which lasted for 300 years. Get it?

Analogy is wrong as lumpiang shanghai wasn't a result of bringing foreign dishes back, it's a result of visiting foreigners bringing their dishes to the country. The more accurate analofy is it's like your cousin was raised by adoptive Spanish parents, and growing up had a lot of Chinese visitors, then his parents left him and for a short while he had American and Japanese babysitters before living on his own. :)
Natalia Jacinto did i really hit your soft part that bad? lol i meant the Filipino style of spaghetti. I was just implying that it is pretty common for a Filipino party to have those type of dishes even spaghetti.
kaya nga eh! she proudly kept on mentioning "water chestnut... water chestnut... water chestnut" as if she is very sure that it is a typical ingredient of lumpiang shanghai.
Their sticky rice looks like porridge. I think the type of rice that they used is one of those rice that we eat during lunch or dinner while we use different kind for suman (we call it "malagkit" here in our province).
Yeah, so I wonder why they're not compare that to Thai sticky rice, it more make sense 🤔 Seem like this is an english speaking chanel and it just the game of business to get more sub.
I realize that the title should gramatically read as: "Thailand vs Philippines: Which has BETTER comfort food?" ..."Best" is only used in comparisons between three things.
Thiis isn't a battle of sticky rice. This is a battle of comfort food. Philippines sticky rice deserts are not as common as lumpia Likewise to Thailand's version of a spring roll is not as common as their sticky rice.
@@johnadams2409 exactly..I'm filipino and though I ate mangoes and sticky rice..never thought putting them together is a thing. Sure you ought to do it if its there but it's not a "thing" compared to Thailand. BUT lumpia...i devour a plate of it everytime
@@kristinemedina2839 now, I know that Lumpia is the best food Phn. It's ok Thailand has so much more food and desert that very famous among the world. But they just choose the best food of Ph to compare with common Thai desert 😁
Eduardo Viajero but it's true tho. I've been to so many parties as a Filipino AND THERE IS ALWAYS PANCIT OR SPAGHETTI AND SHANGHAI (but hey I ain't complaining they noice)
ข้าวเหนียวมะม่วง!!! Love Thailand, from the Philippines. ❤️ P.S. We say, “Maligayang Bati” for congratulations. Or just simply, “Congrats!” 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 ยินดีด้วย เมืองไทย 🇹🇭
Prisji Pinnses it tastes totally different. Im a filipino living in Bangkok. Lumpiang Shanghai is totally different from thai spring rolls. But I must say I love mango sticky rice. ❤️
In the Philippines, we also have sticky rice and mangoes. We call it Puto Maya (or simply puto). It can be eaten alone but it’s best when paired with mangoes and brown sugar.
Thai guy: How do you say hello in Filipino? Filipina: Kumusta, it's a little bit spanish because of..... Colonization. Thai guy: *laughs in Can't relate*
Nahn Srimanta No one in the Philippines would claim that we are Latinos..Let me repeat, No one!!! What made u think we want to be latinos? We have our own identity...
Nahn Srimanta I was talking about the Filipinos in the Philippines not those filipino americans who are hAving indentity confusion. We never claimed to be latinos. We are proud to be southeast asians. The comparisons I’ve seen in some latino and filipino videos are justthe similarities in culture because wether u admit it or not latin america and philippines were colonized and influenced by Spain hence the similarities.
I think a lot of thai want to go in the Philippines, Philippines is the best country in the world to search and watch a reaction in the PH! i have a question , Philippines are very famous in Thailand?? because thai is also famous in PH
@@mikhailiversonmanalo6746 To be honest, Philippines is not famous in Thailand. We know that you guys are good at English , you are famous about beauty pageant and your country is Catholic in Asean. But I have to say that Thai people , they know very little information about the Philippines. Most of the countries they want to go are in Europe. If Asia is Japan and Korea.
เป็นคนไทยจริงอ่ะ? Are you Thai? Really? Mary Ubaldo ...Ubaldo?? Ubaldo is Spanish given name which is also common last name of Filipinos. Most of us don't know Jollibee because we don't have it in our country ,I just found out what it is few years ago.I say this not because I'm prejudiced against the Philippines. Actually, your comment isn't bad at all. It might make Filipinos feel good about Thailand too. I just feel weird when I see foreigners pretending to be Thai and admiring their own country.
The other differences of a Lumpia from a Chinese Springroll are that the former has a dipping sauce, their fillings (Lumpia has tons vs Chinese veggies mostly) and the wrappers' textures (crispy vs doughy).
@@redfullmoon well you havent tried our suman at mangga here in Bulacan, different taste than thai mango sticky rice, we put langka and its syrup with pandan leaves in the condensed cocomilk. You should try it btw.haha
There's a dessert in indonesia called putu mayang which i think sounds similar. But it's not sticky rice and mango tho. It's made from rice flour paste shaped into like a funnel cake and we eat it with a coconut milk-palm sugar mixture. Somewhat similar to thai mango sticky rice with different preparation. Southeast asians should really throw a party together sometimes and we'll just have the best foods
Absolutely love Filipino food! I was in the Philippines last summer and the food was so fresh and so good. Tried a lot of street food which was an experience and would totally try the Balut again ✌️

And when you stage for Phn to win the Channel get more sub! Oviously. Ph also have their ver. Of sticky rice desert though. But see? They choose that Chinese spring roll?? Lol
Here in Cebu we usually pair 'Budbud'(glutinous rice wrapped in banana leaves) with mangoes or 'Puto' (the sticky rice kind) drizzled with muscovado sugar, soaked in sikwate (hot tablea/cocoa drink) paired along with mangoes. 🍙☕🥭
Both the Philippines and Thailand have versions of the food in this video. Thai spring rolls and Philippine mango sticky rice with chocolate. C'mon research people. Why buzzfeed? Both are southeast asian countries which share a lot of things in common. Another fact, Tagalog is one of the languages used in the Philippines and generally the basis for Filipino, one of the official languages of the country. English is the other official language. Other unofficial languages include Ilocano for Northern Luzon people; Bisaya (Cebuano is a dialect since it is a version of Bisaya/Visayan language spoken by people in Cebu. The visayan spoken by people in other islands is slightly different.) for Visayan people and a number of other languages like Pangasinense for province of Pangasinan, Tausug for Southern Mindanao people, and etc.
Filipino is the national language, which is based on the Tagalog dialect. English is the secondary national language. Ilocano and everything else are dialects, not languages.
@@symbian74 google that man! Filipino and English are the official languages. Filipino - to unite the so many languages in the country. English - language of the government, business and commerce. What is a dialect? Example: Tagalog is the language. Batangueno a version of Tagalog spoken by people from Batangas is a dialect. Another example, english is the language while American english or British english can be said to be dialects. Got that?
@@RM-uc4mf Thanks but no thanks. Araling Panlipunan is enough for me. Although I misspoke. Tagalog is the language spoken by residents of Luzon and once called the national language. However, it was changed to Filipino to be more representative of the Philippines.

Kind of annoy with her. That guy was very generous with her lumpia. It's true like the other viewer said why compare sweet with savory? He probably should of bough "pad thai" or coconut curry veggie or chicken.
Oh she is Ms. Macatangay,I first saw here when I watched “Following a High School’s schedule for 24 hours” she was the English teacher and she assigned “The Bff’s” to do Romeo and Juliet homework and when I heard her introducing her name by her last name I knew already she was a Filipino... Actually, sticky rice(soaked with coco milk and steam cook) sided with riped mango is also one of the delicacy in the visayan region part of the philippines it serves as a morning snack best serve with hot chocolate(sikwate) 😉😉😉 Edit: anyway spring rolls are almost everywhere ✌✌✌
Thai here but have to give it to Philippines. Lumpia looks so yummy, I like mango and sticky rice but can’t have it often cause it’s sweet. A savory and crispy snack with sweet chili sauce would be a great comfort food.
I also have doubts for first time eaters, eating mango and sticky rice (in coconut milk?) the stomach might not like it and off you go to the toilet. It's risky unless you have strong and healthy digestive capabilities.
