We felt truly blessed when Sangeetha Ratnakara Vidwan Guru Neyveli Santhanagopalan agreed to sing for Shyam and Kalaimamani Mridangam Maestro Vidwan Thiruvarur Bhaktavatsalam sir graced his presence and guided Shyam. The event was extra special with our Guest of honor, Kalaimamani Violin Maestro Vidwan Ganesh Rajagopalan. We are also fortunate for Vid. Sandhya Srinath’s melodious violin support to Neyveli sir. We are extremely thankful for Rajagopalan mama, head priest of HECSA Balaji Temple, Portland, Oregon for providing such an auspicious venue for Shyam’s first concert performance.

Incredible and outstanding performance by the mridangam player. Did he start practicing in his mother's womb itself????? Am sure he must have had great parenting and blessings of his gurus. Tempo variations are unbelievable. He's already playing like seasoned maestro. Nice to see all the elders in the group supporting and encouraging him. God bless him to grow in talent and stature in the days to come.

While watching him playing the korvais, Thisram, Misram, melkalam, koraippu and soll kattus, I was literally in tears of joy !!! Why ? At this age of 9, I had just started a year ago learning Mrudangam and used to tell my father that my hands are paining if I practice continuous for 10 mins and choose to remain silent for a while and then continue for another ten minutes and so on. GOD has been very generous and kind for this boy who will become a great legend sooner or later. But I had the luck of playing for concerts only at my 17th age. This Kutti Paiyyan has achieved it before he was ten !! Bravo !!! My heart full of blessings for this boy for a healthy happy and prosperous Musical journey and my appreciation for his parents and the Guru Who nurtured him to this extent and created a future icon in the world of Percussion. Tears of Pure Joy and Utter Satisfaction to see future generation children carry on the Traditional Karnatic Music on their shoulders so tactfully. It is a great gift to see Shyam Ravidath play the Mirudhangam sitting among Maestros in an actual concert on ArangEtram!! The Maestros themselves are flowing along with this Prodigy Child encourages him irrespective of the age platform!! Great to see the resurrection of our Traditional Music thru children and younger artists. I am grateful that his parents support him so much as to arrange his ArangEtram among accomplished Vidvaans, It itself is a great morale booster to this youngster. Dear Parents of Shyam, please guide him thru the phases of the Saadhagam matching his mental stamina so that the Early Peaking and Plateauing will never occur in this Baala Vidhvaan. It usually leads to Burn Out as I have seen many many kids evaporate in a couple of years unable to shoulder the immense stress that comes pouring in during their instant ascent to fame and demands. Due to over exposure, they discharge their Aanma Balam of Sustenance too early. Congratulations to you for nurturing your child on his Music Voyage.
