In which we take the good with the bad. I guarantee you our discussion at the end is far more entertaining than our reaction.

I don't think Shirou is dumb, he just has a nigh non-existent sense of self-preservation. The survivor's guilt piled with Kiritsugu's dream sort of made him like that.

-Who is the original Archer? EMIYA himself. In the 5th Grail War, Rin always ends up summoning EMIYA. The reason is the pendant Archer carries, which acts as a catalyst for the summoning. Since the Heroic Spirits exist outside time and space, there is no paradox. There is no loop The EMIYA timeline is similar to the Fate route though, that is true. The difference is that in the EMIYA timeline, Shirou was not able to save Saber´s heart and thus, they did not fell in love. Which in turn, made Shirou more stubborn in his quest to save people, eventually becoming a counter guardian. This does not happen in the Fate route, where Saber and Shirou fell in love, understand their problems and grew as people. In this timeline, Shirou has a goal besides becoming a hero of justice. So, he does not become a counter guaridan and eventually reaches Avalon and reunites with Saber. More details of this in the extended Fate route ending called Last Episode

Yeah at the very least nothing confirmes othervise......considering that in order to summon another heroic spirit she need's another catalyst but doesn't know about snake skin therefore thinks that Tokiomi left no catalyst for her after all....of course there is a hypothesus that at some timeline Archer wasn't carrying this pendant for the rest of his life and it didn't became a strong enough catalyst for his summoning and Rin simply summons someone who is closer to her in character but since everytime the same Archer is summoned i doubt that's the case....

@Joan-jq5ho
@Joan-jq5ho 17 дней назад
@@adam-dn3hi No, in a Q&A Nasu already told us that Archer's timeline is pretty identical to the one we follow in Fate, on his own words it has the conditions at the begining are identical, the difference is that "something was missing" and Shirou didnt save Artoria's heart, while he understood her, he wasnt able to save her, so they destroy the grail and part ways. Which would make it closest to Stay Night's route aka Saber Route. This is kinda backed up by Hollow Ataraxia where before dying to Artoria we see Archer's memory of the first time he meet Saber, when she was summoned, which is literally the same as Fate's. That wouldnt be posible had Rin not Summon Archer instead of Saber, which would still use her pendant, which still is the Catalyst to summon Emiya Archer and it is a infinite loop as the throne of heroes exists out of the time axis so there will be always a Archer Emiya.

I would like to say that failing to save Saber's heart did not necessarily mean they did not fall in love with each other. In Fate Shirou and Saber fell in love but her heart wasn't saved until she gave up her wish in the Church's Basement scene. Before that, despite loving Shirou, she pushed him away and rejected him. Who knew how they felt about each other. Also, the main difference between EMIYA's timeline and Fate timeline is something we don't actually know. According to Nasu, the starting conditions between EMIYA's timeline and the other routes were all similar except something was missing in EMIYA's timeline. We do know about a couple of other differences later in the timelines, too. EMIYA went through a similar experience as UBW Shirou with his circuits, considering he knew how to fix them. In other words, he didn't have his circuits opened by Rin like the Fate route Shirou did. Therefore, he went through his war while in constant agony, which may have well been the reason he couldn't convince Saber. Though, who really knows.

I think you misunderstand what Counter Guardians do. Their job isn't to prevent wars or conflicts, just to prevent the extinction of humanity (and also stopping people from reaching The Root). WW1 & WW2 were not threats big enough to warrant such an intervention due to the limitations of technology. WW1 & WW2 had no chance of destroying the Human Foundation, but WW3 does, due to nuclear armament. Culling humans isn't just allowed by the Counter Force, it is encouraged, as conflict begets progress. Without progress, the timeline is pruned, and Alaya cares only about humanity's survvival into the Age of Will. So war is considered good and necessary, but complete annihilation is not. We see an example of this in a hypothetical Heaven's Feel timeline, where a Beast version of Angra Mainyyu starts eating humans. The Counter Force doesn't respond until roughly 50% of the planet's humans are consumed, because before that, the losses are within acceptable parameters for survival. What *could* happen is a Holy Grail War (or other magical shenanigans) during WW2 risking humanity's extinction, and in that case, yes, a CG would be deployed during WW2 (which may be what's happening in Fate/Red Line atm).

If the first two world wars aren't enough to warrant a human extinction event then why is archer(as a counter guardian) shown popping up at relatively what seemed like smaller conflicts, how tf are kids with guns or small rebel groups going to the end mankind lol, Is that just a mistake on the anime adaptation part
@jkosch
@jkosch Месяц назад
@@tyforestreacts To me it was always clear (and you do mention that at one point) that in Project Mouthwash's version they imply that a World War 3 would end humanity. I am old, I was born during the Cold War, I have nuclear deterrence and a version of Einstein's quote "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought (at best) with sticks and stones" in my head. So unless specifically stated otherwise (e.g. in the worlds of Ghost in the Shell) I automatically associate WW3 with (near) human extinction. Also, to me the people the the UBW anime shows us Archer killing are mostly hired hands employed by Mages. Heck some of those guys do look like people from the anime exclusive Case Files of Lord El Melloi episode where Waver is dealing with a mage operation in Iraq (where Alexander had died).
@execrisiscoreonearth
@execrisiscoreonearth 26 дней назад
@@sulpherbratigh7936 the situations described/implied are usually ones that could snowball into human extinction, I think is the implication that project mouthwash is running with, at the very least. Ex would be "some kid with guns in a rebel group" managing to kill a person of significant emotional significance to someone that could, carelessly, end all of humanity with their misguided decisions... Some kid killing archduke Ferdinand McPutinTrumpingson the 3rd, during some fateful raid, for a heavier handed example. Let's say his grunkle is the current leader of amrusshina, or something, and decides "fuck it I'm pressing the nuke button" over the act of his nephewson dying randomly during a raid... It would be those types of events, the Ferdinand proxy events, that counter guardians are most likely nullifying from ever taking place. Ones where someone or something of great emotional value to those that may or may not hold too much power, may make a decision (such as erasing a city from the map, the main, principle, fear of all nuclear escalated conflicts after Hiroshima) that could *only* snowball into total annihilation. I think the fear most people are missing with this, is that there is a long held, unspoken fear that the next nucular tragedy on human life, regardless of whatever self serving justification the person pressing the button makes, will be the one that's starts an inevitable cascade of revenge trades that we will never come back from, as a species. From that point on, at best, it would only be a matter of time until a slew of self serving justifications to reciprocate that retaliation would take place. The Hiroshima incident had several (personally, flimsy) justifications and circumstances that took place, before full awareness of how long lasting the effect of the bombing could and would be. It's just important to note, cuz alot of people that don't comprehend the weight of another nuclear bombing, have complete and weakly restricted control to creating that "midnight" scenario yall have surely heard of before. My point here tho is, many believe we do not come back from that event taking place; it's just a bunch of fluff stopping nations from continuing down that path, after that point.
@execrisiscoreonearth
@execrisiscoreonearth 26 дней назад
Tldr, legitimately speaking here, I don't think everyone/the general public at large, fully comphrends the difference between regular missiles and nucular warfare/weapons of mass destruction. It's not so much about the act itself, it's usually more about the ramifications of what happens after that point.... Counter guardians would, theoretically, be stopping events that directly lead to decisions to use weapons of mass destruction, tldr. (edit: idk why my previous comment disappeared, but hopefully the tldr explains enough. It's about the collective decisions that take place after a "midnight" scenario.)

37:00 Saber does talk about lancelot in episode 2. She brings up that the last berserker was a knight of the roundtable and she seemed to not want it to be a repeat of that situation which she refers to as an emotional crisis. Thats more than she talks about Diarmuid and she only brings Kiritsugu up so much because hes the one that connects her and Shirou. Gilgamesh also brings up Lancelot by complementing him and basically saying he was better than Heracles so I don't understand how it disrespects him.
@tyforestreacts
@tyforestreacts Месяц назад
Yeah, I brought that up later on in the video. It’s just that her little thing with Lancelot isn’t brought up in a meaningful way. This highlights the difficulties of abridging a series as heavy as Fate: the darker moments are made light of and that’s not exactly ideal. I get Kiritsugu, but why Diarmuid? I guess, in context, her fight with him hits her heavily, but that’s because of what Kiritsugu did, and not necessarily Diarmuid himself. Lancelot hits closer to home for her than Diarmuid ever did. All of this to say, my best friend has a preference for Lancelot and he’s upset that he’s not brought up more.
@elmatador2139
@elmatador2139 Месяц назад
@@tyforestreacts She brings up what happened to Diarmuid right after finding out that Shirou is an Emiya so she was worried that he would do something similar to Kiritsugu. Considering the original barely touches upon the prequel (of course because it wasn't decided yet), I don't think the abridged really has to either outside of some jokes. And for the the thing about Fate being too dark for an abridged, on one hand I don't get it because of the fate/cero abridged which covered darker topics with far less tact but on the other hand they have teased doing a Heaven's feel abridged and I do wonder how they can keep this kind of tone going into that. Although, they did make Shinji being a necrophiliac funny so who knows.

The thing about Servants the entity rhey are summoned from exists outside if time and isnt affected by time. Once you get recorded as a heroic spirit you can appear at any point in time.

I kinda think it was implied that conflict ended humanity seeing as WW3 in popularly media (and maybe even actually real life) has human ended or severely reduced. Plus it fits archer character to use WW3 since he the guy who constantly uses WW2 references when talking about his life
