4 weeks postpartum and my periods (and fertility) come back like clockwork. Even while nursing full time and the baby not sleeping through the night. My husband and I have come to the conclusion that my body is a baby factory and wants nothing more than to repopulate the earth.
@@JEN-uh-fer depends on your body. Not every woman gets their period back right away and some get it back right away. I was breastfeeding my daughter and got it back after having my postpartum bleeding stopped.
My daughter was the same. I said breakthrough bleeding but nope full on period. I was shocked as mine never arrived until my babies were past 10 months of age.
I bled for 1.5 month after my c-section and 6 days later my period was there, which went awfully long. Severe stomach cramps, dizziness and hellish diarrhea. I pooped my pants while my child somehow managed to sleep in my arms and i couldn't move, although in terrible pain and shame. Those days i either avoided holding him for too long or was just feeding him because i feared i might drop him during those dizziness spell. 😂
Yours actually sounds a lot more like break through bleeding then a period. That or possibly that something was very wrong with your reproductive system. Some women will actually get cramps severe enough that it feels like contractions within the first 2 months after delivery. When that happens, it does cause really heavy bleeding and the pain can cause the dizziness. I had it after I gave birth to my youngest child, but mine started about 4 weeks after delivery. I initially thought it was my period, but the cramps were so much worse then I normally had with my period, so I went to the gyno and that’s what they told me was happening. It definitely sucked!
I bled for 3.5 months straight after I had my son. It was awful. I did get a period in the midst of it (trust me you can tell the difference) but the bleeding never stopped. Tried an iud for a month the bleeding got worse along with excruciating pain. Eventually I took the iud out and got back on the pills and a month after that I finally stopped bleeding. I believe I was 4 months PPD when I finally was able to stop wearing pads and liners.
I bled for 2.5 months after birth. At my 6 week checkup, my doctor said “oh you must have got your period because pp bleeding doesn’t last this long.” I knew it wasn’t my period. Like you said, you can tell the difference. After I stopped bleeding, I didn’t get my actual period for another 11 months. It was annoying that she acted like it was impossible to bleed for that long.
Me too. Bled for months and couldn't tell what was period and postpartum bleeding. It was consistent bleeding the first 3 months and then when it slowed a bit so I tried the iud which added pain plus i was still bleeding off and on all the time. Took it out a month or two after getting it. Still was having alot of extra bleeding till around when my daughter was 2 then it got slightly better again but still happens especially after intimacy. My daughter's 7 now. Got it checked when she was about 1 and they didn't find anything wrong but now the pain has gotten worse so guess I'm effed now?
I know people exclusively breastfeeding and they got it back after 2 months. I’m starting to get cramps at 5 months pp while breastfeeding and I’m nervous 😅😅
I was sooooooooo lucky. Didn't get my period for 6 months! I was so happy :') Doctor said it was because I was breastfeeding exclusively. No idea if that's what it was but I got almost a year and a half with no periods. Best time ever!
She was right...I heard that too❤ And Googled it out of curiosity, it says : *If you bottle feed or partially breastfeed your baby, you'll tend to start having periods sooner than if you exclusively breastfeed. If you choose to breastfeed exclusively, your first period may not return for several months*
@cuteyard what pads? Breastfeeding pads? Not at all! I think I was very lucky and blessed, I had 0 issues breastfeeding. It hurt once when I started, then someone corrected my form and it was smooth sailing. No chaffing, no blood, no cracks, nothing. I was very scared at first because of the many stories I've heard and read but I'm grateful for my experience (stressful as it was. Damn, I thought I would never sleep again. Or stop leaking)
Honestly I got mine 4 weeks postpartum 2 days away from getting tube removal surgery. I was like 9 months of pregnancy and i cant even get two months without my period coming
I got the first post pregnancy period 7 months after baby was born. It's the most painful periods I've ever had. It went back to what I normally deal with after about 6-7 months. I've been very lucky not having to experience too intense pain when on my period but let me tell you I really feel the ones who do after experiencing what I think it's just a small percentage of it. Sending strength to my fellow bleeding sisters❤
@@nancyu4099 it's not endometriosis just Dysmenorrhea. Which is debilitating for me when I'm not on bc. According to what my Dr said if the bc didn't help the pain then he would've checked for endometriosis but it did help the pain once we found the right meds.
@@nancyu4099 how did you find out? did you just not go to a gyno until age 33 or were you misdiagnosed for a long time? ( no judgement at all, I’m in a similar situation right now just looking for info and experience )
ohhhh....yknow ive always wondered how people get pregnant right away again, 2 under 2 is a lot and having a newborn while pregnant is rough. but this makes sense now 💀💀💀
Just a note: There is a period known lactation amenorrhea. This is the first 6 months after having a baby where a mother lactates, and no ovulation takes place. So as long as she can breastfeed, she won't get her period. But ofc it varies for every woman. 😊❤
Nope. It can happens and often happens for at least a few months… but every women and every pregnancy is different. My first… didn’t get period for a full year… third…. 4 months post partumn and I exclusively breast feed.
For me, the cramping during breastfeeding hurt far worse than the first period. They felt like contractions every time i let down or the baby started feeding and wouldnt stop until she was almost done. By the time my first period came around, i was so used to just... Always hurting, i barely noticed
@@gailjohnston9253 oh I know now after talking to the obgyn. It's just that no one told me to expect it so that first time felt extra rough. It's actually pretty cool that It happens 🤣
It took me a year to get my period back. It was quite enjoyable to not have to deal with them. I was happy once I got it though, because I don’t ovulate regularly and having a period at least makes it easier to know when, approximately, it will happen if it happens 😅
dyyyingggg😂😂😅😅.. omigosh what a purrfect song and jammies in all red too😅😅.. man, that flow just comes roaring back, huh? Not even hardly a moments peace!
Mine happened immediately after postpartum bleeding....there was no break.i thought I was in danger because my bleeding was lighter them bam! All the blood
I didn't stop bleeding for a month with any of mine. Constant flow for 30+ days. It finally stopped for about 10 days, started again. I always bled for 10 to 12 days each period from the time I was 12. But not a single doctor could tell me why I was anemic. 🙄
I was nursing and my cycle didn’t come back for quite a long time, I don’t remember exactly how long. But I remember enjoying that peaceful rest. I was told that nursing would delay its return and it definitely did for me.
Every time I see a video about periods, I can still relate obviously but I'm always so glad I haven't had to go through all that for so long. Breastfeeding and also pregnancy prevention are two different ways your period can stop without causing problems to your health. My IUD has kept my period away for a year now. Don't get an IUD just in hopes of your period stopping, though. It's not gaurenteed and I have spotted a few times. Mine is good for another 7 years.
Soon to be a first time Mama to twins in a few months and plan to EBF, so it's really interesting to read all these comments about periods. No one tells you about these things and the PP journey. Thanks dor sharing everyone!
I’m a petite 5’2 lady who had 9 and 10 lb babies. Pre pregnancy I had the worst cramps with my periods. Post pregnancy, I don’t even know it’s starting. I had heard that having babies helps with cramps and it’s true for me. Was even better after my second
First time around I got my period one week after I stopped nursing at 6 weeks. The second time I nursed for 2 years, got my period 9 months postpartum.
I didn’t stop bleeding from giving birth for at least 2 months non stop , with all 5 births , and the after pains got worse every single time , I don’t think we are told enough about after pains ❤
Due to nursing I didn’t get a period for 10months. I thought it was crazy and something was wrong. Apparently nursing can alter your cycle during the first year. No period for 10 months was GLORIOUS.
This is week 4 and after a rapid and easy recovery, my body is gearing up to give me the harshest period in years, starting today or tomorrow, despite still nursing all night long...
the day I had my hysterectomy was a blessing,i use to get soo sick..I'd be soo moody and cramps two wks out of the month, very heavy periods i had 33 fibroid tumors..looked pregnant all the time...take care of yourself..❤
I see a lot of people talking about the victims, and I give my condolences to all that lost people. But let’s talk about the people who do this, not the people who were affected, for a moment. I worked with a guy named Billy. He was really well liked, everyone always had good things to say about him, he was very friendly, loved talking to people, never judged anyone, and was always wearing this kind smile. However, one night, he was drinking on the beach with some of his friends, my coworkers. They wanted to head back to, idk I think they had an Airbnb or a hotel room or something and they wanted to go back so they played the game of “who’s the most sober” Billy ended up in the drivers seat. Hours later, Billy and his friends were arrested while paramedics fought hard to keep a 65 year old woman alive. They did not win that battle. And Billy was never again seen wearing that kind smile.
Like some others here breastfeeding through the night worked for me. I only got my cycle back at 12 months with my first because I night weaned her. Got pregnant 15 months pp and my second is almost 8 months now, still no period. People ask me why I still night feed and I’m not ashamed to say that losing 15-30 minutes of sleep every night is worth not having a period for a year to me 😅
I breastfed my first child until he was 3,5 years old and I was pregnant again, got my period back 8 months after birth. The little one is 4 months now, no period in sight, don't miss the cramps
