Poor Ann. Apparently a talented actress but none of her big breaks ever materialize. I love the "Don't touch the queen" line.

The coat from the previous episode? Morty Gunty x 3 - guess he used to be big? - as yet another agent. Commodore Decker! A Best Supporting Actress! That's a lot of rings. Don's had some nice, snarky lines since they got engaged. Dad's favorite card game.

I think she looks better with the bangs. She looks older without them

She looks better without the bangs

The bangs was not her own after the first season. She changed her hairstyle and the network made her wear a hair piece in front to have bangs.

She was older. Her hair without the bangs was in the last season - the 5th year.

Another engaging performance from William Windom.

I wonder if the author in this episode, played by William Windom, was kind of based on J. D. Salinger. Based on the recluse aspect...

Why are they sleeping in different apartments? They’re engaged. The devil’s in the details with this show. The first 4 seasons were pretty good. Season 5 was one disaster after another. But…deep down inside….even with the faux pas….ridiculous dialogue….contentious situations….I still love….wait for it…..That Girl

On TV whenever they answer the phone in the middle of the night, they always turn on the light. ALWAYS. Yeah, I know it is so the audience can see them, but it seems weird because no one would do that in real life.

Unless, you have a nightlight, you have to turn the light on.

@@bluecollarlit The last season sucked. The ingenue thing wore off. She acted as immature as the first season which didn't show the growth that would have been a normal progression. Politics entered into it, nope. Time to end it

Think about the plot of the whole show. Kind of boring really. Aspiring actress, never quite making it to stardom, dates a magazine columnist. This at a time when you got witches and genies living amongst us, not one but two hilariously evil families, people lost on an island and in space, and let's not forget BAP! WHAM! and BAM! at the same bat time on the same bat channel.

I agree that broadcast standards have seriously deteriorated since "That Girl." I'm in my 70's and watched the show regularly first run when I was in college. The way they danced around the no-sex issue was part of what made it amusing. However, unless they were particularly religious, the real life couples I knew like Ann and Don in those days were sexually involved. Avoiding the sexual angle was part of the TV broadcast standards of the time, but the idea that premarital sex wasn't happening then is a fantasy. It just wasn't plastered all over the media like it is now.
