I have waited so long to say it to Zenos, and they finally let me accept his challenge in full faith. It was everything I had ever hoped for. He picks apart the underlying mannerisms of the player, not the player character. It's so fourth-wall leaning in such a subtle way that you won't miss it but it's still completely obvious. We don't do this just to be heroes, being a hero is just the consequence of most MMO players doing what they do; we often do it just because we want to keep rising and becoming more powerful, challenging ourselves with more and more raid bosses and dungeons and anything else that dares step in our path. Zenos is our dark mirror; uncaring and disinterested in anything and everything plot related, seeking out only the mightiest of enemies only for challenge. Not for loot, not for fame, or grandeur, or recognition, but simply because he craves a challenge. He's not just the hardcore scene-skipping bleeding edge world-first tier raider, he's the top bracket PvP player, and all things that fall in-between. Cannot wait to play this again in NG+ when it drops.
after played that scene, came youtube and wrote directly "ffxiv that i can't deny." this expansion more like shadowbringers 6.0 instead endwalker and i love it!
My brother and I were finishing endwalker together, and I look over at his screen and witnessed Zenos going MGS4 with a literal child. Simply incredible
I’m very glad this was the ending Zenos got. My biggest fear for Endwalker was that Zenos would steal the last trial. Instead, he finally understands his “friend” and gets his one last battle.
