Oh man...I was on the edge of my seat! I was born and raised in H-town, Texas...father owned a nice machine shop and I grew up going out deep sea fishing with his clients...fired his salesman...said he made tons more taking customers out for a deep sea fishing trip, went out of Kemah/Galveston. over 100 miles to the oil rigs......we caught tons of snapper (my fav), shark, octopus,all kinds of fish...we also went each summer to Destin, Fl...it was a little fishing village back then...cabins on the beach, salt white sand that squeaked under your feet...crystal blue water and chest deep could see your feet...when I was 13...we went and got on a deep sea sail fishing ship...an experience I will never forget (I'm 68 now)...I caught a blue marlin bigger than me...my mom caught a sail...my dad caught a white marlin...he had my marlin mounted and it hung in his office...you must book a sail fishing trip....it is a lifetime memory! I love deep sea fishing...my hubby isn't..gets sea sick...he's pond and lake fishing...but my first marriage, we bought a beach house on Crystal Beach in Galveston...it was fun and our daughter grew up with friends we took for the weekend...brought back memories...loved it!

Jacobys Red Snapper was big! Red Snapper was one of my first fish I ever filleted. We own a Fish Market and Restaurant in New Jersey and I help my husband cut the fish sometimes. I actually really enjoy doing it! Houston your fish was cute, like you! Have a great Vacation in Florida, and be safe!!

I did a deep sea fishing trip with my Dad/brother/nephew once out in the gulf. It was about a 4 hour boat ride out to where we started fishing, but other than the guided lake fishing tour I took 3 years ago, it's the only time I've really caught fish. It was a LOT of fun. We all caught our limit on red snapper. One of these days, I'd like to do it again.

I live in SW Florida, on the coast. I know those afternoon thunderstorms all too well. They are killers, literally. Lighting shoots out 10 miles away and strikes people sitting in the bright sunlight. Locals know if you can hear it, it's time to leave and go inside. Smart move on the Captains part!

"Try to stay in the boat and quit running around." Reminded me of when I was a commercial salmon & albacore fisherman, I knew I had my sea legs when I could make it from the cabin to the back of the boat in 25 to 30 foot seas without spilling more than half of my cup of coffee.

What a fun trip. Makes me long for the beach and fishing. We had a trip planned for next month and due to a change in my husband's job had to cancel it. Maybe later or next year for sure. We lived in Pensacola for 3 months. Loved the area several really good restaurants my favorite is McGuire's Irish pub. We went on vacation the week of the 4th of July last year and went deep sea fishing the guys only got 6 fish in 6 hours. And we were in a smaller boat than what you were on. Seas was rough that day as well.

I'm from a commercial fishing family and lived at Goodland, FL and did a lot of fishing when I was growing up. We had smaller snappers down here that weren't red like that one but they sure tasted good. That was one big fish. The ones you threw back were the size we kept.

I grew up on the pacific coast. I lived 3 months on the ocean. There was a barge that ppl could get a ride to in the day to go fish. Me and my dad slept on that barge for 3 months. We came in a lot but mostly ye stayed out there. I caught a halibut that weighed 75.lbs. I also caught a spider crab that was as big as my head. Great memories of fishing as a child. Huston you are privileged to have proof of the fun. Love your girl Roxy (not the goat). Lol
