On May 31, 2015 The Nashville Public Library’s music series That Nashville Sound
presented Ralph Emery’s Nashville Now. In 1983 on The Nashville Network, Nashville Now aired its pilot episode from Opryland USA. Many would argue that the show changed the course of country music during its 10-year run, providing a platform that helped launch the careers of some of country music’s biggest stars. In the downtown Library main auditorium Nashville Now host and Country Music Hall of Fame® member Ralph Emery guided attendees through an afternoon of memories. Thanks to the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum, NPL was able to access the video vaults of the original broadcast. Mr. Emery was joined by guests who made regular appearances on the show including, Con Hunley, Ray Stevens, Lori Morgan, Barbara Mandrell, and puppeteer Steve Hall with Mr. Emery’s sidekick Shotgun Red.
