That Nashville Sound-Ralph Emery's Nashville Now 

I sure miss literally EVERYTHING about "Nashville Now". Watching this made me shed a few tears.

I am loving this.

I miss everything Ralph ever did. I will never forget early mornings with Ralph when I first moved to Nashville as a 21 year old. Great memories of these favorite people of Country Music.

Watching this in Jan 2022 shortly after Ralph Emery passed away. What a treat to see this recap memory. RIP Ralph Emery. Mr. Nashville.

Ralph Emory was the absolute best ever. He did more for Country Music than any other individual.

I just wanna thank Jerry for mentioning my father, Norm Ray, a very important part of the show from the beginning to the end. One of the best musicians on the planet. He would have been thrilled to be sitting there with the guys. I'm also very pleased he mentioned Terry Meade as well, one of my favorite in the world. I spent a lot of my childhood backstage on that show. I was there the night President Bush was there, shook hands with the soon to President Bill Clinton the night he was there. The show gave me the opportunity to meet so many incredible people over the years. Growing up with this show I never realized how special it was to be around all of this. As a child, heck, it was just my dad's job to me. I grew up and realized how very lucky I was and what a privilege it was to be a part of all that. Even I was part of the show performing sketches several times on live TV in front of millions of viewers and never thought much of it. But boy was it fun, and special. I wish I could go back in time and do it all over. I really miss that show and all those people. I'll cherish those memories forever

I loved Nashville Now, had no idea it was on in '83 but I did watch it in 92 and 93. Ralph Emery was a great host, loved Shotgun Red appearances. Very glad to see this, thank you Nashville Public Library!

I worked at TNN in the mid 90s. Gary mentioned the buildings are all gone now, when I came down for the Music City Bowl with University of Louisville, I wasn't prepared to see the vacant lot. We sure had fun there, made some great TV in the process.

The breakfast club started with my father and Chet Atkins, decades ago. I could not tell you exactly when, but as long as either of them were not on tour, Saturday Chet came to the house and picked up my father. (My father managed Jerry Reed, and Chet Atkins both, Reed until 1982 when he no longer wanted to be on the road anymore. And he was best friends with Chet since the mid 1960's, was not his manager until the last years of Chet's life, and at that was more so as a friend. I have some of the last guitars Chet signed before he passed away that he gave me as a gift. I remember when George Lindsey joined the group on Saturdays. (I never participated.) Ray has always been a dear family friend, was at my wedding, etc. Truly a great man of character. I was lucky in my life to have worked and performed with most of the country music legends of the 20th century, and television and come classic movie stars. And called them friend myself. I retired after 30 years and am now a factory automation specialist. Most of them said to me before they passed, "you have so many incredible talents, don't find yourself touring until the day you die." I thought a lot about the several that made similar comments and in the end came to that same conclusion. I did it, I enjoyed doing it, I made amazing money, and was a part backstage and onstage of what people only dream of. And that was enough to be able to let it go, although the first many years was not easy for me making the transition.

Listened to Ralph every Sunday when he had his radio talk show. Mom & Dad always had it on. He was a great interviewer who got a lot out of the Country stars then. There was mutual trust among them obviously. Hate it they ruined TNN, yet music has changed so much I doubt I would watch nowadays. BTW - I visited Opryland often and loved it, very sad it's all gone now....

RIP Ralph Emery..we'll love you forever!!

Thanks for uploading this!! I had been wondering if video of it would ever surface anywhere. It had been a couple months since I did a search for Ralph Emery or else I wouldn't have seen this video until later. I'm always doing on-line searches for anything about Ray Stevens, though, but his name isn't mentioned in the tag area of this video so I didn't discover this at the time it debuted on RU-vid.

Whoever it was that made the decision to change this show and put Boob and Boober in its place should have been fired. They RUINED that entire network.

Where can we find a particular archived show? Interested in one that aired in approx 1988 …had Randy Howard singing Ring Of Fire. It was his single that had just came out on Atlantic…
