agreed, but as he said it also is personal opinion. For me it was pretty meh. The only cool thing is bayonetta has finally release date. The rest was like, yeah sure, i make check it out or we already know this
Yeah, illumination do like to put some weird things in their movies, and an unnecessary amount of fart jokes Would have been better with other studios imo
I was disappointed when we weren't given any actual info for animal crossing but immediately perked up when you pointed out the fact it needs its own direct is a good thing! so glad to have experienced it live with you
And only thing that trailer spoiled is we're getting the coffee shop which was could work as a barista daily after you have 10 days of buying your own cup
@@ryanpurplenintendoeater9869 Think been in the museum more than seperate in previous games... only time I remember it being seperate is when K.K.'s concerts are there
paying a single time and then play as long and often you want V.S having to pay for a subscription every month to be able to play.. yeaahhh nah. keep your N64.
Am I the only person that actually liked the casting lineup for the Mario movie? Jack Black as Bowser and Seth Rogen as DK actually might be hilarious.
I’m disappointed that it will cost more to play N64 games, especially with how little content is already on Nintendo Online. Hopefully its not a high price jump
@@theflea9091 I mean it's $20 starting out. As someone who used to pay $50 on PSN just to play games period before I moved to PC I don't get the issue here if it's like a extra $10. I'd happily pay that to play Paper Mario again on the go.
@@kingcaesar3693 I agree with you. Look at what you get for the price. It's basically just you paying to use Nintendo servers (which have upkeep costs). And it costing a little more for further emulated systems with a bunch of new games makes sense to me. The people who complain about less than $2 a month for the online content never say well with me. Especially when they were complaining about the cost in relation to what you get from Xbox and PS4.
@@b222a5 Dude why'd you have to attack him like that. Team cherry might have wanted to space Silksong away from metroid dread in order to clash with it, for nintendo's sake honestly
@@khaledm.1476 I really don't understand why they would do that. Hollow Knight came out in a year of huge releases including the switch. So why, just because of Metroid Dread (a game i'm really exited for by the way), they would just push it back knowing how long the fans have been waiting. I don't think Nintendo has that much control in this. But even though that's likely not true I still think its coming early 2022. Edit: I really should have proof read this because i'm making too many edits.
There wasn't a ton for me in this Direct, but I still thing it was super solid. Got a RF5 release date, which is all I really wanted. Kirby game looks pretty cool. Lots of stuff to make lots of fans happy, which is always nice to see.
I was looking forward to a possible Rf5 release date. I know it was expecting a lot, but I'm sad they shoved it into the quick montage of brief acknowledgements. Still super happy we got a release date
Seriously surprised we aren't talking about Actraiser Renaissance. Actraiser was an amazing game back on the snes that was made by Enix if I remember correctly. The game was great, but I didn't see a remake coming. Totally surprised and excited.
@@ltb1345 I don’t think it’d be much of a surprise since they show off the game and THEN the release date. People might be expecting the game to come out during the current year
I was confused wondering why would Nintendo sell a part of a game for full price for a limited time if you are going to release the same game again. I know it was for Mario anniversary but still.
@@thejman2cool619 but that`s quite weird, imho, what if new players come to switch and want to play improved mario games, that would be a problem, so i think it had been a mistake they decided to make three mario games temporary, there is the hope that they could return them back, but i doubt so and to play games without improvements is not ok, i think extended nintendo online are for those who enough old that would like to come back to those time to enjoy the games that they had been playing, not for young auditory, for young auditory would be wiser to fulfill with remakes/ remasters.
Bayonetta is giving me younger vibes, the voice and she has the same hair design as Cereza from the first game. Perhaps Bayonetta influenced young Cereza and this is her older now in her world/timeline
I honestly am surprised with how much objectively good stuff they had, how little of it was something I wanted:P Also it’s been over 4 years since Mario, can we like, find out what Mario game is next? Odyssey 2? 2 d Mario?
Was very surprised Chris Pratt as Mario, sure he's done voice acting for almost 20 years but still wonder how he'll voice an them. Love Jack Black as Bowser, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong 🤘
Yeah, it's legit a very interesting and exciting cast all in all. Peer on NVC suggested they might do a Detective Pikachu kind of thing with the voice, where Mario sounds like Charles Martinet's Mario at the beginning but then something happens and we the audience then hear this other version of Mario by Chris Pratt without the zany over-the-top accent. I could see that. In any case, I really don't think Chris Pratt and Charlie Day are going to be doing Italian accents, I think they'll just be using their regular voices. That seems like the best way to go honestly.
@@friendlyneighborhoodspeedw6541 yeah same. I really don't like live actions of cartoons and game characters especially when the actors don't look to fit the characters but they're all good actors so I'm sure they'll all try their best and now I'm just a little curious as to how it'll play out
Point of contention: the Majora's Mask 3ds version is arguably not the better version Also I love that Triangle Strategy is the actual release title for that game
@@coolestto They changed a handful of things in the 3ds that didn't need it and these things are worse off because of it. The two examples that come to mind are Zora swimming and the boss attack patterns. Nerrel has a good video on MM3D if you want more info
@@coolestto If you're interested, I recommend watching Nerrel's video on the topic. Basically Aonuma doesn't look back at the game fondly because of the place he was in while making it, so the remake changed a lot of things that shouldn't have been changed. Example; they changed link's physics and broke his relationship with the environments, making some platforming areas incredibly difficult and others too easy. Edit: I just realised the person above said the exact same thing. Welp.
I didn’t get Tomodachi life 2 …. I never do… Miitopia got a revamp and I think that Tomodachi life should get something like this and the new miis are fantastic! Just beatem ups talk about miis
Just a few days before this Direct, I had officially resigned myself to the fact that I'd never get to play KOTOR... And then Nintendo just comes out and is like, "Oh, yeah, we're bringing KOTOR to Switch, don't worry 'bout it, it's no big D." And I'm just like, "I'm sorry, WHAT?!"
I'd personally wait for the remake if you have a PC, or PS5. Since it's gonna add back the cut content the original had missing. Hopefully 2 get's remade as well since I'd say at least 70% of that was cut.
When all that new Animal Crossing content arrives, we definitely need some more videos of Wood & Kim playing around with it. The handful of AC videos already on this channel are some of the funniest things Wood has ever done!
Haven't been seeing enough love for Voice of Cards; it's a Yoko Taro game (yes, the man behind Drakengard & Nier) on the Switch, with music composed by Keiichi Okabe (who has also worked on Drakengard & Nier) and amazing character design by Kimihiko Fujisaka (who also worked on, you guessed it, Drakengard). It's like Hand of Fate but turn-based, and the immersive tabletop elements are just amazing for a D&D player like myself! There's a free demo on the eShop and I wholeheartedly encourage to try it out, you won't want to sleep on this!
Man, I've gotten everything Yoko has done, even NieR Reincarnation, and I hate mobile games, but idk. This one just isn't doing it for me. Glad to see others are loving it, though
Voice of Cards was definitely the highlight for me. Played the demo and man I had a blast with it. I’d love to play it on a rainy day and get all cozy with a cup of tea.
Hi! I just wanted to say I really love your content and binge your videos frequently. You have quickly become my favorite creator on this platform! Thank you for all your awesome tips and reviews and funny content!
The only real benefit to the Switch online sub, is access to a small selection of retro games (oh, and they lift the paywall so you can play p2p multiplayer games with friends, with lots of lag, and ludicrous restrictions). Now, they add two long overdue addition to said collection of old retro games, but they want you to pay more for the sub? That is definitely not amazing, but it is hilarious.
Especially when other services have several monthly releases of much higher cost titles, and PS5 has the PS Plus collection of several much more expensive titles. Those libraries of old games would be worth $20 each, sure. But not worth any monthly price bump or paywall.
@@edgeofsins I agree and too am disappointed by the lack of games. Nintendo should have at minimum added two reasonably popular NES and SNES games monthly instead of the shovelware they have been dumping every two or three months. That said, I would gladly pay the same price as PlayStation Plus ($60/year) if Nintendo committed to the following; 1-2 releases a month for each retro console. Additional retro consoles biannually with 6-8 games at launch. Lastly, one free newer game a month which they could do one of two ways. Either pick any Eshop game under a certain price point, say $20, or they could throw up five to ten games each month and people could pick one for free then the remaining games could go on sale for the rest of the month as an added membership benefit.
Ehh.. it wasn't an amazing direct for me, but it was pretty good. I'm excited to see more about the Kirby game, and I'm also excited for Triangle Strategy (I love TRPGs). We've already seen a ton of Dread, so nothing new there, and I've already pre-ordered it, cuz I'm a huge Metroid fan. The Actraiser game looks fun too. I also gotta get back into Monster Hunter It's awesome to see the N64 here, that's for sure, though most N64 games I'd play I've already played when I was younger 😅 Hope younger fans get to have fun there though.
I jumped up like crazy when Kirby was shown, n64 AND GENESIS! Boyonetta 3, Splatoon 3 and Metroid Dread! Also updates for Mario Golf, Smash soon, Animal crossing soon, Mario superstars news looks incredible and can’t wait at all for more monster Hunter rise
AWESOME DIRECT! I was cheering! This absolutely reignited my interest in the Switch, I was worried we weren't going to be seeing anything good for a while but it's back baby I am so excited!
My favorite part about the live stream was the two announcements after the Mario Movie where you literally couldn't focus on anything except Chris Pratt
Kirby is so cool! But back to Beyo, she has her baby hair and she has a Japanese influenced fit(not a lot but still), and her demons are no longer bound by hair! She’s so op now 😭I’m so hyped!
Spread some love to dying light! It's still just a port, but it's a great game with all dlc and content (and there's a lot) with online coop! It's amazing.
@UnjustifiedRecs yeah, its 30 fps on last gen and 60 on Xbox series x with fps boost, I enjoy it on PC but I'm glad for my fellow switch players that can get behind it
I didn't have expectations but was still a bit disappointed. That being said it seems like there was something for everyone which is cool. I can't wait to play OOT again!
They need to give NEW Zelda info. The 35th anniversary came and went and we got nothing! OOT is great but it’s effing tired at this point (it’s not even the best 3D Zelda). It’s been ported to every console Nintendo has put out since 99 even handhelds. Give us something new!!!
It aired at 11pm UK time which was perfect for me as I could watch it walking home from work, this was the first time I’d been able to watch one of your live reaction videos and I absolutely loved it, great direct and fantastic video from you as always, keep up the great work! :)
Fred Armisten as Cranky Kong and Charlie Day as Luigi sold the movie for me! Was an awesome direct but the fact that the Mega Drive/Genesis controller is the 3-button one while Japan gets the 6-button controller is 💩 it’d be awesome if the Japanese MegaDrive mini controllers worked though as I did go to the effort of hunting one down in Akihabara when I was last in Japan!
I'm really happy that one of the best directs we have to date is on my birthday it makes me so happy and I couldn't have wished for a better birthday present to be honest with a great presentation like this!😍🤩
I was actually pleasantly surprised. N64 online - knowing paper mario and Banjo are coming, a 3D Kirby Game, Voice of Cards (looks pretty cool!), more footage of Metroid Dread, Bayonetta 3 and again…the N64 coming to NSO with some decent games!
I'm really glad I was able to see Wood's livestream of the Direct from start to finish ^_^ The timing also helped his livestream reach 15,000 viewers lol. I do feel bad for the fans who couldn't make it to the livestream... It's probably bc youtube and twitch will take down the videos if he makes the livestream a permanent upload.
No I get it.. They want sakurai to get all the attention insted of having it in the middle of a direct and move on to the next thing since it may be the last he ever does
I teared up with Beyo, I thought it was going to be astral chain not Beyo 💀 the Japanese through me off and the fact that the people could see and fight the creators made me think … oh, not Beyo while you where saying it was obviously bayo and I was looking at you like … how 😀💀💀💀
As a huge Bayonetta fan, the intro of the trailer was quite the emotional rollercoaster... Platinum! Omg it's Bayonetta! Is it? "Gunshots" It is!! "Lappy"... What?! Astral Chain 2?... Cool I guess... "Witch time" Omg! It's really Bayonetta!! Well played Nintendo... Can't wait 😁!
Unpopular opinion: I did not like the direct mostly because there werent much new major 1st party games announced besides Kirby. While the inclusion of N64 and Genesis in Nintendo Switch Online is great, I strongly hate that you'll have to pay more to access these systems.
I mean bayonetta is pretty much 1st party, it's published by nintendo since sega ditched platinum. Splatoon 3 got another trailer. I understand tho that you might have been looking forward to more new nintendo games
Hey Wood. I was in your live stream for the Direct. Been watching your channel since I started looking into buying a switch about two years ago. I was a little frustrated yesterday during the Splatoon 3 portion of the presentation cause I was excited to hear and see it and you just kept going on about Chris Pratt in the Mario movie. The N64 stuff doesn't excite me a lot yet, but we'll see what games they add. I am also excited for Kirby.
That was a pretty lame Direct: a bunch of old games, a bunch of live announced for later time, no date for the big games, commercials for games that are like weeks away, N64 for extra price… So yeah, for me, it was a 4/10.
I'd agree with that, the N64 and kirby was the bast part. I totally think if kirby didn't leak before, I would have enjoyed it way more. I specifically love hardware and especially controllers, so getting the genesis and the n64 controllers was awesome for me.
Other than the head scratcher of casting Pratt as Mario: Charlie Day as LUIGI, Jack Black as Bowser and Rogen as DK are all PERFECTLY HILARIOUS CASTING CHOICES! GENIUS CASTING!!
Why is nobody talking about Vergil appearing at the end of the Beyonetta 3 trailer?! A Beyonetta and Devil May Cry crossover with confirmation that Beyonetta is in the same universe as Astral Chain! This is freaking mindblowing and NOBODY is talking about it!
Here’s my question; the version of SM64 included in 3D All Stars had updates graphics and textures. Is that the version included in N64 Online? And if so, are all games going to be getting that treatment?
I literally SCREAMED at the N64 announcement. Never played Ocarina or Majora and now I’ll FINALLY be able to. Also that N64 controller is sick and if I can actually get my hands on one it would be awesome. And at least this cuts out my plan to buy a £90+ N64 and games. I just wish they’d also announced GameCube because sadly I still have to do that to get Windwaker and Double Dash!
I swear, they should make a scene in the Mario film where an animated Charles Martinet goes to Mario, points a gun at his head, and tells him to give his character back
This was a 10/10 in my own opinion! Super happy about the announcements and Nintendo catering to different types of gamers. But hey, there will always be other people who still are not happy regardless 😂
Bayonetta coming back rocking her child self look with long hair and dress got my heart melting Im crying in tears of joy rn Been waiting for far too long for this
What a great direct!! Not sure though that the dog person is there to link Astral Chain with Bayonetta, I think it was there to just throw us off for a second to make us think it was a sequel to that game, to then extra suprise us with Bayonetta 3. :)
great direct really enjoyed the video. thanks Wood for showing us the essentials from the direct; so excited for the new Kirby game and Bayonetta 3 keep gaming, you are about to level up!
