I remember Peter Noone sitting in the corner of a bakery in Montecito California that I frequented when I lived in Santa Barbara. He was there about every morning eating a scone and reading the paper. Always said hello to people as they came and went. Just another customer there and the best I could determine a nice fellow.

He use to do shows in Palmdale in the park and drew very big crowds. I got there early and he was getting out of his RV. I noticed it was him and said hey how you doing and he spoke back very friendly same attitude he has on stage. This was in the 90s so many people were still fairly current with him and he had the place rockin and would come out and interact with the audience. He's just a genuine person and great performer...very witty guy and never at a loss for amusing words.

In the mid60s, I tried to hitchhike to Boston from 60 miles away to hear the Stones. I didnt get picked up and returned home. Later I heard that a girl had thrown her panties on the stage, provoking the police to end the concert. Im unsure whether I wish I had made it to the concert. Much later I heard them at the Boston Garden.

My first big-name rock concert came at age 14 in the fall of 1965 when I saw Rick Derringer and his band The McCoys play "Hang On Sloopy," but in Aug. 1966 my 2nd concert came at The Ohio State Fair where we sat in the rodeo arena grandstand and saw The Lovin' Spoonful and Herman's Hermits back to back. I learned years later that in 1965 Peter Noone's band sold more records world-wide than The Beatles.

@Mike Barooshian I agree they are tremendous and I was a HUGE fan especially of their early work, which I think was the best...think '64-'68. Fabulously talented men. Peter was always a happy go lucky pop act like Freddy and the Dreamers but extremely popular and their music always went top ten. They were very, very big. Peter did Broadway at one time and is now doing solo work playing places like casinos, etc. He still draws crowds especially those who remember that fabulous time in history when we all wanted to be British and the world was pretty sweet.

At about 5 years old downtown San Diego around 1965 in a laundromat that had a snack shop and jukebox where "teenagers" were hanging out someone kept playing the same song over and over on the jukebox. My mom had us in there waiting for our court time getting a divorce from our dad. The song was Herman's Hermits Listen People (Everybody's Got to Love Somebody Sometime) but I had to grow up and hear it again as an adult to find out who and what that song was.

I've loved Herman's Hermits since kiddom in the 60's and respect the musicianship (...Derek Leckenby). Peter seems so affable but at a Meet 'n Greet post a show at NY BBKing's (I bought a CD but felt stupid going up to greet him) I watched a while trying to decide to join the line) and at one point about 10 minutes in he pointed at his watch, looked at his people mouthing something like "are we done yet?", or " can we get the 'ell outta 'ere?". He was there in body but not in spirit it seemed. But that's ok, maybe he had a plane to catch or is tired of all the repetition. The disappointment lingers hey, he's human and I still love him for the music and his overall good nature.

My friend was crazy about Herman..she ran down the aisle towards the stage shouting Herman, Herman!! tearing her hair out when we went to see them perform at Liverpool Empire during the 60's. Yes we used to call him Herman, not Pete then...thats why he was introduced as Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits as he wanted to be known by his proper name after he split with the band.
